In 2022, I am still amazed that Taipei 101 can be built in the geographical environment of so many natural threats (earthquakes, typhoons), I have been to see, the wind damping inside is really a great design!

I visited the rooftop of the World Trade Center in the summer of 2001. Also made a video on the ground looking up, showing not only were they tall, they had serious girth and mass. So I did the ride up, with an elevator operator guy who made jokes all the way up, just cracking us up all the way, great guy. At the rooftop I bought a souvenir snow-globe in the form of a NYC yellow taxi and the famous structures depicted inside, including the WTC of course, and still have that sitting on my shelf today. I also bought a pizza slice from a really nice guy, then went outside for the views. So less than two months later the towers were attacked and came down, and I couldn't help but think of the elevator guy, the gift shop guy, and the pizza guy, wondering if they made it out alive or not. It's one of those tragedies where/when many many people will remember how they first heard about it.

For those of us who make videos on or love skyscrapers, this video was perfect! I really hope the Jeddah tower and Dubai Creek tower are completed someday because they’ve both been on hold for more than a year.
I was in Dubai in December and one of the tour guides at the Burj literally pointed to where the new tower is going to be built (foundation was there) but all that is there is the foundation. He also statetd they didn't know the exact height yet as they were waiting on Saudi Arabia to finish their tower so they can go higher :) It is magical out there.
I hope we remember the hard work put in by these small scale industry labourers .. How much torture they might gone through building these huge blocks..which will disappear in a Prayer..
I believe it wouldn't make much of a difference if a construction worker falls from a 30 meter height or 1000 meter height. Falling from a 1000 meter height would be much more epic and would make some headlines at least.
Unfortunately most of the workers gets treated harshly. Many of them gets their passports taken away by agencies so they can't escape. You can find many documentaries on construction labors in the middle east

Taipei 101 will always be my favorite skyscraper, though many skyscrapers are taller now. It was a statement piece as the world’s tallest from 2004-2010 and a testament to Taiwan’s transformation into a thriving democracy. It is also stands out in Taipei’s skyline and isn’t crowded out by other skyscrapers. Its dampening system helps it reduce swaying by up to 40% in an area prone to earthquakes and it was built meticulously to include everything from its own water treatment plant (meanwhile the Burj has to haul all of its waste out by truck) to some of the fastest elevators in the world. It also incorporates Feng Shui and traditional Chinese elements to represent the local culture and not look like just another Western building.
Will never in my lifetime forget about the Trade Centers of NY. They may be gone; but they will never, ever be forgotten. Too all who lost loved ones in 9/11, I pray for you to be day have peace.

I went there as a child. My parents took me there when I was 6. It was after seeing the remake of the movie "King Kong" in 1976. Kong climbed the WTC. After I asked my dad if he would take us to see the building King Kong climbed. :)

It also incorporates Feng Shui and traditional Chinese elements to represent the local culture and not look like just another Western building.
