Metroid hunters for the DS was UNHEARD OF when that came out. I remember me and 3 other kids crowding around my friend to watch him play because he was the only one with a DS at the time. we literally watched him play until it got dark outside. What a great memory.
I remember shitting myself as a 8 year old trying that demo out for the first time on Christmas. 🤌 Had that phat grey ds
The multi-player was addicting
yea The game also received the awards for "Best Graphics", "Best Shooter/Action Game", and "Best Wi-Fi Functionality" from Nintendo Power for 2006.
Actually everyone had heard of it since the you got a demo of it when you bought a DS.
Sorry but that game was garbage, and the controlling scheme was not comfortable at all
Some ideas for another episode, because I love seeing the ds pushed.
-Ghost trick phantom detective
-nanostray 2
-metal slug 7
-ni no kuni
-dragon quest 9
-dark spire
-little red riding hood zombie BBQ
I'm probably missing some stuff, but then again the library is massive.
The character animations in Ghost Trick are great.
@@TXFDA so true
tnx
COP the recruit is an amazingly impressive game, they basically fit all of NYC from driver parallel lines on there and got it running at 60FPS, mad respect
Part 2 on the way! Will be sure to include it!
Graphically, it is amazing indeed. But everything else within is mediocre, sadly.
I had C.O.P.: The Recruit for the Nintendo DS years ago, sold it during the 2008 housing crisis and then over a decade later, I managed to FINALLY find a CIB copy of the game for a reasonable price.
Funny, before this video, a C.O.P.: The Recruit video was in my suggested video list and I went to eBay just to see how much the game was going for nowadays. As of early this morning, not a single US copy for auction, none! Only the European version and most are loose copies.
@@NYCJoeBlack yeah I live in the UK and I checked eBay and there are many copies of the game, strange that they are so scarce in USA
@@poy110 - Yeah, not sure why that is. I know, in the US, games like Grand Theft Auto and. Call of Duty type of games are extremely popular, so maybe that is the contributor? Could be that not a lot of copies were made? It is a very impressive game for the handheld, so it would be a great addition to a collector’s library.
358/2 still stands among my most favorite games I’ve played, and I still wonder how they managed to cram such an experience on a game card
They stuck it in, if you know what i mean
gta Chinatown
So crazy that the final mix is just all cutscenes
@@Wario_ManThat pissed alot of people off and they still havent given a reason for it
Ghost Trick is another really impressive game on the DS. Especially the animations.
Will add it it for part 2 🙂
Its just the visual style though. The game has 3d models rendered down to 2d and thats why it looks so smooth
@@schwipsy hey, the same thing's true for DKC on the SNES. It can still be graphically impressive even if it doesn't push the hardware to the limit.
@@Mystemo i think it would technically be visually impressive, because graphically is specific to graphics
@@thatvideogamesshow The wizard of oz beyond the yellow brick road is my favorite :D
Dementium 1, 2 and Moon need to be mentioned on the next video. Amazing visuals at 60FPS.
In the works 🙂
well now, did not expect a Wizard of Oz game to be an awesome looking RPG
It’s a really good game! Well worth giving it a go 🙂
One of my favorite memories is my friends and I all playing the Metroid Prime Hunters multiplayer through local wireless while on a long bus ride for an overnight field trip. I remember we were having so much fun that even the teachers looked happy for us.
Mario 64 DS shows how much potential the system had and it feels like they never pushed it the way they should have.
Mario 64 DS is hardly the most technically impressive DS game.
Still surprising that it was a *_Launch Title_*
Great list. I would have added the Dementium games, as well as Tony Hawk's American Sk8land, COP: The Recruit, Ridge Racer DS, Phantasy Star 0, and Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker. Maybe in the next video.
Thanks for the suggestions! Will include them for a part 2 🙂
I got a DSi XL for $60 few months ago and just marveled at the screen when running SNES or GBA emulators! It looks more glorious than a CRT!
recently completed the world ends with you, truly, a game with a graphic style and gameplay so good it should be considered art
Metroid Prime Hunters was indeed mind-blowing at the time. While I was critical of the single-player at the time, I'd love to re-visit it. The multiplayer on the other hand was the truly mindblowing part for me. Those online battles against everyone with friends were so fun. The different character abilities were awesome. Loved playing with Sylux w/the jumping crab attack thing and sniper.
Mario 64 DS blew my mind as a wee 8 year old boy.
Final Fantasy the 4 heroes of light, that game looks beautiful
Impressive video as always!
I want to suggest some more graphically stunning DS games that people didn't comment.
