- This is a relatively rare recording!
Although Corelli recorded Nessun Dorma numerous times in his career... This is probably the most virile of them!!!

Franco Corelli: The gold standard for the tenor voice.
even tho I'm not a opera singer myself, i always listen to Corelli, because for some reason, his voice gives me hope and motivation.
Corelli started singing tenor at a pretty late age, and you can see him improving each year...
i can hear the difference in every recording, every time he changes some part of the song, and makes it much better...
i love Pavarotti, but even he knew Corelli was and still is the greatest opera singer in history.
Quizas el mejor Calaf de la historia: Franco Corelli, un grandisimo tenor spinto
There are only two tenors that could that could arguably surpass this wondrous man.
Gigli and Bjorling
But this voice is out of this world!
EINER DER BESTEN TENÖRE DER OPERNGESCHICHTE UND DER BESTE CALAF ÜBERHAUPT UNERREICHBAR
Corelli was just unbelievably gifted. To me probably the greates tenor of all time, given the fact that recordings of outstanding singers from earlier times too often suffer from technical shortcomings of the recording. Great pleasure to compare him to interpretations by Lauri-Volpi or Benjamino Gigli.
This is how this aria SHOULD be sung!! Brilliant!!
Agreed! Many people seem to think that Pavarotti’s is better just because he holds and extends the final note of the aria, but Corelli sang it as it was scored and was still absolutely thrilling with it. The best ever.
Eine unglaubliche Stimme.!! Der beste Interpret von Nessun Dorma aller Zeiten.!!
The greatest tenor in history !!!!We love you for ever.
magnificent. beyond miraculous!!!
The greatest tenor through the history ever.
How could a human voice be thunder like this.
It’s the tights.
........an accomplished soloist, but certainly NOT the best ever.
Pavarotti is the best
Corelli is great. But Bjorling is the greatest tenor in history.
Franco is the best. His voice is stronger than all the others. Reflection of testesterone... No one had that. even they might had a bigger ressonance due to their weight... Technically, the use of vocal cords: Franco is the best one! Even Pavarotti agreed! ;)
I don’t think I’ve ever believed the word ‘vincerò’ in this aria until today. It’s not just Corelli’s impeccable voice but the confidence and surety in the delivery of that word that makes this so great.
No person man or woman comes close to the quality of this version of this beautiful song.
No tenor can ever duplicate or even compare to the great Franco Corelli. Corelli was the star; all others are mere flickering lights.
except Luciano Pavarotti who performed better Nessun Dorma
@@alexandrudanielmangiurea506 Pavarotti and Corelli both equally brilliant yet different delivery of Nessun Dorma. Superb both of them
i beg to differ and Corelli wan’t the size of a house.
Did you call Pavarotti a "flickering light"?
Lauri volpi ???
Splendid voice, splendid looks, the most handsome and dashing in opera history.
ua-cam.com/video/XHdK1UDtH-s/v-deo.html She agrees
La voz de tenor más grande del siglo XX.
Corelli came to open McCormick Place w/ the Met in 1960. Birgit Nilsson was the 'big name' attraction. Corelli strode across the stage, and Nilsson became secondary. Corelli's stunning talent and physical presence subsequently made him a favorite at the Lyric Opera. Unforgettable!
Corelli invented the surround system... :D His voice and the projection are so big that reach us from every directions. Its really insane. No one comes close indeed.
one almost gets the impression that his voice can sweep you away
I am a complete novice but tears real tears.
When I hear Franco Corelli sing, I know I am alive. His voice and interpretation are beyond compelling -purist critics, be away with thee!
The Greatest.
Ha vinto e vincerà sempre. Sempre nel cuore. ❤❤❤❤
My favourite tenor of ALL time!😍
To date I’ve never commented using absolute superlatives. However, here I will: this is the best “Nessun Dorma” I have ever heard.
Heroes album via Amazon great Corelli hits 👍👍
Then you have not heard the greatest tenor ever, Jussi Bjorling.
ua-cam.com/video/bUbA5y1hnFg/v-deo.html. Pavarotti studied his technique to improve his own singing.
How right you are!
Non mi stanco mai di ascoltarti, magnifico Corelli
I got goosebumps and chills hearing this, and I have heard this sung many times.
In this role he certainly is the best inpreter ever.
We will never hear anyone better than this great Tenor
Pavortti unsurpassed
@@shaunmartin6209 Pavarotti is pipsqueak compared to Corelli, much as I love him.
Pavarotti?? Lol 😂
@Buck Green dude stop. Lanza isn't even top 5.
@@shaunmartin6209 Pavarotti was never even on top to begin with. He'll probably stay as the most famous opera singer, but he's not the best in terms of quality.
Il Grande Maestro Franco Corelli, unico, magnifico e eccellente.
veramente la vocce del Dio
I had never hear Corelli’s rendition of this aria and had always thought that Pavarotti’s was the best... until now. Thank you.
