Comic Accurate Order 66 (The Bad Batch)

- This is Star Wars: The Bad Batch's order 66, but it is comic accurate with the Kanan comic book.
The edits are basically of the lightsabers, as Depa Billaba has green in the comic so I made it green here. Also Commander Grey wore red-coloured armour in the comic too, so I tried to transform it here too.

Yeah the crazy thing is Depa Bulaba's green lightsaber was canon all the way back in Attack of the Clones and the films are suppose to be 100% canon with just explenations, timeline expansion, and plot hole plugs through additional media. So changing something that's been canonically consistent in film, cartoon, and comics (dark horse and marvel) Disney's integration is stupid. I feel like these Disney executives don't really give a shit about the universe or bad press because they know they're sitting on a gold mine when it comes to star wars content.

Captain Gray, though in the comic it's commander gray. There's another clone named Captain styles so this is like a combination of the characters.

Most people that didn't read the comic don't realize that the clones under her command were in fact green.
Only the commander, captain, and like 2 others were red because they were from her other battalion that all died in a battle with grievous.
This is yet another thing that adds to Billaba's character and it's all been thrown away

I love how disney claimed they would never retcon their own canon yet they’ve already done it a few times now, this, the siege of mandalore and I’m sure there’s some other retcon somewhere
Besides this I just know that in Ahsoka novel Anakin never changed Ahsoka's sabers to blue color

I understand why they did certain things in the siege of mandalore. I think they mostly do it in order to shock the audience. I didn’t expect order 66 to happens in the first 5 minutes or even the first episode. I expected that to happen in episode 2 or three to set up depa and kanan in the same situation.

I mean does it really matter? I just think it’s cool how it brought it to the big screen plus it’s officially cannon now whereas the comics are only cannon until further notice
Even though that was the whole entire reason why Disney/Lucasfilm made Legends in the first place since they wanted things in Canon to be consistent 🙄
Bruh these are minor changes, also not everyone brought the comics.
If we want to give and order of importance/priority in the canon:
1. Movies (most important)
2. Series (live action and animated)
3. Videogames
4. Comics and novelizations (less important)
It's more problematic retcon a movie in another movie than retcon a comic book in animated series.

I love both versions of Kanan's backstory, the green saber definitely fits Bilaba more than the blue, but i do like Kaller's new design much more
Yeah this is why I don’t like them using this as Kanan’s backstory, he doesn’t even sound young and it retcons the great interaction before Order 66.

I still don't understand why they changed Deppa's lightsaber.
There’s a comment here with 11 replies that explains why they changed it, well in the reply section. Primarily it has to do with something called Star Wars The Lightsaber Collection in 2020 where they quietly changed her lightsaber color to blue.

To match the original concept art of her TCW design from 2012.
Dave Filoni's lore is so funny to me. He usually incorperates the EU into his shows to further connect the shows (Quinlan Vos and Darth Bane in TCW, Malachor 5 in rebels, various post ROTJ legends stuff in The Mandalorian and the possibility of the Kamino uprising in The Bad Batch) but at the same time he contradicts random stuff for no reason. He made the same mistake here like he did in legends. He brings balance to the timeline, connecting it and destroying it.
That's always been my problem with Filoni in Star Wars. He always does it in the weirdest spots too.
A lot of the time it feels like he does retcons for the sake of retcons. He changes things which had no reason to be changed, e.g. Depa's lightsaber colour.

@@darthcjvader100 Again though, there's an assumption that it's done without care (as if overlooking something), when his choices might very very well be very deliberate. The change in the Siege Of Mandalore was, for example, almost certainly highly planned out and purposeful.

