I guess Superman was popular way before my time. I haven't seen any movies with Reeve, only the ones with Henry Cavill. I've heard about them, though, and read about Reeve's story, but only briefly. The trailer got me emotional. I want to watch this doc now. I reposted the trailer to my friend, but he started telling me how much he dislikes the Superman character. Does that really matter? Bruh...
John Campea said that when they showed this at CinemaCon, everyone in the audience was crying. When the whole documentary movie was shown at Sundance, people were crying throughout the movie.
"People ask me how I found Christopher Reeve. I tell them I didn't find Christopher Reeve. God sent him to me." - Superman director Richard Donner He sent him to all of us, Mr. Donner. I've already purchased tickets for my son and I to watch this together. I'm fully prepared to ugly cry while sitting next to him, and I'm OK with that.
The fact that Dana passed a couple of years later after Christopher tells you something about them... One simply can't live without the other. That's the ultimate love....
When I was a little boy in 1978, I found two heroes. I was 6 years old. There was Robin Williams as Mork on Happy Days and Mork and Mindy on TV. On the big screen, it was Christopher Reeve in Superman the Movie. Only later did I learn of their friendship and come to appreciate what they did as actors, entertainers, and human beings. I got a letter from him whilst I was in hospital which has inspired me with hope ever since to believe that nothing was impossible. By the looks of this amazing trailer the documentary will show everyone how amazing he was.
I love how he was able to show the difference between their two personalities with his body language and mannerisms. Christopher Reeve really understood that dynamic better than the other actors who've played that character.

I fell in love with him as Superman, but "Somewhere in Time" is such a wonderful film too. Over the years, it has gained a very devoted following. I remember that in one interview (done after he had been paralyzed for several years already), he mentioned that fact that when he filmed Somewhere In Time, he had thought at the time that the ending was very fanciful. To have the protaganist die and then rise up as a spirit and look down at his body as went to rejoin his love struck him as really stretching the audience's disbelief. But years later, (as I said, after he had been paralyzed), he had a life-threatening reaction to some medication they had given him, and he said he definitely experienced that exact sensation, feeling himself leave his body and gaze down on the people working on him for a period of time before finally returning to his body. I sometimes struggle with the belief of life after death, but I do want to think that he and Dana have been reunited after death.

And then just 2 years after Reeve’s death, his wife died of cancer 😢 Chris Reeve will always be THE Superman. I’m so gonna see this documentary. Beautiful trailer 💙
This is something I’m willing to pay for and physically go to a theatre. I haven’t been since they started doing remakes left and right and I still refuse to go for that reason. But this, I’m already planning for.
Oh my god: I'm crying just watching the trailer clips. How can I watch the whole documentary...?! I'll cheer when it clearly wins the Oscar for Best Doc....
I remember when the news broke about his accident. My mom told me. I cried and we stayed up watching all 4 Superman movies. My heart broke when he passed away.
Everything that happened to Christopher affected me greatly, as a superman fan. When he passed away in 04, I Was both sad and had a sense of happiness that he was no longer suffering nor restricted.
I graw up watching Christopher Reeve Superman and was so in love with the character and the story. When he had that accident I was so crushed. But he was a hero, with another hero as his best friend. Love them both 💚
I remember working at UVA , I saw his X-rays. As in a teaching hospital ( I worked in diagnostic Imaging) his case was a teaching case. How he even lived through that injury was a miracle.
This broke me too. Fact you had to clip out part of the video where Ochara was having somewhat of a breakdown with those emotions pouring out of her like that says it all. I grew up on him as Superman. Number 1. RIP 🙏🏾
He was so good-looking and fun loving. In one of his first interviews, I think on Larry King Live, after his accident he answered a question about what happened to him with this (paraphrased) "Some people fall out of a window on the sixth floor and only have a few scratches. Others trip over their shoe laces and have a fatal fall." His and Robin Willams' friendship was everything the definition of friendship should be. That was not the actual footage of his near fatal accident. Apparently he fell straight on the top of his head and his first 2 vertebrae were crushed by the weight of his entire body. Basically his injury could be compared to being decapitated because his skull was no longer attached to (the rest of) his spine, but was only attached to the rest of his body by skin, veins, arteries, muscles and nerves. You can hear him tell it in his own words here ua-cam.com/video/gXYFJe2yU3M/v-deo.html It's a miracle he survived at all.
Also...if you check out the making of docs about Chris Reeve and the Superman movie, you'll find humorous facts like; for auditioning for the part, he was 6 ft 4 in (193 cm) and only 170lbs... so he wore a couple sweaters to appear bulkier. When he got the part, he refused a muscle suit, choosing to bulk up himself. I'll leave THAT research up to you guys, because there are a ton of stories out there about how he got into such good shape...and so fast.😊😁😎
Jaby - THANK YOU for reminding me of that other film title. I've been trying to remember it for weeks! The thing that gets me is that his youngest son (I think it was Will) was so young - not even a teenager - when he lost his dad, and then 1-2 years he lost his mum due to lung cancer. For that to happen to a kid at such a young age...so sad. And yes, Christopher Reeve IS Superman - no disrespect to other actors who have played him.
I'm watching this crying - my mother met him when he was in rehab and she was working at the facility; she later became the President and CEO of his foundation and was there when he died and then a year later when his wife, Dana, died. I met him on several occasions as a young child, and he really was an inspiration. I think my parents might still have a framed picture of Christopher and Dana in their home.
Somewhere in Time was great. :) Loved Superman as a kid. Superman 1 was the 1st movie I ever saw in a theater at 5yrs old, in Japan. Sean Connery is Indy's dad to me.

