Finally... Thank you for showing when your foot pushes the button(s) to start and stop. Too much time is taken with many other looper tutorials shredding and doing their own guitar doodling stuff vs. actually showing how the pedal works.
Alex Hutchings is a fantastic guitar player, because he started off the right way. While growing up, Alex intensely studied the many styles, modes, tone, and improv lead creations of the amazing Steve Lukather. You can even hear Lukather-style nuances, in everything he plays. That's why his leads sound soooo sweeeeeet! BRAVO ALEX!
Masterguitarist...managing all at the same time...Alex has got a real talent for musical intention , that's why he is topnotch in demonstrating what one can do with a loopersystem or any other device...to me the BEST on youtube...thx again Alex...
the more I see of this guy, the more I like. he's obviously into his music and plays very well, his facial expressions are great; loves his tunes and does not give a damn who knows it.
I have just bought my first looper..Boss RC3..this guy can truly play..excelent technique combined with a good sound..love his musical aproach...best looper demo by far..thx Alex....
Not normally a fan of anything more than a 6 string but I really do like how Alex applies the lower strings in the funk jam in the middle, he's incredibly creative.
We are experiencing not only a great guitarist but one with an organized brain unlike the downvoters here. He has mastered all of this and is a fine arranger as well. Thank you Alex!
Its because he looks like the 'Predator' that killed Arnie's team and only for Arnie he might be sizing up your skull for a 'prize' now! "Too small!" he would exclaim.
Anyone who produces an incredibly inspiring video like this one always comes under fire from the pathetic, inadequate fraternity who use negativity to hide their own failings.
Good point and Two reasons 1. Some people are never happy 2. In that unhappy list half are internet trolls who are complete losers and hence can never see a good thing
i think because some guys look at it for 1 hour, and didnt learn a thing. Couldn't replicate a song, melody or technique. Honestly, if ur just starting out, or your a beginner. This might not be the place for you,yet The ease, skill and tecniques will mostlikely have a disheartening effect. No shame in mastering the fundamentals before coming here. That way it might motivate instead of frustrate you.
Wow. I'm so glad I found this video. I got a Boomerang III for my birthday recently, and want to use it live, but I've been frustrated with figuring out how to actually do interesting stuff with just my guitar. There's a local art festival in the fall where I live that I'd like to perform solo at (first time doing such a thing on my own). Really great video, I learned a lot on what ways I can use a looper with my guitar.
This guys on some Boss demo videos too. One of the best guitarists I've seen, and he really gets into it. That's a good thing and facial expressions don't matter, it's the music that does. Have you seen the faces that SRV made when he was playing? Awesome.
At 2:54 is what I think of as a really soulful slide, anyone can do it but there's the littlest subtle way that can make it a big difference to someone's ear, I hope to get that vibrato and feel in my playing"
I like Pierce's facial expression and head movement after Hutchings starts soloing. I think I'm going to start doing this when I'm listening to grooves.
This guy looks straight up right outta the Oblivion character creator.. Bosmer to be exact. Like he'd be a relative of the blonde guy who follows you around after you beat the Arena.
In regards to your use of the RC-30, could you please explain how and why you have the FS-6 hooked up with both the A and the B instead of using the middle A&B input? I use both of these pedals in my setup and was wondering what advantages and disadvantages those different setups allow.
Alex, every time I come back to view this short intro into Creative Looping, I am truly stunned by both your extreme proficiency on the guitar, and also by your sense of melody, harmony and rhythm. Now I know that you have had to dedicate an enormous amount of time practicing your craft/art but, the question I truly hope you will answer in this forum is, Did you rehearse the parts (albeit too brief parts), that you played in this masterpiece of a lesson, or did you just do 'spontaneous improvisations' ?? If possible, could you please answer this for me ? Thanks in advance mate.
Being a guitarist, i always thought 8 strings were for downtuned chugging, eg - Meshuggah. How wrong i was, what great playing & phrasing by Alex, very nice. Tobin Abasi play a nice 8 string as well.
@dftba171 I really don't understand your criticism. He made perfect use of the 8 string in this context by using the low strings to create bass tracks.
Is it possible to sync midi to or from Dr 770 to the Roland 300 looper? I have tried and probably not doing right cause there both Roland. I was looking at there new Drum machine but afraid it would not sync either. Thanks much.
It's a Kahler :D It's like a Floyd rose that you can lock in place but it's known for going sharp when you bend and won't go back into pitch until you drop the bar :D

