Very beautiful music. I wish there was subtitles so I could understand the talking. That's what's so amazing about the language of music though, one is born fluent already.

The oldest bagpipes are Hittite. However, the path of spread, as you can see, is from the Middle East through Greece, the Balkans(Bulgaria, Macedonia, Syrbia, Croatia, Slovenia)Rome, and all the way to the northwestern parts of the continent. If we have information about bagpipes in the Bulgarian lands from the X century and because of a Persian traveller who visited the Eastern Roman Empire, then information about Scottish bagpipes is only from the XVI century. But that doesn't mean anything. One piece of information includes a festive whistle and the other is for a whistle. The Scottish bagpipe made an impression of a fighting musical instrument, but before it was such it existed as a festive one.
We can say for sure that the Balkan bagpipe is older than the Scottish one.

Yeah, good guess. There is no actual evidence of where it began - Hittites, Greece (founded in 1820), bla bla bla. But, again, good guess.

There's a much simpler explanation, it's an Indo-European instrument. Why people forget that all Indo-European tribes were one in the beginning boggles my mind. We basically speak the same language from Iceland to India. Yes, including Hittite.
