So I've enjoyed literally every video if not like 99% of your videos Caleb and the UA-cam studio on a stand, on a desk, on rolling cart, a rolling cart and 2 sit stand desks and they were all AMAZING...but when you cut to the HDMI patch panel...OMG!! Like all the other setups, this is GOLD GOLD GOLD!
Hey, I just wanted to say thank you for all the videos you've made. I have huge respect for how consistent you've been through the years. You've educated whole generations of beginning filmmakers.
Caleb, thanks for this video. I've based my setups on your videos in this series over the past couple years and it's really helped me a lot. Very few people are so generous with their knowledge. I really appreciate it.
I built one of your audio bags in the past and it was such a game changer.. can’t miss it anymore.. This setup brings me new ideas once again.. the blankets that are even available through their European website and switch idea.. Love it. You are really the best of the best when it comes to these kind of things 😎
I run a recording studio and my first thought was how good the VO sounded....and it makes sense when you showed the sound blanket treatment. Love the portable gobo idea and I'll be putting that to use for sure!
Incredible! This has filled in some of the gaps for me and thank you yet again. Really like the rolled up producers choice on the desk as I’m experiencing this same issue, despite having producers choice blankets on nearly every wall. Also quite incredible seeing the size of the space as it looks huge on the videos! Was also just about to buy a new white table so another good nugget for reconsideration. You’re a legend Caleb, appreciate you sharing all of this with us muggles and I’m sure many will agree, not all hero’s wear capes 😎
Truly an insane setup! I’m shocked 😳! True, Sennheiser mics are for life. I’ve got the MKE 600 and I loved it since day 1. Never had a sound recorder though! One blanket isn’t enough, not even 2……………. Lol! But seriously, I can hear the sound and there’s no any echo, reflection or reverb, it’s a studio! Thanks Caleb for this amazing video 🙏🙏🙏
Boy, your such an inspiration & I'm learning so much from you! your studio is phenomenal. I'm just starting to build mine on a much lower budget, your helping me to make good non regrettable equipment purchase choices. Thank you, love the channel :)
As I dialed down my time investment in filmmaking over the last several years I stopped watching nearly every channel on production.. except this one. I'm glad I've stayed just to watch you develop, but now with college done I'm actually getting back into making youtube videos again and finding a renewed interest in audio, lighting, and 1-man production approaches! I love seeing you break down exactly how you can achieve a look like this and dial it in so hard, gives me so much respect for the art of grip work, hoping to one day earn my own 60 inch softbox haha
This is a lot… I’m not gone lie.. but with how you have made it EASY now to do what YOU need to do… it’s a perfect set up for you my man. I’m thankful to have watched this video to gain some inspo👏🏾
Absolutely fantastic video Caleb. You are great at what you do. I appreciate that we, the audience, can benefit from your experience. You are a natural teacher, keep doing what you're doing.
I wish I could give this video a gazillion likes. I’ve built my UA-cam studio based mostly on recommendations and know-how from your videos. I need that hdmi connector plate thing for sure. Much appreciated!
It's amazing where you've come since I started watching you YEARS ago, haha. I thoroughly enjoyed this video. We have a homesteading channel and are, hopefully, about to start building our houses (my parents' and ours, small family farm going in). I will definitely put some of this to use when we build our studio for filming interior talking head shots. Thanks again and keep up the great work!!
Wow I’m impressed everything is recording through the ATEM as the image quality of your videos are better than most. Proof that in a controlled environment, 4K high data rate codecs really aren’t needed, lighting is everything.
Another well made video. I have no plans for youtube studio but I still found the video informative and entertaining. Thank you. Ry formerly from Dubai.
Killer video Caleb! Love the progression throughout your youtube career! The Aputure line is certainly fantastic and the Amaran family is literally perfect for a permanent youtube studio. Only reason one may go with the Lightstorm line is if your job is filming on-location and you need the tools to be more durable.
omg insaneeeee! just when you think you can’t outdo this guy. He delivers again! Btw thanks Man just made my own selfie camera all in one stand because of your video
as always, Boss Caleb, Boss... very inspiring honestly, I have a small room (4x4) where I record my videos and I've gotten alot of inspiration from your videos honestly.
