- Actor Dylan Postl says it’s not right that Disney ditched the seven dwarfs in the Snow White remake to be progressive.
"These are roles made for actors of my stature ... I can't go for the Harrison Ford or the George Clooney roles,” Mr Postl told Sky News Australia host Piers Morgan.
“I don’t feel that’s right that it got taken away from us.”
James is the literal personification of everything that is wrong with the world today.

Pierce Morgan is absolutely right. The dwarfs were heroes. I am German and Snow White is a traditional German fairytale, which is now violated by Disney. Fairytales were told to children to educate them. In this particular case the message is, not to judge people by their looks. Snow White's stepmother was beautiful but evil whereas the dwarfs were kind and hard workers. And this fairytale tells children not to open the door or talk to strangers. Which is exactly what the dwarfs are telling Snow White, when they head off to work. Well, she does anyways and we know how that ended. Disney had so many opportunities to bring this messages across, which actually shows me they didn't understand the story in the first place. I feel very sorry for Mr. Postl for the missed opportunity.

From the leaked photos, they hired one singular dwarf to make sure they ticked off that token box, and denied 6 other dwarf actors roles.
Had they made it properly these dwarfs would be racking it in, and other movies would make roles for them to be cast in. Very sad

Dylan was fantastic as Hornswoggle in WWE, he was entertaining and funny. After seeing this and how he kept his composure throughout and was clear about how things affect himself and his community, despite james being insanely ignorant and trying to make it all about himself, I've even more respect for Dylan and hope things do change so he and the community get the roles they want, deserve and should be cast for.

I'm a little person and I will not see Snow White without real dwarfs. What pisses me off is that "inclusion" today means people of colour and people of different genders/sexuality, never are people of disability ever apart of that discussion or that we should be seen in films with the same right as any other person.We're never represented. You know, because they're acting out a role. They're not playing themselves, even though most of them are narcissists and would love nothing more. And that's another problem with modern movies; the actors aren't allowed to actually _act_ they're basically self-inserts in the movie, and the characters are altered to fit the actor.

"Why are you so upset about a movie changing with the times"- it erases the dwarves. It's literally erasing them from this very old story. The whole point of the story is that the dwarves are good heroic people who protect someone in their hour of need.

Well know they can make it all woke with Snow White not needing no man and a strong female character. I think they figured out that they can make money off suing the names of these people but change all the stories instead of making their own names because they know it won’t make money

One if the biggest major blockbuster - The Lord of the Rings - wouldn’t have been possible without having dedicated dwarf cast for scenes with specific perspective. Some were extras, other doubles to the main characters - played an enormous role in the making. I will not depreciate this.
I still felt they should have cast at least some of the hobbit and dwarf characters with dwarf actors instead of using forced perspective. yes at least for doubles, extras and stunts they got some work.
As a natural born dwarf myself who suffers from extreme hay fever, I see this not only as a life long dream just thrown out the window but also as another case of wokeness gone crazy.

Mr. Postyl would be fantastic as one of the 7 dwarves. Not just because he is short of stature, but because he has great charisma and prescence and a loveable face.
Looks like the movie will be another failure for Disney, so maybe it's better that he's not in it.

It's not just the fact that they aren't casting 7+ dwarf actors. It's the fact that those roles would have given those dwarf actors a chance to fully display their acting chops which could have led to 7 more careers being made from those roles. Peter dinklage got his break from playing dwarf roles which led to him getting bigger parts that weren't dependant on a dwarf being cast. If you don't get cast, you don't get seen, you don't get experience, you don't get roles. When you take away parts that were made for a certain group and rewrite them for people that aren't in that group, you're sabotaging careers before they even get started

The bit about the Dwarves in Snow White being "depicted as dwarves" slayed me. They *are* dwarves. They are a fantasy species of minuscule, stout men excelling in mining and metalwork.
People with dwarfism have a condition that makes them somewhat *resemble* the fantasy species of Dwarves. They aren't dwarves themselves, they are humans, but their condition also allows them to play this species in visual dramatisations of myths, fairy tales and stories.

