It's not even the balance, although Protoss needs a worker comeback mechanic on the level of larvae and Mules, and Ghosts, maybe Libs, still need more of a nerf to make TvX anything but a Ghost-Lib steamrolls everything show. The problem is the maps: there are three maps that are nearly 60% or more favored for Terran, that just happen to be the three "experimental" ones that were the reason the map pool was bumped up to 9 this rotation. We desperately need a new map pool more than we need a balance patch.

I feel like an appropriate nerf for terran would be making only command centers actively being used to collect resources generate scans. Idk if that's possible, but it would force a bit more skill and tactical use. Because terran is simply too safe. They control early via mobility and their primary unit that also scales to late game being able to handle both air and ground defense. Brush off all midgame agro if they can approximately match competence of opponents. Auto win late game if they aren't completely sleeping. Plus less consistently necessary investment into dead-end tech like glaives or roaches. This saves both resources but also time - allowing that research time to be spent on unit production or upgrades to late game tech instead of transition/temp tech you ultimately abandon.
Seems like the answer to zerg's question of how to counter terran is play like Serral. Just be more cost-efficient than terran on terran-favoured maps. So easy. Ha ha!
Yea man, I remember when I first saw serral building 70+ drones and thought maybe it's just part of the swarm. Now seeing all races get to 80+ consistently, seems kind of silly.
Spoiler: Serral just knows how to handle the IMBA terran. Take the whole map and swarm them into oblivion. If you don't do this, terran just keeps dropping mules and orbitals uncontested and it becomes a one sided matchup. GG WP SERRAL!

hmmm. honestly i feel like snipe needs to be changed. i've been watching sc2 now nearly every day for like a decade by now. now here is a radical thought. i think snipe should be able to be blocked by units standing (or flying units flying units flying) in the way. i think ghosts would still be a good unit. emp is still a really good ability, in both zvt and ofc even more in pvt, also: snipe is still a good ability, even with that nerf to it. it would however create a lot more interesting gameplay, with the terran trying to ceate angles for the snipes, which would be A LOT better than the shiit we have right now which is basically just a firing squad on everything that is not a zergling. yes, clem is INSANE right now. and that is okay. I dont think we need a lib or marine nerf tbh. all i wish for is some more interesting and interactive gameplay. cause right now, clem plays every game exactly the same and kills everything. zerg has to shark arround and find angles with inferstors. actually i think abduct should also be changed in some cool way, vipers are also not the most interactive... protos can port arround the map with the mama and forcefileds have the raveger interaction and stasis can be killed with detection, cool stuff! ghosts.... ghosts press snipe on everything that is not a zergling.

Wow... Ryung played so bad in game 1. It felt like he was just playing not to lose. Especially on a chaotic map like Dynasty, Clem showcases how you gotta do it. Terran has to be in your face - especially against a macro centric player like Serral. I mean I know it's Ryung's style, but you cannot just be yourself. Gotta be fluid. Current top level meta requires next level micro + APM - it's an unavoidable fact. Unless you just wanna maintain top 100, then you can play slow and methodical. But like Ryung wasn't even playing macro based - he was literally just playing like the final campaign map where you build a tower defense and hope to hold on until you can purify kerrigan lol. I've never seen a zerg get away with 1:1 efficiency trade before. Then the tech switch with broodlords, again, I think it came from the complacency that he was ok just from hanging with Serral for this long - as evidenced by him never wanting to leave his shell and contest ANYTHING. Again - it's why I got this vibe he was playing not to lose from the get go. Same issue Gumiho and Cure keeps having too. It's like they don't want to improve at the game - but improve at what makes them them. Makes it fun to watch styles clash, but you gotta drop what isn't working if you wanna keep climbing.

Honestly, it still is slightly too OP. The problem with Zerg is that they are fairly rezistent to nerfs as their economy is so strong that nerfing military units of theirs has a way smaller effect than doing this to the other 2, but this was Serral playing so it makes sense.

Serral is 18-4 in series against Maru since 2017 and has only lost a single bo3+ to him since 2021. Serral has always had Maru's number.
