    On this mid-September ride Joe and Riley decide to check out the South Shore of Montreal. Not our usual area so we were just winging it trying to find some decent trails. Some parked ATV trailers trailer tipped us off that there must be something nearby. After stopping to lend a helping hand to a Jeep owner who had not tools we set off. The trail was wet and some sections had this incredibly slippery mud. Everyone fell a few times. To wrap up the 2013 season we stuck the Ural away in its storage locker.

    I know that it's been a while , but thank you for sharing and being real.
    A lot of You tubers only show the best parts. Making their endeavors unrealistic and unreachable.
    You show the " down and dirty" which inspires this guy to give it a go and not worry about looking perfect.

      Thanks for the nice comment. I’ve ridden with a lot of people over the years at many events and there are a lot more of us regular riders than masters. Also met guys who talked a good game but when we hit the trail it was a totally different story. My view is that if you are having fun and it is a challenge whatever your skill level then it is all good.

    I remember the first time I rode in mud... I had a heavy bike, street tires and a pillion. My boots just started to slid and I was able to completely stop, looked at my pillion and she said "I trusted nothing is going to happen"...
    that X-Challenge is nice and light atleast :P

    just in case: Mitas (E-07) and Heidenau (K60 Scout) have M+S / snow tires for the F800GS...
    btw: great to see some vids after that long time!

    • @AwesomePlayers
      @AwesomePlayers  7 років тому

      Apparently too many tire companies were putting the M+S on tires that weren't really snow tires. The law here uses the new standard where there is a snowflake and mountain symbol. There is only one motorcycle tire that has it and they don't fit a Ural. As well if the Police see you driving on snow and ice even with the legal tires you are still apt to get a ticket for dangerous driving. I wouldn't run the Ural anyways since the sheer volume of salt used here would eat it.

    As always, great video. Quick question though. I have a Triumph 800XC and do tend to enjoy trying small routes. However, being slightly short, the bike is perfectly fine on the road to ride but when off-road I cant flat foot comfortable. Would you reccomend having the bike lowered? or would this make the bike unusable off road?

    • @AwesomePlayers
      @AwesomePlayers  7 років тому

      I would avoid lowering it. Better to have an inch added to your boots. Or a lower seat if available.

    Any advice guys, i got the 2017 gs800 trophy addition and I've been riding for a while but I'm pretty short, what do you do when you park your bike on an un-even surface? Because i struggle to push it back up with my toes... I got a little stand extender thing but it's not enough...

    • @AwesomePlayers
      @AwesomePlayers  7 років тому

      I grab the bars and swing it hard to the other side. Of course that assumes you have good footing for your right leg. Henrik has evolved a system where he stands beside the bike and folds up the stand. The he places his left foot on the peg and starts riding away. Once the bike is moving he swings his other leg over the bike. Looks cool. It took quite a bit of practice to get it right. I also see that short guys pay more attention to where they park. Ive seen some that try to lean the bike against a tree and donèt use the stand at all.

    • @shane8694
      @shane8694 7 років тому

      Awesome Players Yea i think the best solution is to just try pay attention to where i park haha, these big bikes are amazing when you're moving but when they're standing still...they're seriously not so comfortable haha. Thanks for tne reply btw! And hello from South Africa!

    it's interesting to see how much trouble you have at places where I just ride through with my CR250 and don't even think about it. not saying I'm a good rider but a 96kg bike is so much better in no man's land - unless you want to go really fast and quiet :) still getting a 650 this year for a 2week tour through my country

    Guys...You totally failed to use the power of each bike throughout these simple obstacles. Yes they are heavy.....yes they are cumbersome....but both of you failed to commit to the line and power-through the obstacles. These are simple-rutted mud holes.....nothing extravagant. If you wish to survive on any real CC adventure...you need to sell those BMW's and buy a DR-Z or a WR250R and hone your off road skillset before you ever set out more than 500 miles on anything bigger. Go into your garages and stare at these big ass BMW's you bought...and please re-evaluate what you are doing. That is all...
