- Cool moon-story aside, what is this chronograph really like… I am not gonna lie, I wanted the the watch for a long time, this is my watch, watch I bought with my own money ( like all my other reviews so far)
Is it still too big and flat? Lets have a look…

Great watch, I’ve got the same one, strangely enough mine has a blasted bezel and the body of the case is polished (also 43,5mm)
Or maybe they sold you the 45mm instead of the 43,5mm.
I know the 45mm comes in a”full polished body”……
Anyway, great review of this magnificent timepiece with lots of history behind it 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Wear it with pride 👌🏽
They actually did 😂 I got the 45mm version… makes me proud of my wrist that I can pull it off, but also a bit mad cuz it was listed as 43mm 🙄 well… I will keep it… never trust anyone!
Thank you very much for watching!!!
Cheers!!!
In fact the hesalite failure on Apollo 15 Commander David Scott's NASA-issued Omega Speedmaster n° 42 was not described in the official Apollo 15 mission report. On Apollo 16, LMP Charlie Duke's NASA-issued Omega Speedmaster n° 54 lost its hesalite completely, an incident that was completely described in the official Apollo 16 mission report concluding there would be no corrective action as these chronographs were back-up time pieces.
The 44 mm Bulova 885104-01 lunar chronograph prototype (November 20, 1969 patent) worn by David Scott had a mechanical movement while modern day versions have a quartz movement.
Onboard "Falcon" David Scott had also used a 50 mm Bulova stopwatch to time DOI - Descent Orbit Insertion and both Apollo 15 space-flown Bulova time pieces were auctioned in October 2015. #MoonwatchUniverse
😳 didn’t know that! Thank you, hombre! So it wasn’t unique case of the hesalite failure, that makes me believe the story a bit more 😁
The first thing I did, when the Lunar Pilot arrived, was to take off the silly strap. I replaced it with a single pass NATO and later with a gray racing style leather strap. That looks good and wears well. This watch is my most accurate one. Minus five seconds a year. 🕐⚙️🍸
Absolutely understandable 😁 grey leather racing, you say 🤔 that sounds good…
Cheers!
@@WatchWatch-ck6xl That even looks good. Believe it or not. Dull grey, not glossy. Of course. Cheers!🥂
I have mine on a black racing style strap. May have to consider a Grey. Thanks
Right? i was going for brown racing strap next, but now I have to keep thinking about the gray one 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️ 😂 thanks, guys!
@@WatchWatch-ck6xl How about both in weekly exchange?
Love the channel, love the insight, just honest, funny, looking forward to new watches buddy
❤️ thank you so much, hombre! I massively appreciate the encouragement, the channel is new and it is far beyond my comfort zone - so its a work in progress, but I enjoy it so far 😁
Great vid and review! I got mine about 7 months back and love it. Got the 45mm which is a bit big but I'm good with it. Mine came with two straps. The same nato strap (which I don't like nato straps) and the textured leather strap. Again, love the watch. Keep up the great work!
Thank you very much, hombre! I was really aiming for the bigger one from the beginning, I just like the blasted case more and the high polish drew me away… but I fell in love with it completely when I saw it… it is an interesting mixture with the dial…
Enjoy yours and thank you very much for watching!!!!
Great review and production quality.
You e now put this on my radar.
Hi from Sydney
Hi to Sidney!!! And thank you very much! This watch definitely deserves to be on anyone’s list - or anyone with a wrist large enough to pull it off 😁
My entire production is basically an iPhone… there is about 3 000 000 thing I would like to and should improve 😁 but its just my hobby and I do it for fun mainly and I would like to keep fun😁
Thanks again!!!
same comment entirely from me 😊👍😊
I have the 45 mm brushed on bracelet and I got the Bulova nato strap as well. Its an amazing watch and well worth owning if you can carry a large watch. If you have a girly man wrist dont bother. Great review.
💯 it is an amazing thing… and it os a big amazing thing! 😁
Cheers!!!
