      That is what you do in cases like this. You work with a lawyer. The lawyer tells you to not settle with the insurance company. You go back and forth fishing for a big settlement threatening to sue. Then you file the lawsuit just before the statute runs out to protect your rights to the lawsuit. Most times they settle.

    • @johnvanburen274
      @johnvanburen274 6 років тому +9

      Well yeah but there also details that might be important to the case. For example, did such contraption where the people were supposedly hidden safe? Did it meet basic safety standards? For example, the man could have been waking down the street not knowing where he is going nor how to walk (for whatever reasons, age, illness, etc) and suddenly he slips and falls to the side of curb and a car hits him...only for later to find that the car should have had enough time to stop except that the car's brakes weren't working properly because the owner didn't give it proper care. If could be argued that the injured man could have stayed home if he wasn't feeling well or knows he is prone to falls. On the other hand, the car owner could have taken more simple precautions and taken care of his vehicle better thus protecting himself and those around him. I think the injured man deserves compensation for his loss but the question is for what? and then how much? Nobody can really know without having as many available facts as possible.
      No disrespect but your comment reads as if you know them and that is not the case is it? Thus court proceedings and such are necessary. Even if Copperfield's acts have warnings on his tickets and such that too doesn't nullify his responsibility because just as he warns people about possible injuries he must also provide the best possible safety for them, within reason of course. So are we 100% sure he did just that in this case? We don't. Also consider that the media loves to sensationalized these celebrity cases way too much because they know it helps with ratings, people will watch them like soap operas and some other bullshit like that.
      Accidents like these (not just magic tricks) where people get seriously injured occur every day and they don't get this type of attention. In my opinion Copperfield seems to be an honest and laid-back fella and I do believe he could have been more careful but again...is he in charge of making sure these tricks are as safe as possible? Do not his crew members check things for him as well? Are they not professional and certified carpenters, engineers, electricians, etc knowledgeable of safety standards? Were they properly doing their jobs? Who checks their finished work? What is the exact legal relationship with them? Are they third party hired or what? Did Copperfield personally hire them and checked the validity of their credentials? We will never truly know I think.
      Also and I don't know much about this case but were these "volunteers" truly just that or were they part of the trick? If the man injured was an employee, even temporary just for this trick, then this does affect the case because if he had a physical or mental limitation he didn't disclosed then I do think he took unnecessary risks on his own accord. But that is just a thought I'm not a lawyer but I do know people who have taken advantage of others through injuries which they could have avoided...which brings up another question to mind, how severe is his brain damage? Can he move on his own...live a semi-normal life?...medical equipment necessary at his home?..etc. Meh, he will probably get some compensation for his injuries and what not and as I said, it's a celebrity case so everything gets blown up out of proportion. David Copperfield is a master magician but not a perfect one either even he can make mistakes. And unfortunately this injured fella happened to be involved in it.

    • @otallono
      @otallono 6 років тому +5

      I guarantee if someone weren't so sue happy, they could go to David and let him know what happened and he'd be kindhearted enough to help and be more than willing to spend his millions that way. Sueing creates conflict not resolving it and it's a way for people to take advantage of a wealthy person who earned his money.

If the guy got hurt and made it to the end of the illusion chances are he would not of been able to stand or get to the end of the illusion on time to stand smile and wave. So if there was only 12 people at the end the crew would of been back stage looking for the odd man out. And then if he was hurt laying in some ditch back stage they would of known 100 percent! But nope there is no logic in this guy's argument. He more then likely got hurt the day after or on the way home and thought hey lawsuit!!!!

