Interesting point, however, you sound like you worked at Souplantation and weren’t allowed near the pizza section after fourteen citations and CCTV footage of the ‘incidents.’
This explains SO much. I was trying to figure out how a weapon that creates a bigger AOE would create beam chains... This clears everything up so much. Definitely will Forma my Torid a couple more times to be able slot this in.
i immediately looked for that particular short where you replied to a guy saying i think firestorm increases the AOE with no it pretty clearly extends the chain by 2 LOL
"So I coded a simulation" is such a goated way to handle this lmao Thanks so much for the video, I really appreciate it. Super helpful. Shame I didn't pick up Primed Firestorm during Tennocon, I was like "Oh, the +aoe mods aren't good, right? I'll skip them"
So basically, the initial targeting AOE of the beam is considered an explosion, so bigger AOE just means it can hit more initial targets to chain to, instead of increasing individual beam chain length. Good video, took me a minute to wrap my head around it
Ironicly also the best review of the torrid incarnon, instead of just a brainrot build, you actually explain the mechanics and how the mechanics applies to the weapon. Would love to see more weapon reviews about obscure mechincs That weapons can have.
In my opinion, if you want to deal with crowds better -> use firestorm, for tougher enemies -> don't. In my opinion, torid doesn't ever struggle with crowds, only sometimes with high level eximus/bosses, where firestorm doesn't do anything... So I generally don't use firestorm.
1:21 you immediately have my sub and respect for putting something like that together. Even if it may not be that impressive from your perspective, I only wish I could render that in something like after effects. More wf creators should strive to achieve this level of intuitive visual demonstration. Very refreshing

Thank you so much for this info, this clears up a lot of questions I have had about the torid incarnon. Also it shows how messy the weapons chaining mechanics are behind the scenes. Granted the Torid incarnon does so much direct damage that even a DOT build still kills mostly from direct damage instead of the DOT's doing the heavy lifting, or it might just be my +dmg multishot and CC, +recoil riven talking
Nice, actual information. I don't run Primed Firestorm anymore personally because I just haven't found it necessary. If I didn't have a Riven it would probably slot in but I run a blast Torid and it's extremely uncommon that there are groups of enemies that don't evaporate already.

Thanks for this. It already melted crowds, but now it's just getting ridiculous. Merciless, multishot, crit, firestorm, and corrosive + blast. Legit if two or more enemies are anywhere near each other, they cease to exist
Nice vid just for the sim alone! I like it and it works pretty well, but I don’t know if I can justify swapping to P Firestorm for Hunter Munitions or the addition of another status mod. A viral, slash, heat combo with Galvanized Scope can get really silly. Also, blast damage and gas damage work really well on this weapon even without P Firestorm. I would recommend P Firestorm on the Kuva Ogris and the Proboscis Cernos. Although it doesn’t change the fall off damage on the Cernos…
I realy wish fire storm and prime firestorm was a exilus mod i love it for its primary mode more then its beam just something about shooting pods of toxin farts brings me more joy then the beam.
From my personal testing, run prime firestorm if you don't have a crit damage riven. If you do have a CD riven, you kill groups far faster by slotting galvanized scope over firestorm

Ever since the BLAST status change I've used a BLAST/CORROSIVE build on my Torid. Assuming the wiki speaks no falsehoods, killing an enemy deals 300% base damage PER PROC. And I'm pretty sure the detonation double dips faction bonuses like bane mods and the roar ability. Although the detonation radius is less than the max chain radius, enemies will usually be close enough to each other to both chain and get hit by the multiple explosions. I use a super red crit build but I don't know if critical multipliers are factored into the 300% "base damage" explosion. If they don't, I have an alternate build that focuses on status chance to get as many procs on enemies as I can to increase the explosion damage.
Amazing video, as everyone else has said already! Separate question: As you briefly mentioned, the chains can apply headshots, and with the primed firestorm there is a considerable amount of extra targets getting chained. Why is Galvanized Scope not viable? Might as well ask about Galvanized Aptitude since im here :D
galvanized scope is viable, I use it on some of my builds where there's ample mod space. aptitude not so much; it's bugged so that its damage bonus ignores the incarnon base damage upgrade. and besides, Torid is single-element (no IPS) so aptitude just wouldn't scale very high anyway.
My hot take is that the torid incarnon seems to be strong in incarnon form but we all know that at the highest level of the game any downtime can be completely harmful to your run and so we need to decide how to settle the torid being quite dreadful when it's not incarnon. So kuktishot from what I understand gives more heads hot incarnon charge if the extra shots hit the head which is a possible reduction in incarnon downtime but on the other hand making the torid not too dreadful when it is on downtime could be the other route of managing this issue. Part of the reason why I like the phenmor is that it's damage bonuses from the incarnon are pretty good even on downtime given you have a 2000% bonus damage always.
torid doesn't need headshots to recharge, body shots work fine. this makes it very simple to get back to incarnon form. also I've found that the base form is actually pretty good.
To be honest, its not easy at all to slot primed firestorm though especially when you mod for corrosive blast which really good (best bet is removing vile acceleration)
Awesome video! The simulation is super cool, it demonstrates the AoE really well. I still have a question about multishot tho. So, from what I understand, it will only be good for the first chain, and the rest of the chains are treated as if there was no multishot, right? Or does the base damage increase from the first chain also increase the damage of the AoE?
correct in your first take; only one chain can be multishot-enabled, the AoE chains never get multishot, regardless of whether the main beam got a direct hit or not.
If multishot doesn't do anything for the incarnon, I think I might just replace galvanised diffusion on my build with Firestorm, I find it pretty easy to charge it up anyway, taking a few more shots isn't that big a deal
it still affects the main beam damage (and the chain it spawns) in full, plus the recharge bit you noted; I think it's definitely worth keeping galv diffusion on at least
It's crazy how we can have these in-depth discussions on a mod that won't get slotted anyway because weapons have 8 mod slots. After this crazy long video breaking down how strong primed firestorm is, it somehow isn't an exilus mod like beam length mods are and so it has to compete with: Flat Damage Crit chance Crit Damage Multishot Elements Bane mods Hunter munitions So the video ends up just being "Primed Firestorm will be good when DE's exilus modding is consistent."
It can easily get slot in if people stop trying min-max dmg (which most of the time is wasted, because enemies aren't tanky enough) and instead slot in one utility mod.
You dont need flat damage if you run a bane mod, it has toxin on it innately so there is one less element mod you need to run, hunter munitions is optional since the armour rework yes it increases dps but not kpm, if for some reason you do need flat damage you can outsource it to arcanes or frame buffs, if you have enough flat damage you can even outsource crit damage to arcanes, multishot too. And you can of course outsource entire elements to warframe buffs. Mods that increase dps and/or kpm typically are never going to be exilus mods.
@@ShadonicX7543 slash just got an indirect nerf due to the large buff to enemy health and the massive nerf to their armor. slash DoTs completely ignore armor, so all these changes do for slash is make them deal a much smaller % of an enemy's total health bar per tick. they would have needed a buff to compensate just to stay around as good as they used to be. meanwhile armor bypass is also way less useful of a perk than it used to be, so it's just relatively devalued as well; before the changes you basically either needed full strip or viral + slash dots, but now armor strip is just a nice optional damage boost. so it just lost a ton of stonks overall, much harder to justify slotting in a build