I have the same watch, 45mm no date polished case. I don’t have a huge wrist but it wears very well. I also threw mine on a black horween leather strap. The brown strap looks great with it too. The watch suits you. Enjoy
I think I just replied to you under the Vanuatu video😁 thank you very much again… this watch was something I wanted for so long… but was always put off by a lot of reviews saying that it wearable like dinner plate on the wrist… I don’t agree… it wears surprisingly good for its size… I absolutely love the watch…
P.s. I just changed the strap for a grey rally style strap… and it looks absolutely great also!
Cheers!
Hey Man...Just a heads up. I think you may have the fully polished, no date 45mm version and not the new "smaller" 43.5mm version...I originally bought the fully polished, no date 45mm version a while back and loved it, except...yes, it was just a bit too big. So, when I saw that Bulova listened and was making a "smaller" version, I was pretty excited. I waited till close to a year after the "smaller" version came out since I knew that the price would go down and it did. I got it from Jomashop for 599 USD...Anyway, the reason I think you have the fully polished 45mm version is that the "smaller" 43.5mm version has a brushed bezel and brushed pusher tops. I don't know, maybe they're making the "smaller" version with different finishes? Anyway, I agree with you about this watch in every way. Love the look and the history regardless of a millimeter or two ;)
Man, you wouldn’t believe it, but you are right 😳 it is 45, although it was listed as 43,5mm… never trust anyone 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️ well I now a bit proud of my wrist that I can pull it off, but mad cuz I made a mistake in the video… thanks for commenting! I am actually super glad that people it and actually pay attention 😂
Thanks again!
"And that, ladies and gentlemen... who am I kidding? Gentlemen..." LOL Great review of a legendary and underrated watch. And I'm always down for a Jaromir Jagr shout out. 👍
Hahahha I was hoping someone would recognize the famous 68!!! Thank you so much, hombre! I am super glad you liked it
I’ve looked at that watch several times. Dang it, now I’m going to go look at it again!
I strongly encourage you to do so😂 preferably in person, I quite frankly think that no video can do the dial justice… I absolutely love the watch!
Cheers and good luck!!!
Nice video, like your style a lot!. By the way, could you share the watch you where wearing during the clip? With the white dial . And that leather strap looks great, where do I get one ?
Thank you and good luck your on the right path .
Thank you very much, hombre!!! I really appreciate it! The watch I am wearing is a Forteller Canbrian - Norwegian microbrand, it is sold out but they will dropping new models soon - it is super nice watch, that I showcased few times in my other videos for comparison:) aaaand that strap unfortunately came with it 😁 but I bat you can find a lot of similar ones on cnswatchbands.com/ i usually buy straps there, amazing price/quality ratio!
Thank you very much again! Cheers
Funny cause I was afraid of getting the bigger one thinking it would be too big and flat. One day, walking through a mall, I saw it decided to try it on. My wife was with me and overpaid. Gave it to me as a birthday gift. Now she says I don't need to save for the omega. Anyway, I enjoyed your content. Keep it up. I'll be looking forward to seeing more.
Hahhah! You got a good wife, my friend!
Congrats!
Thank you very much! I will do my best to
I purchased my Lunar Pilot (the larger variant) 15 months ago. I agree with everything you said, especially about the stupid OEM strap. It's a beautiful watch and a very reasonable price (at least compared with the Omega).
Absolutely! That watch deserves a lot more credit for the way it looks! Congrats to yours!
Cheers!
Where do I buy that brown leather strap please!! Looks amazing
Hi! I got that one with my Forteller Cambrian :/ but I think cns straps have very similar ones… check that one out
Like for the video and the watch. Despite the fact I have a small wrist (6.5"/16.5cm) I picked up the bigger model, just for the blasted case. PS. The same design of the strap is used on the Bulova Hack too :(
Totally get it, I was thinking really hard about it, because I like the blasted case better… but then everything else on this smaller one 🤷♂️ can’t have it all I guess 😁
Thank you for watching, hombre!
Cheers!