It would be emotional if order 66 music was on even the same one like that played when Ashoka defend herself

Also Disney: Contradicts the Ashoka book and Kanan the Last Padawan
Is it lacking the character development of the orginal? Yes. Does it tie the series in nicely. Hell yeah.
Green looks so much better on her. Still feel like that change was unnecessary. Also, I fully understand why Grey's rank had to be retconned from Commander to Captain to fit with the onscreen portrayal of ranks since Padawans are typically the Commanders by default. Still wish we got to see Styles though! He could've still appeared. I'd love for him to have cracked some jokes, but I don't mind if they just cameo'd Styles somewhere in the background. Would've still fit since the next rank under Captain is Lieutenant. Lieutenant Styles. I like that. ;)
The whole "padawans are the commanders" should not be an excuse, as Luminara Unduli had both Barris Offee and Gree as commanders.
@@alexgaelsotorodriguez3870 No, it's not an excuse, it's part of the lore and nearly all legions were made up like that anyway so it makes sense why it's structured like that. Look it up on Wookiepedia. And yeah, you're right. I completely forgot about Gree. Guess that's another continuity error, not really the rank structure's fault. But now Grey is also part of the 41st Elite too btw. Check out his official Topps card. This is getting even more confusing!

I don’t mind that they changed up her death, I’m just annoyed with the sudden overuse of blue lightsabers. Like it was okay to change Ahsoka’s blades from green to blue, but we have other colors to choose from.

I think it was Hidalgo who said this, but the excuse for the inconsistencies is that Star Wars is a mythology and is bound to have certain details differ.
I think it's a bullshit excuse, but if you want to, you can still count the comic canon through this lense.
Well I think that is indeed a legitimate reason (not excuse) for a great number of things that happen during Star Wars as a whole - in this instance, however, I think a more accurate explanation is that the unexpected resurrection of Clone Wars (and subsequent commissioning of Bad Batch) opened up the chance to revisit story opportunities for screen that the creators never thought they would get, and therefore, an overall minor redraft was made to better suit the format. Not the first time a redraft has occurred - the Season 7 Bad Batch arc itself was redrafted from the previously Canon unfinished animatics. I'm not in favour of massive reworkings and retcons, but I'm also not opposed to redrafts when a legitimate and rare opportunity arises.
Also, are we sure Hidalgo said that? I've heard Star Wars Explained say that that's his take on things, but I've not heard Pablo say this. Very happy to be corrected though!

I was both confused that her lightsaber colour was different and why they changed greys design. It didn’t make sense let alone the entire retcon
I feel like easy cannon explantion is that was actaully sergent soot. Who had a green helmet design in the comics.

They changed it to green because the Curoscant Guard were heavily featured in the episode and they also wear red. From what I've heard they changed it to avoid confusion with the two units

The battle was over and they were all hanging out by the camp fire. The fact that they were all chilling is one of my favorite parts about that moment. There was this gentle calm before the raging storm

No, we are upset because they changed Caleb's order 66 moment, which was more deep and tragic in the comic
I'm also upset by the change of color because it was totally unnecessary, I understand why they changed Kaller and Gray's armor(and it kinda looks like the one in the comic too, that's cool) but why the new color for Depa? The green was awesome, the change made sense with Ahsoka, but not here. Does Filoni hates the green now or something?

Something else to add. Instead of commander Gray he's called Captain Gray in bad batch even though that should go to captain styles. So it's like 2 characters mixed into one.

I am really disappointed that she didn’t nearly put up as much of a fight as her comic book version.
If i am not wrong, in the concept arts of Depa from years before Disney bought star wars, her lightsaber colour was blue. The comics changed the colour themselves , to me her real lightsaber colour has always been blue. Still i loved the comics ok kanan but i don’t really care about the changes that were made for the bad batch. Most fans don’t read the comics so i am okay with retconning if it’s well done. And in my opinion the job has been done . They gave just enough attention to Kanan and Depa to really flesh Kanan in the clone wars but not too much not to steal the show of the batch :)

Her scream reminds me of the Lego Star Wars The Complete Saga Watto, Geonotian death sound.
0:50-0:56 looks eerily similar to Master Gun-Di's death on Ryloth. Definitely shows how one the inhibitor chips activated, clones were no different to battle droids

Thought I was color blind for a second because I didn’t read the title.
I've spotted two continuity errors.
One: Commander Grey's armour was faded maroon-red colour, but green which this is would make him apart of 422nd Legion.
Two: Depa's lightsabre was green, not blue.
