Samael may occasionally twist facts, or even outright lie to your face, but he'll be damned before he will neglect to hold his end of a bargain Also, his flexing game is A++
In the Darksiders universe Samael is the most powerful Demon of all, he even has more Raw power than Lucifer (whom he refers to as master). Lillith explains that shes drawn to raw power and that no Demon in ANY realm can match Samael in that regard. In the comic Lillith is also right by his side and Death and the others go talk to Samael about something the demons have done, and remark that hes almost certainly about to take over for Lucifer based on how powerful hes become. He didnt actually have anything to do with what they were investigating but at the same time hes nearly omnipotent, in the second game he knows Death is from the future instantly remarking "so the council sends only one Horseman, even to the past" wondering outloud whyd they only send one when itd likely take all 4 to take him on of he was actually trying. He either can see the past, present, and future all simultaneously or he is simply aware of the ENTIRETY of his own being at all times and places regardless of when he presently is. The Destroyer obviously was much weaker than him, which is why they had to split his power into 5 different hearts, 4 of which were given to the Chosen to stand guard over him and keep him prisoner, while the last 5th of his power remained inside himself. Yet when he gets all his power back, he effortlessly opens a portal directly to the Destoyers spire proving that his power overwhelms anything the Destroyer could put up as wards to keep people out. I hope they continue the story, because hes an Amazing character and while hes clearly not a good guy, hes not pure evil either. He has principles and he abides by them, always, even when others dont and do things he doesnt agree with. He was also watching the Horsemen slaughter the rest of the Nephilim in Eden, not deigning to help anyone just sitting there watching it all go down. Id say hes clearly the most powerful entity in the stories thus far, but none of the Horsemen themselves have actually demonstrated their full power either, their full powers are locked away by the Council until/unless the final seal is broken and they ride out for the end war. Death and War are the two most powerful of the Horsemen with Fury in third and Strife bringing up the final spot, but Samael is probably still far more powerful than all 4 of them together in terms of actual raw power...but raw power doesnt necessarily mean they cant win against him, particularly since if he saw that they were going to win hed likely cease his actions and choose to live instead of be slaughtered.
all that makes Death standing his ground in a fight against him more impressive. Samael is one of if not the most interesting characters in ds. As he said, to enter the mind of Lucifer or his own, is to enter madness
Well, whoever managed to split his power in order to restrain him is much more clever than him. His great raw power obviously didn't help in that situation. War asked why he challenged the Destroyer. So he tried something but failed because someone is definitely more powerful than him. Could be the Destroyer at that time or Lucifer. So him being the most powerful demon is still up for discussion. Lilith did say she's drawn to raw power but did she say it has to be the strongest one? I mean, in terms of raw power, she's most likely weak compared to Straga or any other boss demons in there. She could be drawn to said demons as well but no. It's because they are dim witted compared to Samael or Lucifer.