- Nostalgia (a great JRPG adventure based on the real world)
- Tales of Innocence (one of the underrated Tales of, only released in Japan but there is a fan translated English version)
- Trackmania DS (I think it's solid 60 fps also for this racing game)
- Any Rune Factory game series (I love this JRPG series)
- Naruto Shippuden - Ninja Destiny 2 (It's a very impressive fighting game)
- Mario Hoops 3 on 3 [Mario Slam Basketball] (Smooth graphics and overall fun gameplay by Square Enix with Nintendo)
- Jet Impulse (a graphical achievement for the DS, an aircraft arcade action game only released in Japan that actually you don't need any Japanese to play it)
- GTA Chinatown Wars (Self-explanatory)
- Blood of Bahamut (Final Fantasy meets Shadow of the Colossus. I would describe it like that)
Maybe you already added some of them in your previous DS related videos. But ok, those are my suggestions! Thank you!
Thanks mate! Glad you enjoyed the video, I’ll be sure to add some of these for part 2 🙂
Some of the clips for 358/2 Days are from Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded
Awesome games, DS was incredible and still is
Totally agree!
Moon DS is great looking as well
WTF happened to Dragon Quest IX ? Not even a fan of DQ games but that thing has different assets for every piece of gear in the game and the world is absolutely stunning with complex environments. I honestly don’t know how they managed to push that many polygons and textures.
I got my first DSi a few months ago and this video is very useful to me. Thank You!!!
Glad you found it helpful Gendou!
Except for dark dawn and okamiden, it feels like the system peaked early in the visual dept. Most of the games shown here were released early in the DS life.
amazing quality as always, I love the DS so much its one of my favorite consoles
Needs part2 including the Japan only released but got fan translation. Saga series, Ni no Kuni. Also official released Tokyo Beatdown, 007 (forgot the title something with Blood), Brother in Arms, Lufia Rise of the Senestrals and Dragon Quest IX and Joker Series.
I got the fan translation of ni no kuni last year and man is it amazing to look at especially in the in engine cutscenes
I've also played dragon quest 9 and i love love it
Blood bahamut is what your trying to say.
@@Goldfire345 is nino kuni worth playing on nintemdo ds?
@@playstationtwo877 yeah its worth playing its pretty different from the experience of the ps3/pc version although in my experience it's definitely best played on real hardware with something like an flash cart or on a phone emulator like drastic due to the spell drawing alot easier to work with it when you actually have a touch screen
@@Goldfire345 is nino kuni a long game?
Ok but like what emulator are these previews being shown with? Because I can tell you Okamiden does NOT look that crisp in my DS
I gave you a like for your descriptions on the videogames. I especially liked your descriptions of Okamiden and Super Mario 64 DS
I was surprised, but so happy to see Solatorobo in this! It really is very underrated. I hope some people consider picking it up, though it's kinda hard to find now. It's a lovely game. c:
I know. I remember the chills I got when I first "finished" the game and found out there's more to the story. They even went as far as to changing the intro animation.
It's one of my most treasured DS games and I would love to experience playing it again for the first time.
Have you seen how expensive a copy is? Damn....
I’m surprised you left out DQ9
Part 2 incoming 🙂
Great channel, sometimes I forget about all the games I had on DS!
Great video as always!
Just wondering will twitch streams be happening again soon? I really enjoyed the first stream
For sure David! Just working out some kinks 🙂
Great list my friend. I'm gonna grab some of those.
I always thought Mario 64 DS looked really good for DS.
Avalon Code, COP, Lufia, Asphault Urban 2, many others.
Please!! What is the song starting at 10:00?? So nostalgic but i just can't place it.
I was kinda expecting Radiant Historia since that game has a cool look
There is a control hack for Metroid Prime Hunters that allows 2nd joystick look rather than touchscreen. Also, same thing for Zelda Phantom Hourglass. You can fully control on the face buttons now making a normal console play experience.
Cant wait for part 2!
Another list for me:
-Mario and Luigi RPG Series. Ds verisons.
-Sonic Rush series.
-Mario and Sonic at Olympic Games.
-Guitar Hero DS.
-Dragon's Lair DS.
-Mario Hoops 3-on-3.
-Kh Recoded.
-Pokémon ds games. ( I don't play them, but still impressed with the design).
-One Piece: Gigant Battle 1 and 2
-Dragon Ball Z: Supersonic Warriors 2, Attack of the saiyans And DragonBall Kai Ultimate Butoden (Japanese only which THAT sucks!).
-Bleach Blade of Fate, Dark Souls, and Flamebringer (Flamebringer is ANOTHER Japanese only game which that sucks also!).
E3 Games: Bonuses.
Sonic E3 2004.
Halo DS E3: Halo: Dimensional System.
woah, that wizard of Oz game literally looks like a ps2/psp game. Did you see those reflections and the details on dorothy? I seriously didnt think any third party games on DS looked that good. I do remember mario kart being really really smooth on my sister's DS.
