    Apparently, I couldn't put it together that I had reacted to Linda performing with Aaron Neville a few weeks ago. I truly felt like I was watching a different artist here. Forgive me on that. She is out of this world!

      Linda's voice is so beautiful. She has an amazing catalog and her voice is like a perfect instrument to convey emotions. Songs such as "Desperado" and "You're No Good" are great examples that showcase her vocal range.

      @@localnetsolutionsSpanish isn't her native tongue. She doesn't speak Spanish. Her Mexican relatives dropped Spanish in order to assimilate, so her exposure to Spanish was through the songs. But English is her native language.

      Top 10 for sure....both in quality of voice and the actual material she recorded. And she could sell a song like very few could. The despair in her voice in this performance takes it to another level.

    Welcome to the world of one of the greatest singers of the last 65 years. You will enter Country, Rock, New Wave, Pop, Mariachi, Broadway, Standards with Nelson Riddle. Two of her backup players formed the Eagles with her encouragement. She was the first to be in #1 spot on the Rock/Pop, Country and R&B charts at the same time with different songs. In the mid to late 70s she was selling out arenas and had 5 albums in a row that were certified Platinum. She also released an album which became the largest selling Non-English album in the world, selling 2.5 MILLION copies in the first 24 hours after release. Making double Platinum the day after release. Watch the documentary about her career "The Sound of My Voice", well worth watching as it gives a great overview of her musical capabilities. Her last concert was November 2009. She was diagnosed with a neurological disorder progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP) similar to Parkinson's which her maternal grandmother suffered from. For some time doctors thought she had Parkinson's but continued testing showed PSP.

    • @fcrlover5996
      @fcrlover5996 Місяць тому +5

      The first she knew of her condition was when she couldn’t hit and hold notes as she had always done in concert. She couldn’t be reconciled to performing at anything but her best so she retired from singing. I think her last performance was around 2009. She has since completely lost her singing voice as well as experiencing increasingly reduced mobility, balance, etc. from this devastating degenerative disease. She is still an absolutely amazing woman with a huge heart who continues to have so much to offer (like her work with Mexican-American youth who are learning about and performing the traditional Mexican music of their heritage). She has given us an incomparable gift: a huge body of work sung with her soaringly powerful yet vulnerable voice in a staggering range of musical genres. Thank you Linda.

    She couldn't speak Spanish but still did "Canciones de mi Padre" in Spanish (a whole album). She worked with a Spanish vocal tutor. Just beautiful. You'd have thought she was a native speaker.

    Linda Ronstadt is one of the most versatile singers of all time. She was instrumental in the formation of The Eagles. After her early country recordings, she did several albums of rock music. She recorded 3 albums of jazz standards that were arranged and conducted by the iconic Nelson Riddle. She did 2 albums of Mariachi music. She followed that off with the album "Frenesi" which was filled with classic South American Dance music. She also sang the role of Mabel in Gilbert and Sullivan's "Pirates of Penzance". Then she went back to her roots with several trios with country music legends Dolly Parton and Emmylou Harris. Sadly, she has Parkinson's disease now and doesn't sing anymore. Check out all of her styles. I would especially recommend her soulful rendition of Jimmy Webb's "The Moon's a Harsh Mistress". I work with music theater students and I always direct them to listen to Linda Ronstadt when they are trying to learn to belt healthily.

    I was grateful to have seen Ms. Linda in concert a few times. She is my absolute favorite female performer. I am 73 years old and still listen to her music on CD almost daily. She didn't need flashing lights, dancers, loud background "noise". Just her pure perfect voice. This song still brings tears with the sorrowful lyrics and her voice that brings that sorrow to life. God Bless You Ms. Linda.

    How in the world could you not have heard of Linda Ronstadt?? She was pitch perfect with an extremely POWERFUL voice. Her albums never did her justice. I had the privilege to see her live twice, I was totally blown away. A small lady came onto the stage and her first song was Blue Bayou, the only thing on stage was a piano, her voice washed over the audience, beautiful and powerful, I had chills with tears in my eyes. It truly was an out of body experience. One of the only people who along with the Eagles that live performances out do their recorded stuff.

    Transported you said. So was I, back to the 70s when I got to see her live in a small club, as I was sitting just a few feet away. It was at the Lion's Share, just north of San Francisco. My friend went up and talked to the band during the intermission and they invited him to fly down to LA with them for their next show. When he got back, he said they stayed at the Eagles house.
