    This is probably the best video I’ve seen on the topic as far as going in depth and not just showing a bait skipping, thank you!

    I would add 2 things.
    You should use a white jig when making us skipping videos so we can see it better and I would recommend using jigs with a screw lock head when skipping because the trailer tends to tear and loosen up after smacking the water a few times.
    You're the man JDub!🇺🇸🤙

    Big thanks for the tips. Hearing you mention rhw home pond of Lake Normam gives a guy a warm fuzzy feeling. Need to get you to come out to Norman and take part of some fundraising tournaments.
    There is a large group of anglers working to raise funds and work with the state to put F1's in Norman.
    They have been holding Saturday night tournaments to raise funds and are working towards a fall purchase of fingerlings

    This was good not quite what I was asking I guess cuz I am a descent dock skipper/flipper, I can get under just about any I guess what I wanted was the other part of it like when, why, the advantages of a dock when your lake is prodominately docks, what baits work best based on season etc..thanks

    If your fishing say a jig...does your retreive change if the dock is in 25 ft of water compared to 5 ft of water?

    • @teambuffoutdoors3163
      @teambuffoutdoors3163 3 роки тому

      Yes... I want to know that also. Do you let the jig sink to bottom after you skip it in there or do you swim it out? I know during Shad spawn you would mainly swim it and keep it high in water column but for other times of year??

    Was hoping that you would cover another type of dock architecture. Some of the bigger marina docks are constructed with an under water (+4 Feet deep) brace that runs the length of the boat slip opening. It's usually mounted on the walkway on each side of the boat slip opening. What is your approach on that type of dock? At times bass will setup along those underwater braces.

    Ding... how would u deal w dock owners who don't want u to fish around their dock?

    • @zekethefishgeek8690
      @zekethefishgeek8690 3 роки тому

      Ignore them and scream... "Hey, KAREN!!! Can I borrow a net 'cause it's a GIANT!!!" When & if you set the hook on a fish @ her dock ...
      But, really...
      They don't own it... for example on Lake Chickamauga or any Reservoir that's water dammed up on the Tennessee River... actually TVA actually owns it... and elsewhere in the country, where the ownership of the shore around the lake applies. From full summer pool to 10ft up higher than that... TVA has to give you permission to build a dock, then tells you how far off the bank it can extend and how many total square feet you can have EXCLUDING the walkway out to it...

    Hey Jacob great video! Looking for more in depth video on floating docks like Lake of the Ozarks and Table rock lake when the fish are suspended up under the floats and not on the bottom. Trips tricks ect. Also skipping between the floats with topwater? Thoughts? Thanks and wish you the best! God bless

    Thanks again for another great video. I do have a question; have you ever gotten upset boat owners yelling at you with all that practice you have to do to get good, or at least better? From what you are telling us, hitting docks and boats could get a lot of upset people chasing you away. I think I would use empty slips for a while first.

    Jacob... I'm curious, how tall are you? Great video! The only thing I think may help beginners that was not mentioned is the trailer on the jig. The larger and flatter the surface of the trailer - like a big chunk or the wider creature bait like you used - is much easier to skip than smaller, thinner trailers. Keep up the great work!

    I feel like I'm fairly decent at skipping jigs, but I guarantee you that if I tried to roll skip one-handed my rod would be the first thing that went up underneath that boat 🤣🤣

    If you could go more in depth of fishing the front or at the back by walkway of dock by bank is more effective or something to that effect.

    What pound test mono would be good for this?

    • @zekethefishgeek8690
      @zekethefishgeek8690 3 роки тому

      Lots of factors...
      H²0 clarity
      Cover fished
      Fish size
      Rod and reel size
      Mono absorbs H²0, it stretches alot, and is not as sensitive as the others

    I've always understood slow tip to be more parabolic and loads easier, and a fast tip is just the opposite. I've watched this video several times and it seems like Jacob is saying it backwards...which is unlikely since it's Jacob Wheeler. I'm confused.

      If Jacob wants to do a pond video, then he can drive about 20 minutes from his house down to mine and make a video in one of my bass ponds on my property that I intensely manage and have some good fish in them...

    I will add your eyes need to be looking where you want your bait to go. You will hit your target 9/10 times if you look at the target. Not at your bait or off of the target.

    What I can't figure out is why "you people" use right handed reels where you have to keep switching what hand your rod is in when you make a cast vs when you're reeling it in. If you'd use a left handed reel you'd always keep your rod in your right hand and never switch back and forth like you do. You cast using your right hand then reel your bait in with your right hand always switching back and forth, much less efficient. My rod never leaves my right hand...giggidy.