Dragon ball z ultimate butouden
Final fantasy III/IV
Dragonball origins/2
Resident evil deadly silence
Castlevania order of ecclesia
Pokemon black 2/white 2
And ninja gaiden dragon sword just to name a few 🙂
Even Call of Duty is impressive. Lots of games are beautiful like the Golden Sun on the end of the video.
Talks about graphically impressive games, *bumps up internalresolution in the emulator.
Look guys how good it looks
. Idunno i feel like he shouldn't bumpup the resolution when talking about graphically impressive games while showing game play to prove the point. They don't look like this on actual hardware and while i do agree with his pics its just hard to take this seriously when he uses graphics settings to artificially better his gameplay.
Resolution has nothing to do with graphics
Excellent list! I have had the pleasure to enjoy some of these games.
I've recently discovered one excellent game, don't know exactly if it fit on a list like this, it has good graphics for the DS though but... it's called Tokyo Beat Down! It's like if Yakuza meets Street of Rage, check it out if you haven't already!
Sweet list brother 👍
Cheers Gaz!
You totally forgot the gta version on the ds, named Chinatown Wars
Of course since it's a nintendo ds game (for hardware limitations ) rockstar done a top-down 3d games, but it still has impressive shading and lightning, and it fits so good on the ds tiny screen though.
Just re-bought a DS lite in perfect condition for 20 uk pounds , still one of my favourite handhelds ,taking notes on this to download the roms
Batman:The Brave and the Bold,LOTR: Aragons Quest, Brothers In Arms, etc.
I needed this video back in 2010
Damn how did you miss that triple shell
golden sun dark dawn summon animation is just 😘
it made me believe that ds was as powerful as ps2 (ik its not but it was that awesome looking 😂)
100% Okamiden within 3 days on my iPhone via Delta, highly recommended. It's a shame Kamiya left Capcom so Okami 2 or a sequel to Okamiden won't happen.
again the footage shown are from an emulator with anti aliasing and 4x resolution right?
I really love your vids.
The presentation is top notch.
Cheers Chris I really appreciate that 🙂
love to see some kingdom hearts recognition here :)
Wizard of oz was originally a book
dragon quest IX is more graphically impressive than golden sun..... a shame nobody remembers
in true Square Antics fashion
Nice video ! But you forgot Rayman DS (Rayman 2 : The Great Escape) which is a very good port.
I've been enjoying your content for the most part, but you had a few major inaccuracies here that I feel need to be pointed out. Half of the footage you used for KH 358/2 Days was from an entirely different game: Kingdom Hearts RE: Coded... basically if Sora is the main character, it's the wrong game in terms of your footage. They even use different command systems so you can easily tell in the lower left.
Also, the issue of framerate on Super Mario 64 DS... I have to assume all of this footage is emulated and not captured on real hardware... meaning comments like that can very easily be incorrect, so I would tread lightly with them.
A lot of your other videos have introduced me to a great number of interesting looking games I haven't heard of and I thank you for that, just thought I'd give a bit of constructive criticism.
Didnt realise there was another Okami game being made ,and it was on the DS too
Mobilr Suit Gundam 00 DS was a JPN only game but it looked very good
Castlevania(s)?
Not to crap on the GBA Golden Sun games as they are near and dear to my heart, but story was not their strong point either.
Ni no kuni is a good shout. Very beautiful and is a very underrated game.
I’ll have to include it for a part 2!
Is nino kuni worth playing on nintendo ds?
@@playstationtwo877 Yes. Great story, graphic and gameplay. It's worth your time so get a English patched one.
@@jiraiyathebellend3370 is ninokuni a long game?
Great video!
✌️😁
Thanks Fabio!
was surprised there was no mention of dragon quest monsters joker. if you like 3D and cell shaded style that game is def one of of the best looking DS games. IIRC they ported DQ8s engine to the DS.
another is cop the recruit that game just look insane.
also kinda funny you mentioend KH days but then showed footage from recoded as well (which is also a looker but yeah ;?)
KH 358/2 days and Re:Coded are two different games. Was that intentional? Seems intentional, seeing as your gameplay is upscaled, and you would have had to consciously load both separately.
How is that monster still standing after that combo to the balls? 10:29
I don't get complaints about Dark Dawn's story (other than it missing the follow up game) did they not play the first two? If anything the narrative and plot is stronger than the first two.
I don't think I've ever played Metroid Prime: Hunters solo. I've only played the multiplayer.
The single player game was way better than the multi-player, so much better. If you still have a way to play it you won't be disappointed.
You should make a ds collection video
Great idea!
