It is super sad, because Gimple had said before that Carl would be in the show for another 3 years, and because of that Chandler Riggs had JUST bought a house near the studio and decided to go to college nearby so it wouldn't affect his work, and then they kill him off. He must be feeling terrible.
They could have made this episode better by having Daryl the one who was bit, which would explain why he rushed the plan as he wanted to get the job done before he turned.

Poor storyline, scenes too dark to see, lots of hard to hear dialog, Daryl’s bad ideas, killing off a main character still around in the comics with a lot of plot left and in an absolutely ridiculous and not likely believable way, lame choreographed fight scenes, a timeline that is all over the place and not seemingly coming together anytime soon, a completely unnecessary group of characters, infinite ammunition and explosives, characters getting out of impossible situations with no explanation given, a random helicopter out of nowhere and so many other things I just can’t list them all. Hell Rick says only one has to die and the next few scenes you see them delivering head shots to people that never seen them coming. Where did I say it was "okay"? I was telling you why it happened like it did, so quit assuming things you don't know. The story also isn't going into the direction of killing Negan, so it makes no sense to why he would have. Not to mention, the moment he got the gun, he was thrown through a window. He has more opportunities to deal with Negan unlike his family, who could be nearing death at that point. I could see either decision being a reasonable one.
Valkari if they are going that direction it's lazy writing to put Rick in situations where being able to kill the person he's vowed to kill is laid out right in front of him.

The writing has been shit for the most part over the last 3 seasons now. I still watch the show, but my love for it has decreased dramatically. Ever since they started making episodes where it focuses on one or two characters the entire time, the show has suffered. It completely ruins the narrative momentum and we're left feeling as though we're just getting bits and pieces of the story, which we are.
Its sad cause i loved this show so much. I even loved last season cause i thought it was set up for an intense season 8. So far tho, All Out War has been poorly paced, lazily written, and every episode now feels like there's at least 10 mins of slow motion filler shots or the same cliche speech being given over and over. I give them till the end of the season, but after killing off Carl, I don't see the show getting better from here.

If the story will copy the story in comics (where Rick spared Negan's life), they probobly dicided to kill Carl in order to explain why Rick's "mercy prevealed over his wrath". Because Carl asked him to do so. And they needed to kill someone extremely important for Rick to make him change his mind once and for all. All I can say - bad choice. Carl was one of the main characters, maybe THE main character of all series! He had future, had so much stuff to do and so much things to become (accoding to the comic books). Bad choice.

It annoys me so much that even throughout the last 2 seasons while so many people have been complaining about the show i've been one of the people defending it online in youtube comments and everywhere else. But for me, i feel like this episode could have been so much better. It wasn't that the story was bad, it was just that the directing and editing could've been so much better. Like for example right at the start of the episode, rick gets into a car with carol and jerry who show up with no explanation as to why they're there, and then next time we see any of these characters Jerry gets taken by the saviour. I spend the entire scene wondering what the saviors have done with rick and carol and they're never even mentioned. Then carol just turns up at the kingdom, and later on rick shows up at alexandria. Are we just supposed to assume that they got out and walked? If thats the case then why didn't jerry go with carol?? Also when the hiltop are ambushed on the road, we saw the gunshot is heard but we don't see who dies, like at all. The gun goes off and i'm like "they better not have just killed jerry" then it shows jerry alive "maggie and jesus are okay though right" the it shows the two of them alive. We see blood spatter on the window and the scene just cuts there. So are we supposed to know who died? Later on maggie says it was neil, so then i'm just left wondering who the hell neil is and whether it was the bearded dude in the back of the car? And why am i supposed to care about him? Was it supposed to be impactful? He literally had one line. Another thing was the carl bite reveal. I feel like my reaction was supposed to be along the lines of "OH MY GOD I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY JUST DID THAT THIS IS THE CRAZIEST EPISODE EVER" but it more like "oh.... so when did that happen? was it that scene in the woods last week? This is kind of an anticlimactic reveal" Anyways thats just how i felt about this episode, and if i'm feeling like that i can't imagine what the people who've been bashing the show for the past 2 years felt. If any of you liked this episode i'm not saying it was awful. Like i said i enjoyed the story but the directing left so many thing out and made you put it together yourself that it took away the enjoyment of the rest of the episode for me.
Carl didn’t get bit when he was struggling with the one walker, he got bit when he fell on the deer and had to deal with 2 at one time while having half the physical strength that any of the other characters had, being only a teen still, and having only half the depth perception of where the walkers are.

