    Anyone who knows what truly good, spiritually inspiring music is feels the loss of Maurice White.
    When the time comes, I'll only feel the same way about the passing of Peter Gabriel.

    Mr. Preston Williams is a beautiful soul. I have never felt a fan with the love for Maurice White expressed so genuinely, and in such a knowledgeable way. Mr. Williams' self effacing delivery has an apparent divinely inspired comforting and respectful effect. I could listen to Mr. Williams talk from his special heart, all day. Thank you for such a honorific tribute to the incomparable Maurice White and Earth Wind and Fire. May GOD Always Smile Upon you and your loved ones.

    Just listened to their very first Lp, then "Last Days...," "Head to the Sky," "Open Our Eyes" and "I Am" albums. "Love Is Life," "Head to the Sky" and "Way of the World" all had me crying like a Baby. SO many memories of my life came forward. I was fortunate to have watched EWF perform twice. Once at my alma mater Central State of OH summer of '72, then years later in the early 80's at UD Arena in Dayton, OH.

    Thank you for this Preston! I have so much love and respect for Maurice White and Earth Wind & Fire! I have so many of their albums That’s the Way of the World, All’N’ All, I Am, The Best of Earth, Wind & Fire Vol. II. I still want to get Spirit because I love Getaway, Saturday Nite, and On Your Face. I saw them in concert in 2010, sadly Maurice wasn’t there but Phillip Bailey and the band brought down the house!! My favorite band of all time

    Thanks for that brilliant synopsis, I am a lifelong fan of the Elements also and Maurice was a major musical force of this generation. Just as we lost George Duke and Gil Scott Heron in recent years, the musical outlook is greatly diminished with Maurice White's passing but I will hold on to his positive messages and creative spirit from now on.

    • @freein2339
      @freein2339 8 років тому +1

      +justatuch The real sad part about losing people like George Duke , Gil , "Sugarfoot" , Charles X is that their is a big big void of young talent that actually plays music...There are some young cats playing jazz but Black popular music had really taken a step back....

    • @jazzatnight
      @jazzatnight 8 років тому +1

      +freein2339 True that. Those type of artists come once in an lifetime, or an era. George Duke once said that many young artists have the musical creativity but lack the tools that can only be developed from playing real instruments and interacting with live veteran musicians .

    Preston Thank you so much for the commentary and all the info you provide about EW&F. I really appreciate you bro I turned 51 on March 9th I've been listening to EW&F since Mighty Mighty. I still consider them to be underappreciated if that makes sense I'm sure you understand, they are in a category all to themselves. In fact, you can't categorize them they are so unique and distinguished in such a special way they have always appealed to me since I was a child. Growing up and all the way through college everyone who knew me knew my feelings for EW&F, you had to be careful of the tone in which you discussed them (LoL). You do such a cool job talking about them and bringing so many little known facts to the forefront that I didn't even know, continue to carry the torch and shine the light in your own unique way, I also like the fact that you didn't have anything prepared and just spoke from your heart. Keep doing what you're doing. Thx Bro!!!

    I am a long time EWF fan since their very first album on Warner Bros....My favorite tune from that LP was "Moment of Truth"....I have seen them live many times and I was blessed to see them in their heyday in 1974 , 75 and 76.....Their sound live was like listening to a bright light....

    hey preston you nailed it on this video. i luv the off the cuff feel. i grew up as the lone ewf fan amongst my friends, everybody was into zeppelin and jethro tull and rush and then there was me, the white boy who liked ewf (and david bowie too). I gravitated towards the funky rhythms and the ballads. live Reasons was the anthem of my teen years. Verdine inspired me to pick up the bass and i'm still at it all these years later. It's funny, don't know if you realized it, but every time you picked up another LP you said "this one is probably my favorite" well guess what, I feel that exact way too! lol. Maurice White will always have a special place in my musical journey for envisioning and guiding this group. some of my favorites in chronological order: i think about loving you, i'd rather have you, zanzibar, all about love, burnin bush, love's holiday, i'll write a song for you, and let's not forget maurice's solo album -- lady is love, jamboree, switch on your radio ah ah yeah! lol and stand by me, very cool interpretation. ok i rambled enough, just sharing in the joy and sadness. too bad maurice took ill, who knows what other great music we'd have. unfortunately after in the stone there wasn't anything really to write home about. I dig al mckays band and their recreations.

