This... is... FABULOUS. Everything. The song. The performance. The Monkees should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. An extraordinary story, too long denied.
This is just them. Take away 30+ years and add Davey (so missed!) and you have The Monkees playing my song for my wife. This video utterly blows me away - I can't tell you the amount of happiness this brings me. Mickey is even playing "The Monkees" drum set.
The Headquarters Monkees was a proper good rock band with their own country`and rock`n`roll style. So sad their own egos finished the project. In 70s it would be great.

So true, I remember watching the first episode of their show; loved them ever since.
Peter's bass on this one is quite amazing. One of my very favorites. Plus the episode it was played in was adorable. One man shy aka The Debutante.
Mike's lyrics always hit home with me, these guys were a miraculous compilation of four unique talents.
I always thought Peter Tork was an underrated bass player. He's got that twangy bassline perfectly in this song.
I don't think Chip Douglas ever gave him a chance.
Mickey Dolenz playing the drums really great here. This is a tough to get the hang of. I've been working on it.

Great concert!! Mike with his Gretsch 12 String, Peter on Bass and Micky on drums, great :-)))))
I just heard Susanna Hoff's new cover and....you just may be the one, greatest version of this song right here!
Oh, one of the very first songs I played on the guitar! Thanks, Papa Nez!

Still got it 😊
such a great song
One of my favorite songs, not favorite Monkees song, but song period.
And they say that the Monkees didn't play their own instruments lol
Davy's Maracas ..... Epic!
RIP : Davy ..2022 ...
Rest In Peace
I am kind of surprised that they had to transpose this down at least one key…
Where’s Davy Jones?
He died before this even happened. He died in 2012