i know someone already said this but i would like to reitterate. gimple, told riggs and his family that he would be in till the end...chandler even got a house and into a school near the filming site he was willing to juggle both but then gimple told him at rehearsals for 8x06 that he was going to die two weeks before his birthday. and now chandler’s dad is stupidly pissed off...kirkman probably is too, gimple’s wikipedea has been changed about twenty times. but chandler has supprisingly talen this situation very maturly and even reached out to TSDF and asked them to not spoil his death as it was a very personal thing for him

Even if he's immune to the virus, all that means is he won't resurrect. The bite isn't the virus, the bite is basically a dead corpse drilling into your body and infecting you with what you'd be infected with by the bite of a dead corpse. The deaths have various length, but Carl Grimes will die.
You asked how the Saviors got out? The scene where Eugene told Negan they had to blast their way out with guns and Negan said they'd run out of ammo... that's your key. Eugene said he'd make more bullets if they got him to his machines or if they brought the machines to him. Dwight was present for that conversation. So there it is, they followed Eugene's plan.
I think i know how Eugene got the Saviors out...that radio he was suppose to fix for that girl, that got him the wine and use a similar device that Dwight destroyed or balloons to distract the walkers....
You guys should RE-react to that scene when Carl and that guy got attacked in the woods. After rewatching, I realized how obvious Carl played the fact that he was bit, but was also discreet. It's pretty fascinating to watch in hindsight of this episode.
2 Episodes ago when Carl saved Saddig, there were 2 walkers on him, the first one he pushed off to fight the second one and the first one bit him in the side. I went back and looked at it and you can tell Carl knew he was bitten.
Also im guessing Carl got bit at the same scene he fell on that dead deer. He has always had a relation with deers and it could have been foreshadowing Carls death by showing walkers devouring this dear and then carl falls on it? Maybe
Enid didn't just shoot the grandmother. The grandmother was about to stab Aaron with a spear. You can see her raise it over him right before Enid shot her. She saved Aaron's life.
But Glenn had to die! It preserves the integrity of the cannon from the comics! Okay, what's next? Well, Carl gets bit because it serves the purpose of the story.....a story in which he is the central focal point and catalyst for many narrative driving events in the source material.....
As far as I can tell, Carl got bit earlier that day. This season (so far) takes place over just two days, and that was the second time Carl brought Siddiq food. If you go back and watch that scene, you can tell exactly when he gets bit. RIP Carl.
I liked Carl. All the other characters in my opinion are played out. No where to go with the ones left. Carl represented goodness, kindness, the future. This move is so short sighted. It's killing off the next generation to favor the present, which makes zero sense
There is a good reason why Rick shouldn't kill Negan. Because death is too good for Negan after everything he's done. Make him suffer. Make him see how wrong he was and have to live with it. Rick is a cop and if he wants things to go back to the way they used to be you make an example out of the biggest bad guy there is. Make Negan watch the downfall of everything he's built with his people either dying (if they refuse to change) or adapting to Rick's way of life. Have Rick show Negan that a new world can be built without doing the shit Negan has done.
That is kinda what happens. Negan getting out was odd and obviously a change of plans but that was the original reason Rick decided to lock him up. I believe he even says that at some point to Negan.
Negan's weakness is children. He used to be a counsellor for kids before all of this, which is why he's so big on Carl. I think Carl got bit when he was bringing that stranger in Alexandria through the sewer, and they'll show it next episode when Carl tells them how it happened.

If you watched Battlestar Galactica they killed off Starbuck, knowing that they were going to bring the character back. They even had the actress tell the cast that her character had been killed off, until they were forced to come clean because it upset the cast and crew so much. So maybe it willl turn out the he is immune to the disease, or maybe it will turn out that he's faked the bite. That he got someone to bite him so that he could pretend he was going to die.