What size is your wrist ? Just so I can get an idea for size. Looks great on your wrist. Thanks for this video. Fun and educational
Thank you very much, sir!!! I am super glad you liked it! My wrist is juuuust under 7”… but I call it 7” 😂
I got the larger one. It was my first ‘serious’ watch in my collection. It’s still my favourite.
No wonder! This baby is going nowhere 😂😂😂 maybe only if I eventually decide to try the larger one 😂 thanks for watching!!!
I got the original 45 with date and love it.
No wonder… the watch is just phenomenal
I don’t think that’s how you’re meant to sit on a bench 😂 great video, really enjoyed it
😂 sometimes you have to sacrifice little bit of comfort for the sake of cool factor 😂 thank you, hombre!
Nice video as always. What is the watch you are wearing, the one with the white face?
I would recommend a superior chronograph than the one shown here: Certina Ds 2 Chronograph, with the Precidrive movement. You can look up the reference nr. with C024.447.11.081.00, which resembles the moonwatch the best, however it also comes on different colors and dial configurations. I personally own the one with the red accents. Now, that watch is insane: the movement, although its quartz, it has more jewels than most automatics (28 to be precise, the Bulova has none), and has the accuracy is also +-10 seconds a year, with added thermocompensation and end of life indicator, capable of measuring 1/10th of a second and it has 100m of water resistance, while only having 41mm in diameter. Also, it is swiss made (I know that is only a hype) and although sadly is discontinued, it can easily be found for less than the Bulova moonwatch. I don't think that is as much talked about, when it comes to quartz and chronographs.
Hi! The watch I am wearing is Forteller Cambrian, a Norwegian Microbrand and this was their first - and what a watch it is! I got it when I got a job for Norwegian company 😁 it is sold out but they are working on new models…
And then… wow!! I didn’t know about this Certina Chronograph - I always looked at Certina’s automatic divers… thanks!!! It got me interested 😁
@@WatchWatch-ck6xl nice! I will keep my eyes open for them, looks like great value from Europe (such a rare notion these days)!
Yeah! I was super impressed with the watch… there is nothing like fundamentally wrong with it…
Love your content! A better macro lens will do wonders and you might want to clean that keyboard or at least get the cheapest chiclet type and keep only for watch vids. Cheers!
Yeah and better mic! 😂 thank you very much, hombre! I know there is a lot to improve, but I started it as a hobby and kinda to know if I could even do this… literally my entire production is an iphone🤷♂️ i hope I will step by step improve it… the first video I made, I made 3 times… I was so embarrassed after the first try, that I just deleted and let it be for few weeks.. and then tried again…
Btw! That bloody keyboard is impossible to clean 😂
@@WatchWatch-ck6xl, I kinda thought you might be doing all of your video shooting with your phone, but I thought it's just my imagination. I thought it's too good to be just a phone 🤣, that's why I brought up the macro lens. Keep up the great work and subscribers will flock. Love your storytelling and relaxed vibe!
Thanks again! I really do appreciate it and it’s incredibly motivating to read, hombre!
Very nice, Sir. Very nice... 👍👍👍
Thank you, hombre! I don’t think I can honestly do the watch justice… it just looks good in person…
Enjoyed that, thanks. Sadly the lug-to-lug is too much for my wrist but a great watch nonetheless.
It is really pushing what I am comfortable wearing, I think decent strap helps a ton, but it really wears very flat… still would recommend to try it in person if you get a chance… it is really incredible watch… cheers
I have a collection of them, 6 in all. Yes, I'm out of control.
😳😳😳 damn! Even the meteorite dial?
What are the differences of each one? Is there a guide somewhere.
Finally! It's still my grail, I still want it, even though it'll probably hang off my wrist...
A rally strap would be good for it!
It’s totally worth to try! No matter how hard I tried I think I didn’t do the watch justice, the dial is a lot more beautiful in person than it is on video unfortunately 🤷♂️ and yes! I think I am going to get a rally strap for it, too! 😂
Cheers!!!
Your wrist size? Great channel BTW.
