So far this is the best video that explains the RC3 that I have found. My big question was around the quantizing. I have called several dealers and have not got an answer regarding it and have looked extensively on line to get a simple answer and he gave it in less than 7 min. Bravo. I am off to get one!
grrrreat demo and that blues stuff sold me I picked mine up yesterday 279 dollaz where im from and im v happy with it.now I can collaborate with myself.blues is the roots everything else is just the fruits
Thanks Dave, you are an amazing guitarist, but you demonstrated how easy this product is to use and how much fun you can have with it for everyday players like me.
O.K., fine. I just ordered one. I'll lay down guitar rhythms to practice fiddle and mandolin to. It's one thing to practice by myself, but when I play with the band I have messed up because I haven't been used to playing with the other instruments. Dave, you did a great job explaining this pedal (the best on the internet), and played some really enjoyable music as well. Thanks.
Thank you Dave, I'm stuck on getting one of these pieces of fun. I'm so looking forward to my purchase. Rock on, and p p play the blues for ever and ever. The Lord
It’s a great way to practice but even better I use it to record full songs as short loops can be repetitive and annoying. Say you want to record a song with an intro, verse chorus, middle eight, etc, you can set the drum pattern, play the complete rhythm guitar track until it’s as good as you can get it, then I record a bass line again until I get it right. This is a great way to learn to record a 3 or 4 minute song that will drastically improve your playing. You can play, sing and solo over it. Hit write and it’s saved! I will never practice without one ever again!
I wanted to watch this video to learn about the looper pedal. I looked at the comments to see if there were any good questions about the product. Then I found that there are dozens of juvenile delinquents bullying this guy over his name. Grow up people. Good grief
Excellent but a little brief. I was looking for a more in-depth explanation of it's uses and you look to me like the guy to do it, you have a great approch. I'll listen to anything you put out there. Thanks, TW
No, the video was produced by Roland (i.e., Boss), and what the video starts with is giving the viewer several very good reasons to listen this person's opinions. He is a professional musician who has tried many different loop pedals, so he is giving us VERY VALUABLE info.
I saw Steve Vai a few years back in Portland and He was introducing the band and they went full force into the next song and Steve stopped the song, dead in it's tracks, because he forgot to introduce Dave! Steve couldn't have been more apologetic for forgetting his buddy in the intro and the band was on fire from that point, forward! What a great show that was!!! Dave is D'Man!!!
Thanks for the excellent test drive there Dave. I really enjoyed it and will check into it further for price, ease of use etc. I spotted the Boss Loop while looking at a Maton guitar review and thought 'hello this could be good to have'.
it depends where do you put the looper in the chain. If you put it in the beginning of the chain, of course it will affect the loop. You just have to "follow the signal" and see what happens in the way. I would recommend to use it at last in your chain.
This guy probably heard it all growing up. But he does great job here demoing the pedal, guy can play too... I'm not the biggest Vai fan, but I can certainly appreciate the level of playing needed to have a gig in his band. I have the older Boss Looper...awesome! So much fun and will vastly excel your playing.
Just a great review from a great player . Humble person. tells you how easy the product is and WHY playing over a backing track is vital to you becoming a great player. I am buying one today. These comments about Dave being "a second guitarist for Steve Vai" are incredibly stupid. You think Steve Vai was put down when he was ZAPPAS second guitarist? Morons
So if for instance I have x number of loops and I need to erase the second and the nineteenth one, i'll move the loop outer ring until I see number 2 and 19 on the display and keep pressing the pedal to erase them. Correct me if I am wrong
Hello, I have a few problems with my Loop Station RC-3. 1) does not work with the metronome exactly, has like a jump after push the first clic and the first chord is always out of the clic. This bothers me a lot... 2) Using 2 Boss footswichs for changue the banks, sometimes he works crazy and all my playbacks works at the same time with the sound of the metronome in another tempo...crazy, the footswich activates be themselfs the tempo and the clic and destroy all my job. 3) Trying to upload in the official site of BOSS, the site does not work, gives error. Can you help me? Thank you. (my english is no good, excuse me, I m from Spain).
Yes, it's under the foot switch. Don't know how long it will last. It works with the 1spot 9v power source so I haven't used the battery for a long period of time.
You can store multiple loops, I keep around 30 on mine and leave the rest of the free space for brainstorming. If you are planning on using it to gig you will want the RC-30, it's just easier for starting, stopping, and switching tracks.
The problem is, if you use the effect of the ampli (eg distortion) you mess up the signal coming from the RC-3 unit. You must turn the amp to clean sound, no effect. All effects must go before RC-3 (distortion too). So you either use pedals, or you use the send/return channel for the RC3
I bought one of these today and I have 30 days to figure it out, or it goes back for a full refund.. So far these video's are all HYPE..!! "..gets you up and running...!! user friendly, so very very easy.." Meanwhile, it comes with a tiny black and white user booklet that, would fit on one piece of plain white paper... but don't let that bother you because, "IT'S SO......... EASY...........!!!!!!!!!" Thanks for that, really appreciate that, great news really..! I mean that, no BS..!
When the amp is in the distortion channel, it distorts all sounds going into it. If you want to have one clean loop and one distorted loop you'll have to use a distortion pedal in front of the looper.
I have a question re: the looper. When I engage a distortion pedal or the "lead" channel of my amp the prev. loop I recorded takes on that sound, so I can't get a "rhythm" and "lead" loop. It is a single channel amp. Is that the amps fault or the loopers?
Basic question - what happens when you need to change chords within a song that you are practicing? It seems like when you use a looper, you are stuck in just "1" chord. Am I missing something here? How can a looper help an individual soloist who preforms on stage with a guitar and the songs have multiple chords?
the RC 3 Looper has like many record time hours .. plus you can expand with a microssd .. you can play through at least a intro, verse, chorus, break, and turn around .. let's say 96 bars .. draw up a chart with chord changes for those bars .. just like you would in the studio .. add overdubs and playback .. solo time
I'm really interested in the stereo capabilities. Can I put down a bass track on the left and a guitar rhythm track on the right? And where do the drums come in?
I have Roland Cube 40xl, and I don't know -where should I connect the looper? and, where should I connect the guitar to the looper? (By the way- good review!)
TON of questions: I always see these used with guitars. Can any instrument with a pickup be used? What about horns with mics? If a family of 3 were doing street music and each wanted to loop their own instrument would they need three of these? Can you loop vocals with this?
Great video!!!, thank you. I wonder how one should do with the RC-3 to record a phrase and continue to play it back without having to stop at all, so that one can play over it without overdubbing. Also, could this simple operation be done away of the pedal using a long cable connecting one or two footswitches (FS-5Ux2 or a FS-6) to the STOP/MEMORY SHIFT jack (i.e. I am thinking about setting the pedal in a rack tray with some other pedals connected to an audio switcher). I appreciate your answer
Awesome introduction, I just have one problem with using the rhythms. The first rhythm I get is a hi-hat on every count, but as I go through the different rhythms, this hi-hat keeps playing through it anyway which is really annoying... How do I get rid of that hi-hat and just only get the rhythm I'm selecting?
Hello Dave onda question if i create 2 loops but i want to use the first one how'd i do ? Can You help with that interrogant please i'd really appreciate
Hi, i'm just going to use this when I do my acoustic shows... meaning, just play a rhytm and then solo over it, then back to singing ... 1 man band idea .... how long can one layer be ? 30 seconds ? is there a maximum ? I don't need 5 layers ...
So far this is the best video that explains the RC3 that I have found. My big question was around the quantizing. Hey Dave, I have seen you live in Auckland NZ with Steve Vai, You Rock Man. Thank you for that experience.
Great video. Dave is a great player. I saw him play with Vai in Moscow in August. It was a great show.
Dude does not get enough love. Also, I scored the 30, for twenty bucks at Goodwill.
O.K., fine. I just ordered one. I'll lay down guitar rhythms to practice fiddle and mandolin to. It's one thing to practice by myself, but when I play with the band I have messed up because I haven't been used to playing with the other instruments.