TWD is getting big enough on a scale that they're starting to do what Game of Thrones does, where GoT on most episodes, will visit up to 8 places and separate stories, even if just for 1 scene. TWD is no longer just visiting between the Prison and Woodbury, or scattered groups outside Terminus. Now there's Alexandria and The Hilltop, The Kingdom and the Sanctuary, Oceanside and the Junk Yard, etc.
I just want to see a scene where we’re with the trash people, and one of them comes up to Jadis and says “Jadis, talk like this, we keep?” And Jadis turns and says “No, we don’t have to talk like that anymore.” Revealing to us that they actually are normal and have been messing with everyone so that the others will view them as weak and underestimate their strength.
To me, this episode felt like war. From the first person accounts I heard, yes, war. There's no glory in war, no matter what they tell you. This iw what war feels like for those in it. Or at least, this is what I felt when I was told war stories.
The only way I was happy for Carl to die would have been if Simon straight up murdered Carl for trying to protect Alexandria, then Negan showed his softer side (which they began to show with Gabriel a few episodes ago) and executed Simon for his actions. Cosimia I watch the show for the characters personally. I love Kirkmans vision for his world in the comics, LOVE IT. However, the majority of fans (especially the ones that quit watching the show in s7) did so because comics clearly dont match the tone they loved in s1-s5. They didnt and do not give a damn about the comics. And tbh, that was their biggest viewership back then, was the non comic readers. Negan is too jokey to be taken seriously, shiva was too crazy to be taken seriously. The show is just not being taken seriously by the writers, directors, or the fans. Plain and simple.

Is AMC intentionally trying to sabotage TWD? Poor storyline, scenes too dark to see, lots of hard to hear dialog, Daryl’s bad ideas, killing off a main character still around in the comics with a lot of plot left and in an absolutely ridiculous and not likely believable way, lame choreographed fight scenes, a timeline that is all over the place and not seemingly coming together anytime soon, a completely unnecessary group of characters, infinite ammunition and explosives, characters getting out of impossible situations with no explanation given, a random helicopter out of nowhere and so many other things I just can’t list them all. It really seems that AMC is making TWD so unbearable that we all stop watching out of frustration. There must be a reason.
I don't get it either. I was never too much of a fan of carl, but i was constantly hyped for the time jump and him becoming a true badass, with all the people knowing "Carl Grimes's" feats. And outta' nowhere, he's killed in the most generic way for a character with his level of importance
I know it seems impossible that they don't know how badly its turning out. Don't they even watch their own episodes. Hell Rick says only one has to die and the next few scenes you see them delivering head shots to people that never seen them coming. The dialog is awful I cant even hardly rewatch an episode with the constant meant to inspire speeches given or the unnatural way they have been talking to each other. They come on about the cross over before our show has even finished its mid season finale. Come on thats a character on our show, couldn't you refrain from mentioning that right now to the many fans of Morgan on the show we are currently watching.
I agree.... These actors are so good and also Greg nicotero and Angela kangs hardwork can be seen in this show with this budget they provide and I am personally happy that most of these actors died in this show coz they can do better. I need hbo to make a remake of this show

Where did I say it was "okay"? I was telling you why it happened like it did, so quit assuming things you don't know. The story also isn't going into the direction of killing Negan, so it makes no sense to why he would have. Not to mention, the moment he got the gun, he was thrown through a window. He has more opportunities to deal with Negan unlike his family, who could be nearing death at that point. I could see either decision being a reasonable one.
Valkari if they are going that direction it's lazy writing to put Rick in situations where being able to kill the person he's vowed to kill is laid out right in front of him.

Chandler Riggs himself said it wasn't his decision to leave the show it was Scott Gimple's so I'd suggest you check facts before trying to correct someone else... and when you are written off a show that means you're no longer wanted on the job hence let go... fired. What do you think fired is? The only time it's not a firing is when the actor wants to leave and asks to be written off or if they know ahead of time that their role is limited and will be written off. Chandler had no idea he was being written off until they started filming episode 6
The writing has been shit for the most part over the last 3 seasons now. I still watch the show, but my love for it has decreased dramatically. Ever since they started making episodes where it focuses on one or two characters the entire time, the show has suffered. It completely ruins the narrative momentum and we're left feeling as though we're just getting bits and pieces of the story, which we are.
Its sad cause i loved this show so much. I even loved last season cause i thought it was set up for an intense season 8. So far tho, All Out War has been poorly paced, lazily written, and every episode now feels like there's at least 10 mins of slow motion filler shots or the same cliche speech being given over and over. I give them till the end of the season, but after killing off Carl, I don't see the show getting better from here.
Sharpened Tactic I feel like the first time they did it back in Season 4, it was acceptable. But after that, there's been no reason to do one episode dedicated to a couple of characters.
It was like at the end there was a good 102 minutes of just characters faces in slo mo and it wasn't effective at all.
If the story will copy the story in comics (where Rick spared Negan's life), they probobly dicided to kill Carl in order to explain why Rick's "mercy prevealed over his wrath". Because Carl asked him to do so. And they needed to kill someone extremely important for Rick to make him change his mind once and for all.
All I can say - bad choice. Carl was one of the main characters, maybe THE main character of all series! He had future, had so much stuff to do and so much things to become (accoding to the comic books).