      The English Breakspear family are part of an Illuminati clan that originated in Italy taking their name from the Lancellotti family. Lance means spear and rotti means to break. Lancerotti is another Italian variation of the more commonly used Lancellotti family name. The Lancellotti family has southern Italian branches with the Lanza family of Sicily and the Lancellotti family of Campania which later merged with the Massimo family of Rome. The Breakspear family produced the only English pope in history Pope Adrian IV or Nicolas Breakspear. Pope Adrian IV issued the papal bull Laudabiliter ordering the Normans in England to invade Ireland which they did and bring it under Papal-Roman authority which they also did. This is why Ireland is predominantly Roman Catholic today. Pope Adrian IV crowned the Holy Roman Emperor Frederik I and had the priest Arnold of Brescia executed for opposing Roman Papal authority. Cardinal Boso Breakspeare was a relative of Pope Adrian IV and was both Italian and English. There is still a Breakspear family in England today. The musician Cindy Breakspeare fathered Damian Marley with Bob Marley. Many famous actors and musicians are related with nobility. This is why they allowed to become famous.
      Breakspear or Lancellotti is also where the character of Lancelot comes from in the Legend of Arthur. The House of Maggi were a nobility from the commune in Brescia, Italy right next door to the commune of Merlino all within the province of Lodi and region of Lombardy. Joey Merlino is the boss of the Philly Mob today and likely related with the Maggi or Melzi families. The Melzi family ruled as the Dukes of Lodi with Benigno Melzi d'Eril the 8th Duke of Lodi and 17th Count of Magenta as the current head of this family. Franceso Melzi d'Eril is an Italian movie producer with many connections in Hollywood. Sorcery is about deception. Mafia bosses are highly skilled liars and manipulators. Magi or Maggi means a magician or wizard just as Merlin like Merlino was a wizard in the Arthurian legend. The Maggi family of Brescia settled in Switzerland and became wealthy after Julius Maggi merged his Maggi soup and seasonings company with Nestle. The Maggi family also settled in Brazil establishing the Amaggi Soybean Group owned by Blairo Maggi who is worth about 960 million. These Illuminati bloodlines are ancient and they go back for thousands of years. The Maggi family likely go back to Persia and India and derive their name from Majhi and Maji. Magi is the term used for the followers of Zoroastrianism which derived from Persia and Iran.
      Vallemaggia is an Italian speaking Canton in Ticino, Switzerland near the Italian border with Maggia as a municipal district. The Magi family are the continuation of the Magia gentile family of ancient Rome which likely settled up in Switzerland during the fall of the Roman Empire. In the Book of Matthew myrrh pronounced like "mer" is an herb that was given as a gift by the three magi or three wise men. Herbs and chemicals are used in sorcery for inducing trance like states that enable mind control or bewitchment. Myrrh can be ingested or used like an incense and is likely being added into food and wine covertly to enhance their witchcraft. Myrrh is where the name of the Druid wizard Merlin derives from. Druids similar to wizards used holly wood. Mark Breakspear is a Hollywood special effects designer and Michael Breakspear is an Australian neuroscientist who specializes in studying oscillating wave patters and their effects on the brain. They are sorcerers involved in Hollywood and psychology. The Breakspear family in London own a crematorium and are working with the Massimo family of Roccasecca which moved to London. The Lancellotti family of Italy merged a family branch with the Massimo family. Prince Ludovico Massimo-Lancellotti and Prince Ascanio Massimo-Lancellotti are members of this family along with Prince Filippo Massimo-Lancellotti as the head of this bloodline and the top architect of illusions.

    After the curtains obscure the participants, flashlight-carrying stagehands guide them off the stage and through dark, hidden passageways that wind around various parts of the resort. At one point, the participants exit and then reenter the building. Eventually, they reenter the theatre through the back.
    Why go to so much trouble? Surely it would be much easier just to use magic.

      That's what I'm saying. If he really did fall then David would have known about the accident happening that night, and what he says at 2:00 would be perjury. The only way that was true is if the fall itself never even happened to begin with, which seems unlikely to me given the injuries sustained.

    • @theranter

      If the fall happened, and resulted in the injuries claimed, an ambulance would have undoubtedly been called, and if an ambulance was called, there's a record of it... this also means that there is a record of the exact injuries sustained... I wonder, has it been proven that an ambulance was called to the theater that night...?

    • @otallono

      well obviously there would be hospital records, where do you think the ambulance goes. It's not much to wonder. Maybe if David knew about it and knew the severity of the situation, he'd be kind enough to help without there being a lawsuit.... a year later.

      For such a small thing, like just running to the back of the theater, there wouldn’t be an injury waiver, just an NDA on not telling how the stunt is done. The fact alone that this his reached trial is an indication enough that there was no injury waiver. And as for waiting one year, it takes time to asses the damages and the full extent of the injuries. You don’t sue just as Sonny’s as you fall down. In this case, the man’s injuries were quite horrid, so it seems they waited to see how much more horrid do the injuries become before filling the lawsuit. That’s why there is a 2 year statute of limitations.
