Ha! Ive driven my Fabia 2007 over 200.000 km scince i got it. Never swapped this filter. Might get around to it now when i know how easy it is. Thank you very much for a library of HIGHLY informative videos. Best wishes.
Wow ! Thanks for the video ! I bought it 6 months ago as my first car, 230k km . An amazing car. UA-cam recommended me this video and Thanks again it was so easy !!
@@HatBoyHarvey good advice, HBH, I'll do that if you just don't have a video. Serviced the thing last Sunday, oil and all 3 filters, your vids were perfect. Thanks!
Thank you, Harvey. Any time I need to do something on the car for the first time I search one of your videos. Clear, consice and well explained - great content.
Nice video. Well explained. The pollen filter replacement on the Fabia is a classic example of a task anyone can perform. Save on expensive garage time and retail cost of filter. Definitely a job for the owner. I change mine every year. A clean filter stops pollen coming through the vent, reduces road pollution entering the cabin and allows the cabin heater fan to work efficiently.
Thanks again. I would agree with all that and say it is one big thing manufacturers have done for occupants health apart from safety stuff that makes me Very happy :-)
Hello HatboyHarvey. Just replaced my pollen filter - used your video as a reminder and the "jobs a good'n" as you would have said - keep up the good work my friend...
Harvey, love your vids as give me confidence to work on my car of the same year. We have an issue with a really acrid smell in our fabia from time to time, similar to cat urine 😮. None of my local garages seem familiar with the problem, though one used an air freshener in the air con system which seemed to deal with it at least temporarily. Any ideas as to cause and solution?
Most likely water leak in the floor footwells, (mold growth smell) fixed by sealing the bottom of each door's inner panels. Also some toxic furnishings like latex gives of an ammonia smell, maybe the foam somewhere is not what it is supposed to be???
Hi whats the part number for the entire ac/heater housing? The dashboard for this car looks the same as the VW citi golf which did not come with ac but i want to fit it
It is a bit of a temp setup to power my satnav without snagging the power lead to the cigarette socket, nothing elaborate like playing music I'm afraid :-)
Is the filter frame necessary for the operation? After fitting a new filter I've noticed I haven't got one, and the new filter is more loose than the last.
The frame only increases the size of the unit so it fits in place better, but newer VAG pollen filter designs dispense with it. I'm not sure whether or not if you can get one that will take up the unit holder space sufficiently enough to effectively seal the filter in place. maybe source a frame online so your's will fit better.
If you are missing the frame, then MANN makes a filter, that you can install without the frame. MANN-Filter FP26010. It is antibacterial with a poliphenol layer and has activated carbon layer as well. Dimensions are: 254x224x36. I just installed one into my car, I'm curious to see, how well it will perform. I used MAHLE previously, with the frame and it kept the vetilation system perfectly clean. Just couldn't keep the diesel fume smell out, when I was behind a diesel car in traffic. I hope the MANN filter will do better in this regard.
So I have enough experience with the filter now. And I can tell that this frameless design works perfectly. Filters every smell really well. Even diesel smell. And pollens as well. So I am very happy with it. I still have the frame, but the car is 17 years old now and I don't know how good shape the frame is in, due previous maintenance. (I'm not the first owner) It probably doesn't fit as well as it should. Because the frameless filter realy doesn't let any smell, fumes or pollen in.