Then he moved on to movies and next thing you know, they revive Superman lol! I was almost 16 when it opened. It was campy and goofy at times but CR was great as Superman/Clark Kent. ❤ I've seen so far every Superman movie since. They again revived Superman for- Superman Returns. Henry Cavill ( pron. Reeve's widow, Dana Reeve, headed the Christopher Reeve Foundation after his death. Although a non-smoker, she was diagnosed with lung cancer on August 9, 2005. She died at age 44 on March 6, 2006..
Certainly it's not surprising that most of Reeve's fans would firstly recognize him for his Superman roles but I remember him for quite a number of other projects he was apart of that showed how much of a talented actor he was; for instance I can recollect Christopher starring in John Carpenter's Village of the Damned, the film Street Smart that he did with Morgan Freeman that flys under the radar with a lot of people, and the movie my mother introduced me to which was a favorite of hers called Somewhere In Time.
He even came back to the Superman universe in Smallville season 1 and 2. He was an amazing individual that just inspired so many, not just in his acting but in his personality and energy.
Christopher Reeves will always be Superman, no matter who comes along in the future. It's hard to believe it's coming up to 20 years since his passing, the years have gone by so quickly. A favourite film of his would be Somewhere in Time, no heroics, but a lovely film with Jane Seymour.
You know that all theaters will have tissues nearby when Christopher Reeve's story released...... Like Robin, Christopher's impression of their former housemaster of Julliard, John Houseman is spot on! Tough part is when Dana and Christopher's kids now grown-up talk about him very emotional!
The last movie that Christopher Reeve appeared in before the accident was a small role in The Remains Of The Day in (1994). I saw all the Superman movies with Cristopher Reeve S1 to S 4 at the cinemas.
Yeah, I saw this trailer yesterday for the first time with an Heroes Reforged reaction. It destroyed me, no wrecked me, DESTROYED me And now I'm crying again 😭
Robin Williams and Christopher Reeve were room mates in College and became the best of friends. Robin always talked about Chris as his big brother.
He adopted chris' son after death of Chris ' wife
Oh wow
He also roomed with Kevin Conroy at some point. So Robin lived with both Batman and Superman.

Robin Williams was also roommates with the voice of Batman himself mr Kevin Conroy
The last movie that Christopher Reeve appeared in before the accident was a small role in The Remains Of The Day in (1994). I saw all the Superman movies with Cristopher Reeve S1 to S 4 at the cinemas.
Guys that was me too. I was bawling like a baby. I have enormous respect for him and his wife's dedication to him.
"Who hurt you?" 🤣
