I got a little disappointed as well, I didn’t see any difference between 2 hours with Miata versus a week with Miata. I was curious as well if it would fit 1 or 2 carry on on the trunk. But anyway, not 100% of someone’s channel is going to meet our expectations:m :/
And the fact that after he pushed it into a parking spot he forgot to put the E brake on lol heard some story people's who went grocery shopping n comes out looking for their lost miata ending up rolling down the parking lot somewhere 😅
Complaining about the cup holders in a Miata is akin to bemoaning the fact that your supermodel girlfriend defecates. And no one would be allowed in my car with a 92-oz. fountain drink in the first place.
Thanks for this review. It was really different from most mx-5 reviews and gave great perspective. This special little car deserved it. I especially loved the fly-by shots starting at 8:28 and the night view of the exterior and interior lighting. Love the blueish white colour of the dials and that sweet 7500rpm tach.
Originally there were no cupholders. Only improvised ones. ie the Ashtray, right in the way of shifting. I mounted a flip up one ($4 at ChinaMart) exactly where you stick the new passenger one. The flip up was the best type and place in that car.
13:03 wind noise is really bad in the rf with top down AND windows up. Try it with the top down and windows down, its still noisy but not as bad at speed. The fastback creates a parachute effect that catches all the wind and creates the noise just behind your ear. The soft top does not have this issue with the top down and windows up.
Yeah I generally don't feel any need to have large, sweating drinks in a car...especially where they will drip on the floor, seat, center console, etc. ;) Maybe a nice bottle of soda that I can securely cap, and where I won't worry about spills.

I’m seriously considering this over a 2017 BMW F30 335i, the 2019 MX-5 is more expensive but it seems to be such a perfect car all around for daily use and spirited driving. I’ll definitely go with the RF version for the road noise reduction on the highway.

modern cars sold in the us that run on gas are engineered by US law to run perfectly fine on 87 octane gas. the premium is only for getting that full horse power. it doesn't hurt the engine. if your engine has a super high compression ratio, then premium is absolutely needed, or if you have a turbo. all you have to avoid is pumping from unknown brand gas

i rented one for the day on turo for $100. best money i ever spent. its a pain in the butt to get in and out, it lacks top end speed and obviously interior space. Other than that, its great for what it is...a roadster.
@10:00 when you were saying your elbow hits the drink when operating the multimedia control button - I suggest move the drink to the other holder. It worked for me and it's also easier to access. It's not the most comfortable angle but I got used to it. This or, put the holder on the passenger side if you don't have a passenger. I agree it's not the best setup and it will take some time go get used to it but I think the cupholders' location in Mazda 6 is actually worse. It takes up a big chunk of the armrest and instead of your elbow resting on it, you end up resting it on the drinks or the cupholder's lid- which obviously is not solid or comfortable enough . I found this much worse in day to day usage. If you have a large/tall cup 400-500ml or bottle you end up hitting it every time you switch the gears too...With that being said, as always, great video. I always enjoy your car reviews
great car. the miata is a rare litle gem in todays era of cars. of light rear wheel drive car thats driver oriented, pure, raw, and engaging. and it can drop the top. its magical it really is
Use the lowest octane you can without having any detonation (pinging). Using higher octane than that is just wasting money. 93 might make sense in hot climate in summer, but in cooler climates, 87 or 89 usually does the trick.
@@leesonneville1817 Exactly right, we use RON+MON ratings /2. In Europe, they only use RON, which is the higher number. The US way is actually more accurate averaging out the two anti-knock measurement systems.
It's a small gripe about the cup holders, yes. However, if you've got someone in your front seat, they better be able to hold your drink...otherwise, they can uber that ride.
A beautiful colour indeed ... but any "pearl" colour is a PITA to paint match. You can't even find touch-up pens for them usually. Really stuck for any stone chips, scratches, or other body work.

Dont understand why Usa people needs cupholders... I have never used one... Always drinking or doing long drives?
My wifes 3 has the same pearl. Looks beautiful after wash and wax.
That car is perfect.
i rented one for the day on turo for $100. best money i ever spent.
its a pain in the butt to get in and out, it lacks top end speed and obviously interior space. Other than that, its great for what it is...a roadster.
2:50 you can take that off completely. Just pull it up.
what diff it makes to have it on or off? Im curious mate

Great car this will be a great hit. Thumbs up.
STOP MAKING ME REGRET MY CAMARO, MIATA.
Excellent review.... sweet car! Subscribed
great car. the miata is a rare litle gem in todays era of cars. of light rear wheel drive car thats driver oriented, pure, raw, and engaging. and it can drop the top. its magical it really is
Probably should pull the brake back up when you do your little parking trick man haha
Nice review!
You’re lucky enough to have 93 octane (we can only get 91 in California), so why not use it! (Never 87)
lol. in poland we have 95 and 98
Paweł S Europe uses a different rating system for fuel. Your 98 octane would be like 91 octane here I think.
Use the lowest octane you can without having any detonation (pinging). Using higher octane than that is just wasting money. 93 might make sense in hot climate in summer, but in cooler climates, 87 or 89 usually does the trick.
In Italy '' Shell say 100 ottani... But she is 98
@@leesonneville1817 Exactly right, we use RON+MON ratings /2.
Great review, and it's refreshing to see someone who can actually shift properly doing a MX-5 review. Good job
A beautiful colour indeed ... but any "pearl" colour is a PITA to paint match. You can't even find touch-up pens for them usually. Really stuck for any stone chips, scratches, or other body work.
Good review, but shifting gears is more important than a bloody drink holder mate...
Forrest's Auto Reviews fair comment dude ..good work, cheers 😀😎😀
Also, you don’t have to move the cup holder to open the glove compartment... just have to move the drink
Not on a ten hour highway drive...I appreciate the ‘comfort’ discussion.

See my above for the fix.^^^
Very tempting! Well done review!
That $2.03 gas, if only we could go back in time :(

Great job, Forrest! Thanks for the review.
Looks like fun! Thanks for the review
Mazda makes the smoothest manual transmissions ever made.
Honda actually does. I know i owned both.
@Sergio Aguirre So who does?
I LOVE mx-5 RF + MT👍
Great video and great car ..
Only if I don’t have many guests visiting me for work I would sell my RC350 and get this right away!Miata FTW.
Awesome car and fantastic review 👌😎🎶🎶🎶👏👏👍
Great video dude! I can't wait to grab one
Love your videos, and love that car!
I have a 2017 RF in Ceramic Pearl, which I assume was superseded by this colour. It looks amazing in sunlight.
What I don't understand is because, some of those models, the Club model, and the one that appears in this video, do not have Brembo brakes and others do have.