    Knowledge of the band is on point. I'm sure you know that Philip Bailey wrote a book called Shining Star and a book written by Maurice himself which will be out in September. Philip's book of course tells of the inner workings of the band from his perspective. About as close as you can get for now, but when that book that Maurice penned before his "departure to the next plane" as was said in the liner notes about Charles Stepney in the "Spirit" album, that's about as close as the reader can get.

    I LOVE the All in All album. I bought it at age 15 in 1978; around there. Got in some trouble with my mom there behind it. But, I tell you, I am reading his memoirs. I didn't know about the movie That's the Way Of The World until I read that book. Still reading it and I had to back away, check out the music, immerse myself and check out videos like yours. Thanks.

    Greetings, Elder. Sorry in advance for the length of this post. LOVE your video. I, too feel the same way about Maurice White. As a 5-yr old in the late 70s, I recall My Father putting their albums on the turntable while we were housecleaning and other household activities, and then I would soak in their music. Also, was mesmerized by the visual treats on their album covers, and then would go research what all the symbols meant, where they came from, as well as the music. The album that hooked me big-time was "ALL N' ALL", followed by "I AM" , "THAT'S THE WAY OF THE WORLD", and then my education continued-up through "ILLUMINATION" (Slammin' album), to the recent, "NOW, THEN, & FOREVER". I have a 9-Yr Old Daughter and I hip her to EWF and any other young Brotha or Sista I can to their awesome music. I agree-EWF is THE BADDEST BAND in history. Some recent acts that did some awesome EWF covers are Mint Condition, Lalah Hathaway, D'Angelo and a few others. Thanks for posting. Question-how did you get all those autographs?

    Tem coisas dificeis de aceitar ou entender, mesmo sabendo que faz parte do nosso crescimento, da ordem natural das coisas e principalmente, que as mesmas acontecem por acreditar que Deus em sua infinita bondade e Amor sabe o que é melhor para todos nós, por mais dificil que tudo pode ser.
    Enfim, demorei para me manifestar, pois, assim como a tristeza nos abate ao perdemos parentes ou entes queridos, nos calamos para refletir e orar, relembrar os bons momentos em que vivemos ou compartilhamos junto dos mesmos, chorei !
    Maurice White, nunca foi meu familiar ou parente de sangue.
    Maurice White, foi para mim, muito mais que laços fisicos, sim..., foi e para sempre será, o encontro espiritual de almas afins, irmãs na grande familia espiritual e admirado e respeitado por mim, pelo laço mais poderoso que unifica todos os sentimentos e virtudes mais nobres, o Verdadeiro Amor, a fraternidade no mais alto grau de sua essencia.
    Estou sentindo muito pela sua partida, triste, mas tenho a certeza que sua missão no plano fisico, foi devidamente conduzida, realizada e eternecida pelo abrangente Amor universal com a qual Ele sempre se entregou.
    Meu coração, bateu em um ritmo diferente, forte, rápido, mas não com a alegria de suas canções e melodias, Maurice White, e sim com a tristeza de sua partida.
    MAURICE WHITE, tua partida do plano fisico, leva um pouco do meu egoísmo, de achar, que minha vontade de te-lo entre nós fisicamente estaria, acima do, Amor Divino da infinita bondade de Deus.
    Segue em Paz, meu irmão. Tua obra está eternizada em minha Alma e o Amor que sinto por Voce, me dá a certeza que Deus permitirá reencontra-lo.
    Maurice White, The Captain, Lider, Mentor, Mestre...my hero !
    Love "Earth Wind & Fire" !

      Obrigdo irmao. Suas palavras sao verdade..Ha muita coisa dificeis aceitar ou entender..Essa banda foi muito importante durante meu juventude aqui em dos EUA. Lembrei escutando a musica se chama "Clover" e no final ouvir um instrumento nunca antes ouvido. Descobriu foi uma cuica do Brasil..Anos depois eu ja descobri musica do seu pais e este mesmo instrumento. Agora sou um grande fa da cultura e musica Brasileira. Eu agradeco Maurice White e sua banda por me apresenta este som misterio da cuica e abrindo a porta da musica Brasileira. Tristeza mesmo que ele ainda nao esta mais...mas a obra dele vai continuar pra quem ter ouvidos para ouvir...paz