Gimple really did ruin this show. Rick spends two episodes getting trash people on his side, then they just fuck off and run at the first sight of danger? They spend the whole season talking about killing the King, the Widow, and Rick. Then Simon just shoots some no-name and lets Maggie run free? Rick gets his python, Negan just has his stupid bat, and then Rick runs away? God that is all just terrible writing. We need Darabont back. Sorry to be so negative but i just had to vent. You guys are awesome.
There not killing Negan off anytime soon the comic fans would start giving the Showrunner death threats. Look how there reacting to killing Carl off and if it was an original TV character being killed off they wouldn't care.
Damn it, Shane, every time those insert shots of your face, I just crack up.
It annoys me so much that even throughout the last 2 seasons while so many people have been complaining about the show i've been one of the people defending it online in youtube comments and everywhere else. But for me, i feel like this episode could have been so much better. It wasn't that the story was bad, it was just that the directing and editing could've been so much better. Like for example right at the start of the episode, rick gets into a car with carol and jerry who show up with no explanation as to why they're there, and then next time we see any of these characters Jerry gets taken by the saviour. I spend the entire scene wondering what the saviors have done with rick and carol and they're never even mentioned. Then carol just turns up at the kingdom, and later on rick shows up at alexandria. Are we just supposed to assume that they got out and walked? If thats the case then why didn't jerry go with carol??
Also when the hiltop are ambushed on the road, we saw the gunshot is heard but we don't see who dies, like at all. The gun goes off and i'm like "they better not have just killed jerry" then it shows jerry alive "maggie and jesus are okay though right" the it shows the two of them alive. We see blood spatter on the window and the scene just cuts there. So are we supposed to know who died? Later on maggie says it was neil, so then i'm just left wondering who the hell neil is and whether it was the bearded dude in the back of the car? And why am i supposed to care about him? Was it supposed to be impactful? He literally had one line.
Another thing was the carl bite reveal. I feel like my reaction was supposed to be along the lines of "OH MY GOD I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY JUST DID THAT THIS IS THE CRAZIEST EPISODE EVER" but it more like "oh.... so when did that happen? was it that scene in the woods last week? This is kind of an anticlimactic reveal"
Anyways thats just how i felt about this episode, and if i'm feeling like that i can't imagine what the people who've been bashing the show for the past 2 years felt. If any of you liked this episode i'm not saying it was awful. Like i said i enjoyed the story but the directing left so many thing out and made you put it together yourself that it took away the enjoyment of the rest of the episode for me.

Carl didn’t get bit when he was struggling with the one walker, he got bit when he fell on the deer and had to deal with 2 at one time while having half the physical strength that any of the other characters had, being only a teen still, and having only half the depth perception of where the walkers are.

i know someone already said this but i would like to reitterate. gimple, told riggs and his family that he would be in till the end...chandler even got a house and into a school near the filming site he was willing to juggle both but then gimple told him at rehearsals for 8x06 that he was going to die two weeks before his birthday.
and now chandler’s dad is stupidly pissed off...kirkman probably is too, gimple’s wikipedea has been changed about twenty times. but chandler has supprisingly talen this situation very maturly and even reached out to TSDF and asked them to not spoil his death as it was a very personal thing for him
they really fucked over the show...carl in the comics was the main character for the next four arcs after AOW...and now it is wasted, current theory is benjamens brother will take comic carl’s story...which wil lprobably cause controversy as..well the lydia carl stuff was when they were 12and uhm...

Even if he's immune to the virus, all that means is he won't resurrect. The bite isn't the virus, the bite is basically a dead corpse drilling into your body and infecting you with what you'd be infected with by the bite of a dead corpse. The deaths have various length, but Carl Grimes will die.