Silenzio assoluto la voce di Dio sta cantando per voi , all Alba vincerò, si hai vinto tú principe Corelli ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Unbelievable! Magnificent! Stupendous! GLORIOUS!!!
A devine combination an Italian Composer , an Italian vocal Tour de Force, and the limitless power to convey all emotions of the very pinnacle of Opera as an art form
I'd add a comment but there are no words that can truly describe the magnificence of this man's singing.
Chills come over my body when I hear Franco sing this.
One of the best tenor of the last century ever! Thank you for the unbelivable gift you give us by your voice great Franco Corelli!
The best I ever heard, wow what a voice.
Am I crazy or is he better than any other tenor? I have listened to the interpretations of Nessun Dorma by many and none come close to Franco!
Only del Monaco and Gigli come close on this aria, and maybe Lauri Volpi
You are right!!!!
@@abcdefgh-db1to del Monaco, really, aside from bellowing, never had a great B
@@labienus9968
ua-cam.com/video/q_lGH-lccyM/v-deo.html
It's not a high C, it's a high B, and probably the greatest I ever heard.
Here is a great Nessun Dorma with a great high B : ua-cam.com/video/wbdeJa243nQ/v-deo.html
Here is a greater Nessun Dorma IMO but with a flat B unfortunatly : ua-cam.com/video/plY6DzkES1g/v-deo.html
He definitely had a great but it was unreliable sure, but when he hit it, it was absolutly glorious !
@@abcdefgh-db1to Not the greatest I ever heard!-del Monaco had his virtues but beyond B flat was not particularly one of them-and certainly he could never (maybe in the late 40s,veryearly 50s) hit a C-why he stayed away from live Turandots after it became Franco's role. I've had this discussion in detail recently- but MDM is a tenor I rarely listen to-i have reasons but hearing him do Nessun reminds me that I just may not like the tone
Perfect.
Greatest tenor of all time!
Well, I must agree--Franco Corelli was the whole package--and then some!
Yes!
2nd, the GREATEST is Luciano Pavarotti
The most beautiful and talented tenor of all time... ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Nah. Domingo's the greatest.
Il tenore più grande . Di tutti i tempi .
Concordo!!
dopo MDM.
Anche secondo me il più grande di tutti. Inarrivabile
si si troppo tardi, ormai l'Italia è stata distrutta, non la riprendete più! Andate a leccare il culo al nord Europa va.
Del Monaco Gigli Bjorling Pertile Masini.
Bjorling and Corelli the two greatest, class by themselves!
Magnificent! Bravissimo!
Finest, superb, and the most handsome Prince Calaf!
Effortless magnificence. And damn handsome to boot. Bravo.
è semplicemente magnifico.
The best great tenor !!!!
Why has he not been more popular in the U.S.? His voice is so beautiful, I'm covered with "goose-bumps."
Grandioso, Inmenso, Genial!!!
This particular recording wonderfully captures the awesome naked leonine power of his voice -- absolutely irresistible
By far the best......without any doubt!
Del Monaco runs him close, though.
@@xxsaruman82xx87 Del Monaco has the same level of voice quality. They are both the greatest tenors of all time. But Corelli is a better fit for Calaf.
@@shuaizhang9566 As I said, Del Monaco runs him close. Corelli is definitely the best Calaf.
The “thumbs-down” must be masters of voice, to be able to negatively judge one of the most glorious voices EVER, in one of the greatest renditions, EVER!!!
Interesting......Corelli (and Bridget) owned the roles in the 60's and it became Pavorotti's signature song........many many great tenors over the years, but somehow no grabs me emotionally like Franco!!!
Tom Terreri I thunk you mean Birgit, no?
Have you tried Lauri-Volpi?
PAVOrotti? You made the tenor a turkey! Fix ?
@@Altonahh10 Sit down and hush
@@Altonahh10 what's in a word? A tune by any name would still sound as sweet!
Wonderful rendition. I must have heard this 1000 times by around 100 tenors, but this one made it sound new and exciting to me
Fantastic,Franco.
Bravo!
Simply the best!
There is a mastery about him, of so much more than the trivial delights of many opera spectators. The tenor who, inevitably, brings me to tears. I speak Italian, so perhaps easier, but I so adore his passion and soul.
Kings of passion: Corelli and Di Stefano
Thanks for posting, best tenor ever!
unico, inarrivabile e superlativo !!!
I remember as a kid listening to him on the radio and i was in love with his voice and when i saw him live I said shit he is also very handsome I was geloso . Ci manca e come .
È stato il più grande di tutti, senza ombra di dubbio... Anche nel l'impatto scenico e nelle movenze. Inarrivabile
Magnificent.
Corelli da brividi!!!!🎼👍👏👏👏
Best Nessun Dorma right here. He was not suited to all roles, but he really nailed this aria in particular.
He was well suited to many roles, any of heavy repertoire.
wonderful voice!
I can not find adequate words to express the emotion, the feeling, I get when I listen to Franco Corelli or Luciano Pavorotti, Placido Domingo, of course Montserrat Cabelle. God gave this world the gift of music, and these artists (and others) are the "icing on the cake."!