One of the few guys who makes good use out of 8 strings.
Yeah man, I finally found out why we need 8 strings.
One of the others being Rob Scallon
That was some splendid jazz at the end
his practicing sounds better than 90% of music I hear on radio these days
BINGO !!! 'You hit the Nail right on it's Head' my friend. This guy Makes music, no questions about that fact. He's Ridiculously GOOD !!!
ikr, sounds like a Grammy-winning John Mayer guitar solo.
Make that 99% now!
2:23 is so amazing, especially that slide at 2:29, makes me feel good... so good...
By far one of the best examples of looping...
That was an absolute joy to listen to!
Great finish on the guitar body, and the maple fretboard makes it pop!
Every time I see a new video from Alex, his guitar seems to have grown another string?
+CountryHouseGent hahaha :-)
And hair
Rik neilson effect. Every time I saw him he got another neck on his guitar
It really does , such a great player

Stunning musicality and freedom on the instrument.
Thank you Alex Hutchings for an eye opening nicely done video. You are a fantastic player! Thanks for sharing.
Awesome player & teacher...
Last minute was worth the price of a ticket . Beautiful
Man I love 7 and 8 strings, so versatile. It gets so boring just seeing them in metal.
this dude makes the best use of it I've seen. Love his vids.
@@hereonmars charlie hunter has a very cool approach to the instrument as well, you should check him out.
@@MrN0b0dy85 yeah gotta to meet and see him live 5 years ago. He was such a chill dude.
Wow. I'm so glad I found this video.

Really great video, I learned a lot on what ways I can use a looper with my guitar.
I own the RC-30 but I got kind of confused and left it for a while - this clears up so much! Off to jam I go! Cheers, Guitarist!

Nice work at the 7:00 mark. The "smells so bad" guitar face is legendary!
You play very well and it is beautiful to ear you. You are an inspiration to play always better.
Thank you Alex, you've got the Magic.

crosbonit they strategically placed that looper video there to hide him creaming his pants.
in all seriousness, I've switched to 4ths tuning because of him - and so far (6 days) I am loving it. I don't think I will go back to standard.
Amazing demo there. and some great chops too. Been thinking of getting into looping since I am so big on home recording it seems natural to me.
yeah badass looping and he used several looper pedals. and the duo jam at the end was killer!!!
That last example was awesome. Could have listened for hours.
awesome lesson, awesome playing by alex, and amazing violin player touching.
Great jammin' at the end there! Just loved it!
What hes doing at the 5min mark is insane, getting these more dynamic boss pedal setups are tough. Awesome if you can nail the techniques
Very nicely done and great playing from both of you!
Sounds great, good intro to how looping works too. Thanks.
wow that last jazz part on the guitar blew my mind
Great demo with real good jazz guitar playing!
He is a fucking legend
+Hartmann and he's a Funky Legend!
Legend as in the guy most guitarists are waiting for his album, and waiting, and waiting, ...................
Alex Rules Sheesh! What an amazing artist. The duo at the end was incredible.
Great performance and also very informative. Very well presented information.
This guy looks straight up right outta the Oblivion character creator.. Bosmer to be exact. Like he'd be a relative of the blonde guy who follows you around after you beat the Arena.
I'm almost falling asleep because it's so smooth
This guy was at my college afew years back promoting Roland Gear. Awesome player

The end piece was sublime
The worst thing in this video is that they cut out the remaining jam in the end... They're just so good to listen! :D
This is massively useful. Thank you!
Excellent work on the looping, man.

What Chords and scales does he use in the beginning? So smoove
Being a guitarist, i always thought 8 strings were for downtuned chugging, eg - Meshuggah. How wrong i was, what great playing & phrasing by Alex, very nice.
Tobin Abasi play a nice 8 string as well.
Great watch !🙏🏻✌🏻️🎸✨
Timing skills!!
Great teacher :D Even better ideas :3 And looks strangely like Mathew Horne
Every time. So awesome.
Alex has such great fret hand positional efficiency, never moving more than he needs to. He rivals Jack Thammarat and Rick Graham for that.
Nice video, lovely ideas.
this guy is amazing! seriously.
@dftba171 I really don't understand your criticism. He made perfect use of the 8 string in this context by using the low strings to create bass tracks.
hey!!! can we see more of you and john!?!?!?!?
Unmatched tone and feel holy crap.
Melodic Mastery made my day.
Can someone please tell me what scale or mode he is jamming in from 2:14 - 2:56? Its beautiful
Great guitar player! Very good lesson!
Alex is one of the most inspiring guitarists...
Well , what kind of music is inspiring for you may depend on your mood , but great things always do ?
