It brings tears to my eyes when I see someone laying down like that. "Expiration dates" on cans are "best by" dates and the product is still safe much later, it just might not taste as good...(Whether it's a can of soup or a forgotten can of cranberry sauce, you might be tempted to throw them away. Not so fast! According to the USDA, shelf-stable foods are safe to eat indefinitely, and you can eat them well past their expiration date.Jul 10, 2023_). I detest people who give "old" food to people, I would not give anyone something I would not eat myself!

Me too. When we use to gather food for people, we would We would get can goods that were 2 years past expiration. I couldn't believe it

I dont know if anyone has ever mentioned, but you treat these people with dignity...no matter what your life situation or mistakes we have made, we all need to be treated with dignity. Well done.

Caned goods can last up to 10 years as long as the can is not dented. But I understand you wanting to give them unexpired canned food. ….. It made me sad to think anyone would give their half eaten food to anyone! ……. Poor Jessica, I’m worried about her, as a mother of a daughter we hurt worse for these lost souls. …Btw,my daughter is fine. I’m just a Mama Bear.

Much respect to you for helpling the homeless in your area. Most people will not help homeless people in their community, they will walk or drive by and ignore them. But you are so dedicated to making their lives better, My hats off to you friend!

The homeless community doesn’t look as bad in Tucson as it is in Phoenix. All the people you talk to atleast sound like they know where they’re at.

Expired canned food is good for at least a year if not more. I'm not even homeless and I can't afford to throw away food that is still edible.