Damn it! I always forget something 😂 sorry I am new to this videos making and still nervous and it every video I miss something I wanted to say 😂 my wrist just about 7” - on a good day
No problem. I watch a lot of watch channels and you have the potential to be one of the best. Keep up the great work and you will end up with a ton of subscribers.
Thank you so much! I am incredibly humbled, hombre! Super glad you like it and will do my best!
Hey Karel! Another great video. This watch is definitetly on my shopping list, I got the Seiko speedtimer recently (panda dial) and I think I am falling in love with quartz chronographs haha. Oh by the way I was wondering if there is a way I can DM you? I don't know if you remember, but I put a comment on your Citizen video and said I might be moving to southern Spain soon. I was hoping to ask you some questions about finding work there. Hope that would be ok.
Oh man! Thank you very much! And totally contact me on instagram! youtube.com/@watchwatch-ck6xl?si=SaUeJ19yNwJ_h3IE
I will tell you everything I can about living here 😁 lo bueno y lo malo 😁
@@WatchWatch-ck6xl thank you! What is your insta handle?
Charlie Wegga … profile picture is me sitting on Jawa 350 special 😁
All of the lunar pilots on Bulova’s website are listed as 45mm. I think that is the size including the crown. Since they are all listed at 45mm with the crown, that would mean they are all 43mm without the crown. There isn’t anything official from Bulova stating that there is any difference in size across the lunar pilot range that I have seen. I’ve owned 5 lunar pilots including some special editions and they are all the same size. Great video!
This LP is 1.5mm smaller, but the dials are the same size (I measured).
@@hootonhoot Bulova really should update their specs if this is true.
The 96K111 and the 98K112 are the only lunar pilot here in Europe that I know that are 43,5mm “snoopy and the black/steel”
Limited Editions are made in 45mm and not made in 43,5mm
I also think @watchwatch is wearing a 45mm LP
@@a.j.3454 Agreed. I’ve recently seen some incorrect info on watch adverts lately - just last week I saw a where retailers for Citizen were calling a 39.5mm dial a 43mm dial!
I actually re-measured the LP’s and they were barely >1mm different in diameter👌
Case, I meant- not dial as they’re the same.
"Does it come in men's size?" 😅 jk dawg
This watch is great but tit is a bit too long lug to lug. If only they made the case diameter 1mm smaller, and lug to lug 2-3 mm smaller, it would be soooo much more versatile. As it is, only big wrists can really pull it of
Completely agree… I think its bit of a shame, the watch is already great, but they would get so much more appeal with smaller dimensions 🤷♂️
Anyway thanks for watching!!!
to enjoy the movement 262 Khz is better the bulova 96b158. That thin strap is a joke. Be careful not to hit the glass. Enjoy the lunar pilot!
Thank you very much, hombre! Yeah that strap is super weird decision… and so far I am super happy with the watch I enjoy even more than I thought I would 😁
These movements are simply amazing… cheers!
Another option will be the Bulova Jet Star.
That I actually really do like the look of
@@OZerOro yeah but it's small and bulova distribution in Spain is awful
Proud Czech, I still think you you wax that strap to a deeper brown. More suitable for gentlemen.
I might try but… you think I’m a gentleman? 😁
@@WatchWatch-ck6xl How broad is the definition of "gentleman" exactly?
@@andrewdmcdonnellnot that much 🤣😂😂
Wow, the Bulova Lunar Pilot watch! Are there actual pieces of the Moon hidden inside, or is the price so high just because they used three different varieties of Swiss cheese?
🤔🤔🤔 I will need to dig a bit deeper to be sure about the cheese, to be honest… but there is a limited edition with meteorite dial😂 but that is a bit too expensive
Mr strap know it all....LMAO - hardlery....
Can’t deny it looks great now 🤷♂️ 😂
@@WatchWatch-ck6xl Actually it's the ugliest, dumbest strap to put on an Omega Speedmaster. So long as you like it though, LMAO.
Lucky it’s not a speedmaster then 😂😂😂 and judging by a lot of other comments, asking me where did I get the strap that it looks great… I think you are the one who has a horrible taste LMAO
The original is the best!! Smaller one is crap!