I have the RC-30 and yes it's a must have! Thanks Dave Weiner!
As always Dave is a class act and a great insightful dude!
Great review, great player! This made me buy the pedal, its amazing!
Thank You Dave!!! Excellent product and tutorial.
Excellent explanation and demo. Clear and concise.
While teens make fun of his name he jams with Steve Vai.
steve vai is a dick tho
@@monke12355 why?
Best demostration of this pedal

Nice tutorial, thanks so much!!
I got one four years ago and it's awesome imo.
I wanted to watch this video to learn about the looper pedal. I looked at the comments to see if there were any good questions about the product. Then I found that there are dozens of juvenile delinquents bullying this guy over his name.
Grow up people. Good grief
It is sad and amazing how many people get stuck at age 12 and never really ever grow up.
Lighten up dude! His name is weiner! It's pure hilarity
... Spoiled BRATS WITH NO RESPECT! Thery need their teeth knocked out!
UA-cam comments are a different type of gross human

that's an awesome groove man! can't get enough of it!
I subscribe cause so far this is the most clear tutorial in how to use guitar loop...thanks so much sir👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
that blues solo was just gorgeous
Great Job Dave!
Thank you so much for this great demo, I am hopefully gonna get one soon
Fantastic lesson! Thank you a million!
Dave the blues Man ..love the video

heh.
thanks Dave just bought one of these and looking forward to getting it out and having a go used to use an old fostex 4 track recorder ( tape )
Dave is sooo under rated.
Dave you’re amazing
excellent video
There is a lot of us that miss a jazzswing groove on the RC-3.Can you please make an upgrade? Best regards Per M
WE LOVE YOU DAVE!!
You are great man .. Thanks ..
very humble way of expressing awsume dave
Now that’s what a Strat was made for, Devine sound.

