Never had a teacher like this. Please continue to put some other little melodies, for beginners. Simple chords please. Beginning in jazz and sure not alone. Thanks. Really nice. Bonjour from Nice, France.
I love the stacking towards the end with the bass and all that, but the first segment with just chords and him playing in Eb sounds super nice to my ears. Chords with some single string lines to go along with it ------- very, very nice.
THAT'S EASY FOR YOU TO PLAY,,,,,LOVE THE BRILLIANT RIFFING AT THE END, ONLY IF IT WERE AS EASY AS IT LOOKS, GREAT AXE AND TONE TOO, THE ENTIRE PACKAGE, BRAVO MATT, THANK YOU FOR SHARING, B
I did know that the Police Singer could play jazz that well!! Just kidding a remarkable similarity :) Great video you just had provided me with a great idea of how to use my lopper more efficiently
Guitar Peerless Cremona? Stupenda chitarra........come sempre un grazie e un bravo a Matt. Un saluto dall'Italia Max Guitar Peerless Cremona? Superb guitar ........ as always a thank you and a good at Matt. Greetings from Italy Max
I have a Jamman but haven't used it much. I just started watching this video. I think it is very important to note that he starts the loop pedal on the "and" of count 4, but he stops the loop right on the count of 1. I think he should have noted this, because it helps to establish a "seamless" loop. Now, I'm going back to the vid. Perhaps he mentions this later. OK, no he didn't mention it. Also, it would have been extremely helpful if he had included a shot of the timing of his double-foot press to stack on another recording towards the end so that it is absolutely clear how to do it.
I'm just starting to work with a looper and found this comment to be exceptionally helpful. I'm having a hard time consistently getting a loop without an interruption. Thanks!
Sorry, not sure what you're asking. Your quote "the end of count 4" doesn't look like it comes from any of the previous comments. If you mean my statement "the 'and' of count 4", then I observed that he started his looper by pressing the loop pedal on the 8th note following the 4th count of the measure (i.e. 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 AND). Hope that clarifies.
What loop pedal will allow to connect complete overdubbed loops with a new sequence of overdubbed loops to “stitch” a piece together? Like a DAW but in a loop pedal.
Thank you for a very informative and patient instruction method. So you are playing your Dorian and Mixolydian scales along with your Ionians? Is their any specific pedals you like. I see a lot of players using the Ditto 2. Scottsdale AZ
Well on these two chords thats quite easy I guess. B is the fifth of the E scale. Like if you go E F G A B C D E. And the fifth always directs to the first. If you want to know, what key a song is in you need to find these two chords.
Which DVD is this actually on i.e. what title? I got lost trying to search on the web address you provide above. (UA-cam doesn't allow me to actually cite the URL for clarity due to fear that I might be a spammer apparently.)
I don't play jazz that much but what you are playing don't sound like it all goes together very good, it sounds like it is two songs trying to become one. Like I said I don't play much jazz but my ears don't lie.
actually his (jazz) licks are very simple and meant for beginners. and jazz sound really has lots of tension chords and chromaticism that maybe your ears aren't used to hearing. p.s. try listening to some songs by earl klugh so you can be familiarized with its different feel from pop/rock
Musically no problem at all , sir. The lesson is for beginners to how to play basic jazz scales. The lesson seems very effective and easy,, which means it's very helpful for beginners
What a lovely tone

Awesome video very helpful and inspiring think I will start using a loop pedal more. What strings do you use?
Now you make me want to learn jazz guitar! How did you DO that? Great lesson, Matt!!
good lesson. Coming from an acoustic the electric world is different. The loop can help me with my progression any other suggestions?
What loop pedal will allow to connect complete overdubbed loops with a new sequence of overdubbed loops to “stitch” a piece together? Like a DAW but in a loop pedal.
Wonderful. Thank you.
Just great

You sir are awsome!
Thaks for lesson
So, based on the two chords you chose to be your backing track, how do you decide which scale or scales to use in accordance with those chords?
Well on these two chords thats quite easy I guess. B is the fifth of the E scale.
Like if you go E F G A B C D E. And the fifth always directs to the first. If you want to know, what key a song is in you need to find these two chords.
Wow! Can I have such talent?!
Great