Thank you for this breakdown! The patch panel is a very nice feature, I never thought of implementing in a smaller studio. but what a great idea! I love your consitency in labeling (ex. P60C): adding a label even though it's printed much bigger on the back of the panel itself ;) Thank you, you are my favorite pro video tech UA-camr
Excellent setup you have Sir. I am not surprised! I am currently getting my DJ Twitch channel up and running, and it really does come to you quickly how difficult it is to create a pleasing rectangle with interesting and well lit things in it!
Givers overkill a new meaning I can't imagine ever being able to afford any of this. ^_^ still was amazing to watch. Something to try and mimic even in a limited fashion.
@@MyFriendlyPup Every time there are improvements. My setup is close to his from a year ago, atem mini pro iso, 3 monitors, teleprompter, sony bodies, c-stands, softbox, etc.
This video extremely thorough and I really APPRECIATE the value you gave me. Your patch bay system reminds me of the video days with a bunch of video decks. We would need to patch video signals how you explained. Thank you Thank you! Happy New Year!
Wow! Thanks for sharing this. My studio has a LOT of inspiration from your videos and sharing how you did things, and I have 3 cams and laptop recording all set up for max efficiency recording for UA-cam - somehow I still take just as long to edit but hey, it’s a cool setup. thanks Caleb.
You are like a chef d'orchestre Thanks I did grab couple of tips there, like the blankets, I have always like your sound, I just discovered your true secret ;) the blanket. Have a beautiful evening or morning... Piper
Killer setup Caleb. I need to get a monitoring setup like you have. I feel like that's the last big component I'm missing. I like the idea of a patch bay to make all that happen. Cheers!
Super informative video. Thank you for that! That HDMI Patch Panel ist really interesting. Def my highlight (together with the lighting) and need to know more about it!
Looks like a great setup! If I may offer a bit of advice as an audio engineer; you've treated the high frequency reflections very well with the blankets and curtains, but there's something a bit woofy in the low-end which you might want to treat as well. Bass traps in the corners of the room would be a good start, and also consider a sofa on the back wall between your C-stands and your lamp. There's a reason every recording studio has one :)
Love the setup. The only think I wished Aputure/Amaran lights have is an API. I have a mixture of Elgato/Philips Hue and Govee Lights and I can control them all with Stream Deck and/or Home Assistant. I'd love to add some Amaran lights but needing to use my phone separately is a bit of a deal breaker.
Really excellent video. I'm reopening a studio after having closed when Covid hit and going to do the new studio a bit different. This gives me some great ideas!
Maybe I am old school but I hate how no one does three point lighting anymore. I personally would love to see you add a fill light as the dynamic lighting look is not natural. It would also help you stand out from the background more.

Would love to see the cable mis-management under the desk for this, running FROM the primary device (eg. overhead camera) INTO the patch panel, and TO the secondary device (eg. monitor). Caleb, thank you for your videos! Great value! I created the setup you gave in your Ultimate Video Studio Desk Setup video, 18 Nov 2020. Fantastic! If you were re-creating that configuration today, would you use the patch panel technique of this video and the HDMI Splitters and Switches for teleprompter etc.?
I’m curious how that gigantic light I’m front of you isn’t showing in your glasses. As a fellow glasses wearer, this is quite impressive, and I’m not sure how you’re doing it, maybe I’m not understanding exactly how high it’s positioned.
You can buy anti reflective sprays that you apply to glasses and buff with a cloth. It stops glass from reflecting light so much, very helpful in interviews!
Hey Rodney, Caleb actually has an older video where he demonstrates this a bit, albeit with a different setup. It's titled "How to Light People With Glasses and Avoid Glare" But if you look closely, in this video you do see some reflection in his glasses here, it's just that with a huge source, it's much more subtle than a tiny source and that video I mentioned demonstrates how source size changes the way reflection looks really nicely about 2 minutes in. Side note but I used to play board games quite a bit from 2013-16 and watched your channel very regularly to inform my purchases. Unfortunately, that hobby sort of fell out of my life when I moved away from the people I played with regularly.
