I felt the same way for a while. The kids these days under 22 who make up UA-cam's most favored demographic are driving up the traffic to that kind of content. As they grow up, some of them will discover these gems.
this man has average skill, he use too many modern tools, machineries and factory made liquid or something whatever the name. Not a respectfull boat maker for most of Indonesian youtube watchers.

The fact that he does not bite wood with his teeth or work it with prehistoric flint seems to me to be normal in a civilized world. If the entire product is improved by using modern composite materials that will strengthen the boat and allow the boat to be kept longer in an impeccable and beautiful condition, that is also fine. I like to reward with praise even a skilled worker in the jungle who can carve a ship with an ax from a single piece of trunk.
I’ve always wanted to build a strip canoe, but after seeing all the skills you applied to this work of art, I’m not sure I could pull that off. What workmanship!
After watching many canoe builds on UA-cam, you by far are the neatest and most precise with your build and also had the least amount of wastage. Hands down the best canoe builds I've seen. A absolute pleasure to watch, thank you.

Despite the delay... I am highly appreciative of your attention to detail, your steady and focused work, and how you bring your vision to life. You are a high craftsman! I was raised partly in north-middle Minnesota in the mid-1950s (the lake district, due east of Fargo-Morehead). Cedar strip canoes and boats were the kings of the lakes, and outboard motors were just coming on the market, so you rarely heard one. The quiet beauty of a sunrise on the lake in a [cedar strip] canoe was and is still... priceless. Thank you for sharing your superb craftsmanship!

Although canoeing and kayaking for the better part of 50 years, I have only watched recreational boat-building on the net for about ten to a dozen years. I can honestly say that this build was the most magnificent! Thoroughly professional, master-craftsmanship skills employed from start to finish and beyond expected with handmade metal hardware. I’m 55 and two things I’ve wanted to do since I was a teenager was have a Sawmill and build a cedar strip canoe. Well time is running out, lol. I started building my bandsaw mill which I will use to mill the lumber on my 100 acres to build my canoe. Watching your videos and others are so inspiring and helpful to me reaching a life long goal. I've been in woodworking since I could walk into my grandfather's shop. I've spent my career in architectural millwork and cabinetry. That is one of the most beautiful displays of woodworking I've ever seen. I used to think that now in my retirement I would build a "birch-bark" canoe ... but you may have swayed me. I'd get finished with this, then be too terrified to use it. Then buy another mass produced canoe and get in trouble with my wife. I bought my plans for a Bob’s Special almost 20 years ago. Haven’t taken the time to attempt the build yet. Will retire in 5 years, won’t have any excuse then. Excellent work.

I caned my seats with yellow/tan plastic caning (per Gilpatrick's book) and they're very comfortable. After 30 years of hard use I had to rebuild my first canoe, but not the seats. Great to watch a true craftsman at work. I know that a project like this can try a man's patience. When it's finally done though, "A thing of beauty is a joy forever." Any time I work on some involved project (even the simple ones) I hear my grandpap in my ear "If you don't take time to do it right, you'll have to find time to do it over."

I built a cedar plank canoe 40 years ago and it was a wonderful experience, but this level of craftsmanship is truly amazing.

Any time I work on some involved project (even the simple ones) I hear my grandpap in my ear "If you don't take time to do it right, you'll have to find time to do it over."

Glad you liked it! Takes longer to build without staples but and I find the holes detract a bit from the overall look.