Solatorobo, I didn't think think that anyone knows of it but me... BUT THE ONLY REASON I KNOW IT IS, because I'm LOONEY!!! But really thank you for mentioning it. I was actually shocked! I thought, WHAT MY SPECIAL GAME THAT KNOWS ABOUT!!! Hahaha!
Oh and good luck to everyone trying get it! I hop you find it one day for under "500" . X3
@@LooneyLukey is that a long game?
I Spent About 45 Hours Playing It But I Went Full On Completionist Because Well... I Had To Get My Money's Worth, That And It Really Is A Beautiful Game For The Ds. But If You Played Casually You Could Beat It Start To End In About 20 Hours. It's Also Not Hard I Only Died Once Simply Because I Wanted To See What Would Happen. There Is A Bit Of A Challenge In The Battle Arena, But That Is Optional. You'll Probably Really Be Playing It For The Story, Music, Likeable Character's, And The Prementioned Graphics. The Fact That It's Not Hard Is Not A Problem. Besides I Was Playing Through All Six Mega Man Zero Games At The Time So I Found This To Quite Enjoyable. And It's Still The Rarest Game I Have, I Don't Even Own Tailconcerto On The Ps1 And I Don't Think I Will Ever Be Able To, I'm Only Lucky That I Got Solatorobo When I Did But, Raredy Really Doesn't Matter I Wish More People Could Play It But. IT'S SO EXPENSIVE! And One Of The Only Other Games That I Played On The Ds That I Can Compare To Is, Okami Den. Witch Is A Amazing Game As Will And If You Can't Get Solatorobo. Then You Should Check It Out. But You Can Always... "Emulate" And It Would Probably Be The Best Way Stream It Too So Ya! And There Is Also Fuga Melodies Of Steel, Which Is... Different. But It Is Available On Almost Everything And Is Only Digital. Which Yes Means It's Not Rare Or Even Physical, But That Also Means Everyone Can Get It Easily. And Is A Pretty Good Game Too ! Well... I've Ranted On Loooong Enough! I Hope. Any Other Questions Just Ask, I Hope You A Find Copy Sometime. And I Hope You Found My Rant Useful And Enjoyable... Ok Good By! X3
@@LooneyLukey lol I just play it on my ds emulator
Awesome!!! I Know It's Not The Best Game In The Entire World But, For A Game From The Ds fwoooo!!!
Great video
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it 🙂
I think it's time to play some DS, okamiden
It’s a solid game! Well worth giving it a go!
@@thatvideogamesshow thanks , i Will sounds fun
Also, play: Batman the Brave and the Bold,LOTR Aragons Quest, and Brothers In Arms.
Fantastic channel
Thanks Joey!
Sonic racing is the biggest technical feat on DS along with Mario 64 ds
Also the cod games. I really enjoyed them.
Does anyone know what is that background music on Metroid Prime Hunters part video?
what emulater you play ? Android or PC ?
Pokemon black & white has insane graphic for ds
Dude I *NEED* to know what the intro music is
5:10 that was re:coded
Solatorobo looks a lot like skyward swords map in the sky
okamiden
super mario 64 ds
the world ends with you

legend of zelda phantom hourglass n spirit tracks
the wizard of oz beyond the yellow brick road
metroid prime hunters

Man forgot hotel dusk room 215
I really like dragon quest monsters joker 1 ds. Came out a year before pokemon diamond and pearl. Full 3d world and 3d monsters. I'm like how they get this to work but pokemon was still using sprites.
0:24 game name?
They literally said it was Okami Den
No Waluigi's Pinball!
Can you play Okamiden without playing the first game?
For sure, it’s the prequel to okami 🙂
@@thatvideogamesshow Thank you!

"Graphically Impressive DS Games"
Shows emulator footages.
If you play the games on a D's lite they look just as good as this footage though the games were designed with a small screen in mind.
So cool.👏🏻👏🏻
Can you do a ds viedo again like ds vs PSP and the PSP and ds are both goog
Metroid prime was a good looking game but the controls were not very intuitive.
Watch this then bed, cheers!
Oh man, but obviously you're showing those games emulated and you're rendering them at much higher resolution than the DS is capable of. That's quite dishonest
True but for the ds these games are still impressive. Plus the gameplay is fantastic quality.
Doesn't matter they still look incredible in their native resolution, what he's doing doesn't make these games any less graphically impressive
They look even better on original hardware because of the lower resolution screens
I've played a couple of those games on my new 3ds and those games basically look like this just slightly more pixelated but the difference is minimal
Man what what are you even talking about bro 😂
00:04 can I ask the name of that game at the DS, it took ny atention
Advance wars dual strike 🙂
@@thatvideogamesshow that's why I love this channel, thanks a lot