Definitely picking up a looper. Looking at the rc10r. Not sure though this one looks really good and simple to use
So if for instance I have x number of loops and I need to erase the
second and the nineteenth one, i'll move the loop outer ring until I see
number 2 and 19 on the display and keep pressing the pedal to erase
them. Correct me if I am wrong
Thanks Dave
Thank you! it was a great Video! very informative
thanks.....have the rc-3 but you showed me the way to put it to use!!
Damn. No wonder Steve had this guy in his band, not only is he great as a player, but he has a perfect "Musician's mindset."
Yeah just what i need! Thanks maestro!
Nice simple demo; thnx
Great demo! Think I'll get one!!! Thanks!
you are awesome Dave !!!!!

Now is working the site...but in english. Is any option in spanish language for understand the update instructions? Thank you
Great video,thank you for sharing!!
This is exactly what i need!
awesome demo
Hi Dave! Great video! What kind of an amp are you using?
as im in the same position as you, i would probably suggest the rc30, where you can input drum loops from your pc. it really DOES help a lot
I use it in stereo for guitar also.....come out of my Line 6 M-13 into the M-13 directly to two amps......get some nice sound!!
Yes, it's under the foot switch. Don't know how long it will last. It works with the 1spot 9v power source so I haven't used the battery for a long period of time.

Only if your effects come after the pedal in the effects chain. I always run the looper as the last effect in my chain.
Yes That's how mine is set up as well.
The problem is, if you use the effect of the ampli (eg distortion) you mess up the signal coming from the RC-3 unit. You must turn the amp to clean sound, no effect. All effects must go before RC-3 (distortion too). So you either use pedals, or you use the send/return channel for the RC3
Great demo
thanks. great intro to looping
Thanks for this video, I am looking for a loops pedal, and this pedal seems very good!
Wonder what happens if you want to switch channels on your amp for a lead sound over a clean passage you just looped.
I bought one of these today and I have 30 days to figure it out, or it goes back for a full refund..
So far these video's are all HYPE..!!

Dave is awesome
Remember...you’ve got to plug the Output A in to turn the unit on !!!
Oh so that's why mine has never worked, hugh............ thanks for clearing that up for us.😝👍
I had the same issue!
Very taken with this pedal - even more so now. I just want to know how you connect it to the computer. Does it come with a USB cord?
Is there any chance to change drums? I mean to put something new instead of this 10 already uploaded to our rc-3?
If I have a chord progression in 7/8, will the pedal automatically put it in 4/4 messing me up, or is it fully controlled by tapping the pedal?
Basic question - what happens when you need to change chords within a song that you are practicing? It seems like when you use a looper, you are stuck in just "1" chord. Am I missing something here? How can a looper help an individual soloist who preforms on stage with a guitar and the songs have multiple chords?

Can you not take separate tracks off too? You can build up to but what do you need to bring tracks in and out?
My RC3 flashes DN when I try to reset it. How can I get it fixed?
Does anyone know how to keep a clean tone loop but change the tone to distorted without changing the loop running through an amp ?
I'm really interested in the stereo capabilities. Can I put down a bass track on the left and a guitar rhythm track on the right? And where do the drums come in?
great thing to have i was looking at the amp is that a roland and what model
I have Roland Cube 40xl, and I don't know -where should I connect the looper?
and, where should I connect the guitar to the looper?
(By the way- good review!)
Very Helpful!

heh. wiener.
Nice Demo. Is it possible to use it in a live performance.
Great vid!
I have the same one and when I tap once it's in play mode. I can't remember how to change it to record on one tap... Pls help... Thanks!
I'm just learning about these RC Im just impressed so far im going to get one for myself. I a decent guitar player, but i lack timing and rythem.
is this loop station pedal any good for more heavy staff?because i use quite a lot distortion
Great video!!!, thank you. I wonder how one should do with the RC-3 to record a phrase and continue to play it back without having to stop at all, so that one can play over it without overdubbing. I appreciate your answer
What should I purchase: rc-3, 30, or rc-300, Digitech Jamman two pedal, or solo? Which is the best of all. Thanks for sharing.
You can just add them via USB to user slots on the RC3. You can add your own WAV, MP3 files etc. It's a cool feature.
Is it possible to connect my microphone and my guitar same time? If yes, what cable should i use?
sold!
I couldn't stop laughing. I didn't read the description, it totally caught me by surprise
Awesome introduction, I just have one problem with using the rhythms. The first rhythm I get is a hi-hat on every count, but as I go through the different rhythms, this hi-hat keeps playing through it anyway which is really annoying... What amp are you using....nice sound.
Hello Dave onda question if i create 2 loops but i want to use the first one how'd i do ? Can You help with that interrogant please i'd really appreciate
Does adding effects to your guitar, affects the previous recordings on the loop?
how do I get tracks from the computer to the rc3? I love my RC3 by the way and this was a great video I would like to see more "How TO" videos Thanks
The Root Boy Cooks ! HDMI cable and download your tracks
Hi, i'm just going to use this when I do my acoustic shows... meaning, just play a rhytm and then solo over it, then back to singing ... 1 man band idea .... how long can one layer be ? 30 seconds ? is there a maximum ? I don't need 5 layers ...
Wim Roelants All the luck to you. One man band is sooooo stressful.