Fantasy dwarfs are very much based on the humans with the condition. In the Middle Ages, it was rare to see a dwarf and they were subject of fear and ridicule. People thought they were some sort of a fairy, or they were used for amusement in travelling shows or in court.
Dwarfs in fantasy are very, very based on dwarfs in reality. That’s where it came from

They basically kept their own dignity by ridiculing their condition in front of an audience. Also, I doubt that dwarfism by itself led to the characterisation of them being formidable blacksmiths, gemcutters and metalworkers - we find dwarves like these all the way back in the Sigurd/Sigfried sagas of the Edda with Mime or Alviss.
Of course, there is a modicum of othering still present in the original invention of the fantasy race, but there must come a point where we acknowledge that they have become quite distinct from the medical condition and long since haven't had any direct influence on one another. Else, we would also need to ban unicorns and dragons from stories, being misreprented rhinoceruses and crocodiles originally. By showing the Dwarves as sympathetic and hard working, we give actors with dwarfism a normal place in society in positive roles where we can see them. Even in Peter Dinklage's case, his best-known role is that of a man with dwarfism who is consistenly underestimated and ridiculed for his stature, yet makes it up with his cognitive abilities. Tyrion Lannister's life is a positive depiction of a man with dwarfism in a world where he is hated for his bodily imperfections by people who wouldn't give him the time of day.

Chances are they staged the whole thing as an excuse to cut corners and not have to go through the bother of finding 7 dwarf actors.
The thing that rubs me the wrong way is James is “sticking up” for a person who doesn’t want you to stick up for him, and believes the thing you’re fighting to change is actually a digression in his eyes vs a progression. And rather than listening to him and letting someone who actually is a dwarf decide what is fair or unfair, you instill what you believe to be “correct” about issues that you categorically are not apart of or affected by.
Two conclusions from this:
1. He believes he knows what’s best for all dwarfs, and because of this he will ignore an actually dwarf to bring about change in anyway for the betterment of all dwarfs.
2. He knows he should not speak for dwarfs, but this is a moment for him to shine in the liberal spotlight and implement the liberal ideology because he’s bringing change to an oppressed group of people.
Conclusion:
Let people who are dwarfs decide what’s offensive and what’s not offensive and stop trying to be speak for specific groups of people who do not want you to comment on the life and struggles they actually live, just to inflate your own societal perception and personal ego.

I think what Dylan is trying to get at is that little people have a very select few roles they can play (because of Hollywood hiring) So Disney really dropped the ball. For them, being short is normal. Saying they "have dwarfism" is like saying that we "have homo-sapiens-ism." Unfortunately, as Dwarfs are mythical, we have to use humans with dwarfism as actors, just like we use human actors for all the other mythical and supernatural heroes and villains in the movies.

People wants to see authenticity and even in book adaptations they want to watch something closely tied to the book. Disney had a great opportunity to give roles to dwarves AND they could have found a way to dispel stereotypes and highlight how dwarves have been mistreated.
It could have focused more on them being heroes. It could have explained WHY they live in the woods, together. Possibly because they did not feel welcome in society, and so were driven out or isolated themselves?
They made their own makeshift family. They find work and carve out a life for themselves, and when someone else needs help, they give what they can. They step up, even putting themselves at risk. That's incredibly admirable. I think it would have been a fantastic message.
But even then, liberals would have found something to complain about. Nothing is ever good enough. Everything is always somehow problematic.

In any MMO she plays a dwarf if she can, she is proud to be who she is, she is strong, she is fierce, and god is she pissed about this movie destroying something she loved so dearly.

This was the final push for me to be done with Disney as a company. I will find the original movies I loved and cherished and keep those, but the company is infected. As someone with a degree in psychology, Snow White was one of my first steps in respecting and valuing different temperaments. Folk stories, borrowed from other countries, are moral lessons. Disney illustrated these stories beautifully in the past. That era is gone.

Excluding these actors from representing their community is to me speaking VOLUMES they don’t care about inclusion for everyone.
