These towers not the tallest in 1998. The actual height is 375 meters. The tallest by roof height was sears tower 442 m and the tallest twin towers where Wtc twin towers in new york at 420 meters roof.

The petronas towers are not actually taller than the Willis Tower, just because the spires surpass the roof, doesn't mean it's taller! If you count the West TV mast on the Willis Tower, it actually extends to 1,730 feet! And the same can be said for the North Tower of the world trade center, if you count the 362 foot TV mast.