You asked how the Saviors got out? The scene where Eugene told Negan they had to blast their way out with guns and Negan said they'd run out of ammo... that's your key. Eugene said he'd make more bullets if they got him to his machines or if they brought the machines to him. Dwight was present for that conversation. So there it is, they followed Eugene's plan.
I think i know how Eugene got the Saviors out...that radio he was suppose to fix for that girl, that got him the wine and use a similar device that Dwight destroyed or balloons to distract the walkers....
You guys should RE-react to that scene when Carl and that guy got attacked in the woods. After rewatching, I realized how obvious Carl played the fact that he was bit, but was also discreet. It's pretty fascinating to watch in hindsight of this episode.
2 Episodes ago when Carl saved Saddig, there were 2 walkers on him, the first one he pushed off to fight the second one and the first one bit him in the side. I went back and looked at it and you can tell Carl knew he was bitten.
Also im guessing Carl got bit at the same scene he fell on that dead deer. He has always had a relation with deers and it could have been foreshadowing Carls death by showing walkers devouring this dear and then carl falls on it? Maybe

As far as I can tell, Carl got bit earlier that day. This season (so far) takes place over just two days, and that was the second time Carl brought Siddiq food. If you go back and watch that scene, you can tell exactly when he gets bit. RIP Carl.

There is a good reason why Rick shouldn't kill Negan. Because death is too good for Negan after everything he's done. Make him suffer. Make him see how wrong he was and have to live with it. Rick is a cop and if he wants things to go back to the way they used to be you make an example out of the biggest bad guy there is. Make Negan watch the downfall of everything he's built with his people either dying (if they refuse to change) or adapting to Rick's way of life. Have Rick show Negan that a new world can be built without doing the shit Negan has done.

If you watched Battlestar Galactica they killed off Starbuck, knowing that they were going to bring the character back. They even had the actress tell the cast that her character had been killed off, until they were forced to come clean because it upset the cast and crew so much. So maybe it willl turn out the he is immune to the disease, or maybe it will turn out that he's faked the bite. That he got someone to bite him so that he could pretend he was going to die.

TWD is getting big enough on a scale that they're starting to do what Game of Thrones does, where GoT on most episodes, will visit up to 8 places and separate stories, even if just for 1 scene. TWD is no longer just visiting between the Prison and Woodbury, or scattered groups outside Terminus. Now there's Alexandria and The Hilltop, The Kingdom and the Sanctuary, Oceanside and the Junk Yard, etc.

The only way I was happy for Carl to die would have been if Simon straight up murdered Carl for trying to protect Alexandria, then Negan showed his softer side (which they began to show with Gabriel a few episodes ago) and executed Simon for his actions.
That off screen bite has taken away any sadness we might have had for what should be the most devastating death on TV !

If Carl is immune, all it means is he won't resurrect. But he was still bitten by a corpse, he's still infected and will get a fever. He will die. It's not the bite that resurrect them, the bite just kills them.
I know Negan swung the bat and killed Glenn but between this episode and Glenn being killed Daryl Dixon dropped the ball

other than the political bs behind chandler getting screwed... I think killing characters that are front runners in the GN could be a cool thing. I feel like they copy too much from comics, and because of that the show suffers. I think the actors are doing the best with what they have.

If I wanted to know what happens in the comic, I would read them. I don't want to watch it panel for panel like it has been recently with SLIGHT changes. Killing Carl is a mistake but get the right writer and director and you don't NEED the comics anymore to pull your story from. Cosimia I watch the show for the characters personally. I love Kirkmans vision for his world in the comics, LOVE IT. However, the majority of fans (especially the ones that quit watching the show in s7) did so because comics clearly dont match the tone they loved in s1-s5. They didnt and do not give a damn about the comics. And tbh, that was their biggest viewership back then, was the non comic readers. Negan is too jokey to be taken seriously, shiva was too crazy to be taken seriously. The show is just not being taken seriously by the writers, directors, or the fans. Plain and simple.

They could have used it every single time the saviors blocked the road in 6x16, and Rosita got it back a couple episodes ago, so all she had to do is poke her head over the wall and blast Negan this time too. I get that there's no story if that happens, but... why not just take it away instead of having characters stupidly refuse to use it when it would literally solve all their problems instantly.