Bjorling was fantastic.
Il principe dei tenori
he really is the prince of tenors!
He is the king!!!
King of tenors, Prince of Opera!

No words can express how i feel when i listen to this, magnificent
Breathtaking bravo . Victoria lamb
Bravo! I've only heard of Franco the past couple of years and what stands out is his thunderous power and pure passion. I really think he deserves to be in the top 5 or maybe less. I hate to critique such a master as it's not fair so i'll just say it's personal taste. Luciano is best in my book for he has the power and passion but there is a certain something I can only define as a "crystal bell" clarity he places upon each word. I think Luciano has the perfect voice.
Go and listen to Franco Corelli’s 1967 Parma performance of “É lucevan le stelle” (Tosca) and compare it to any of Pavarotti’s and get back to me. With “Nessun Dorma” (Turandot), Pavarotti is able to put in a very good performance that obscures his vocal deficits vis-à-vis Corelli (Corelli’s version is still better, however), but there’s really no hiding the fact that Corelli is the better tenor when one listens carefully to their respective performances as Cavaradossi - although it is also readily apparent in their respective performances as Radamès in “Aïda”. As good as Luciano Pavarotti was, Franco Corelli was - and remains - simply incomparable.
They are two very different types of tenors. Pavarotti is a lyric tenor, his voice was small but focused. Franco Corelli was a Dramatic Spinto tenor. Turandot is a very difficult role to play requiring a different type of voice. Personally I think the most beautiful aria from this opera is, Non Piangere Liu, it is a aria that starts very low in tenor range, so you need a tenor with good low notes to sing this properly, and you have to sing over the big orchestra at the end very powerfully. Another very difficult section is the No, no! Principessa...tre enigmi m'hai, high C note, that has to be sung over a choirs and orchestras. Most of the opera is quite dramatic with a lot of choirs. You also sing against a dramatic soprano and the have the loudest voices. Franco Corelli was the only tenor could sing C5 notes alongside Brigit Nilsson and still be heard, check out, In Questa Reggia. That is why you need a very powerful voice with good high and low notes to sing this role. Pavarotti did this role once and never again. Corelli performed it over 100 times. Nessun Dorma is basically just one quiet aria in this opera that a lyric tenor could sing, but you need a big, loud and powerful voice with great high notes to sing the rest. Del Monaco also had a great and powerful voice, but he did not have the high notes for Turandot. The big and heavy tenor voices sometimes don't have such good high notes, but Corelli sang high notes better and more consistently then many lyric tenors. His performances of Ah, Si Ben Mio, Di Quella Pira is also unsurpassed.
Awesome!!
La belleza superlativa de los tenores.
Splendid singer wonderful voice, one of the true singing legends.
The GREATEST tenor of all time... Bis bis bis
One of the greatest tenors of all time. Bjorling was greater.
Amaizing! Thank you!
Impareggiabile e superbo..
Lisp or not... fantastic. Yes. This is the wonder of music. Thanks for letting us hear it.
No lisp at all. Somebody made it up.
@@judithbereczky4114 Yes, urban myth
Im a lyric tenor and although ive done stage work, i never pursued an opera career and i work as a fine artist. Hearing the immortal Corelli, shows that having a lisp on the s sounds, like i do, does not detract from his ability as a powerhouse and truly sublime tenor. If ever he fails to impress anyone, then lets hope they seek a couch doctor soon. He was the epitome of what a great master tenor can do with his voice.
It is actually not that uncommon to have a lisp, another popular singer with a lisp was Freddie Mercury.
urban myth-so many examples of s's perfect
@@labienus9968 I am a big Franco fan, he did not always have a lisp it was sporadic, but it is there sometimes.
Not that I can't admit that he wasn't perfect, but I do not view it as a "lisp." I've discussed this in comment sections for yrs.my opinion still holds, but quickly. I agree to the extent-whatever it was it was sporadic, and sometimes even in the same aria, the same line-it was there, and not. I call it a sibilant sound. But in speaking it was not there at all-unlike a lisp-his obsession with great vocal emission could make him sloppy. I heard him live over 40x and never left the theater thinking great voice, great performance, too bad for the.... Also there are diferent dialects in Italian with a very soft s sound-listen to Carolo Bergonzi, there seemed to be a "shush" almost all the time, yet no one picks on that
Magnificent voice- beyond compare.
Pure gold, bravo!
Awesome voice.
Greatest franco
Please....compared to Corelli? I think not.
Semplicemente sublime!!!!
fantastico!
Ammirazione infinita per una voce straordinaria e inimitabile
What a handsome he was and great talented!
Just beautiful. Beauriful music. Easy on the heart.
... brought tears to mine eyes...magnifico!
Superb. Comparisons are, indeed, odious; but for me, he outshines Pavarotti in this aria. And that ain't easy.
Breathtaking!
Just phenomenal.
Love the lower range and then..pow, into the high stuff. No strain, perfectly smooth.Unbelievable.
