For me, at least would be to assess the obstacle, trick and then rolling away safely. Too many times I would see others focusing on their board only to not pay attention to other finer details around them. Such as hitting something or planning the direct path after landing.
Practice doing your stuff over a crack or a line painted on the ground. I agree this is an essential skill to make the jump from just being able to DO a trick to actually being able to USE the trick.
