Watched Inglorious Basterds the other day. Hans Landa is a cold-hearted Nazi that loves what he does, but he's also the kind of character you can't help getting excited/nervous over when he pops up on screen because he's so sadistic and unpredictable. Tarantino got people invested in an evil and terrifying Nazi with good writing and a killer actor. A likeable superhero should be 1000x times easier to pull off than a villainous Nazi.
A good writer would use diversity to make a story a little bit more interesting or humanize settings with some different character dynamics here and there and whatever. Shit writers just focus on the minorities whatever the story is supposed to be.

Batman sucks as much as his cousin, firstly vigilantism is illegal and any criminal caught by him would be released without any evidence of a crime, secondly he's stupid enough to keep apprehending the same criminals for 80 + years in spite of being hailed as one of the smartest characters in the DC universe!
That's why I prefer The Punisher, he's not a hero by Marvel standards and he gets things handled.

This show keeps saying that outing someone is terrible, yet Kate constantly tries to out Sophie (through emotional manipulation). You can't have your cake and eat it too, writers.
I want to see Bruce's face so bad when he sees the magazine with Kate posing on the cover. In a show with some semblance of sanity, he'd be back in Gotham within the next hour asking her, "Is this goddamn joke to you?"

True. That's how Bruce kept his identity a secret. He let people think he was just a millionaire playboy that liked to party and was somewhat clumsy. That way noone would be able to reasonably deduce that he was actually Batman, since the two act worlds apart from each other.
Listen Thorias you don't need to wear those sun glasses we know you're crying behind them and that's ok anyone would shed tears of agony after watching this show.

It's basically the Exact opposite of what good representation should be.
Defined by their token group. Multiple characters around them defined by sharing or opposing it.
When the best way to write a strong ____ character is to write a strong character. Then have them also be _____.
Bruce would have regarded it with a brief grunt, maybe a quick comment about how people these days seem to care more about other people's relationships rather than death being avoided.
It's not even a hero thing... It's a normal healthy person thing...
A normal healthy person doesn't need the world to validate them... For a normal healthy person it only goes to not letting the world invalidate them.
Or in other words:
You make your public gay parade because some people hate gay people and would still want to out law it.
You don't make your public gay parade, because you need people to clap at you being gay.
And I'm glad that at least around here eg. the gay politicians in said parade acknowledge that difference.
This show feels like a parody on Batman and even for a parody it is bad.

These writers are awful. You can see they're obviously trying to mimic Batman's mysteries / crime solving, but yet can't help but create a giant plothole every time. She had a device on the train to wirelessly hack the brakes, but why would she need that if she was on the train with her phone? It wasn't like the device was wired into the train itself, it was entirely disconnected so you could just use the phone for everything if you're literally standing on the train. Then there's the "I heard a bell so it must at a school, specifically my school, because apparently it has a one-of-a-kind bell for some reason?" And of course the weird conclusion that the EMP wouldn't effect the hacker's phone. Being good at coding does not make your devices hardened against EMPs, that takes very expensive military hardware, which this student obviously couldn't afford. Hell I'm not even sure Felicity's hacking computers are shielded against EMPs. Then of course Alice manages to find the hacker no problem... somehow. She obviously didn't go to Kate's high school because she got kidnapped as a child, so she couldn't have heard the one-of-a-kind bell. Did she just throw a dart at a map and get lucky?
Then there's the part about getting someone to testify about the ass-mask disguise... well here's the thing. They live in the same world as the Flash, and after crisis, also the same reality as Supergirl. Both those shows have had face-swapping technology. Ralph Dibney on the Flash can impersonate others no problem. Martian Manhunter is a thing. And, I'm pretty sure on Supergirl one of the plot points was the president was an alien using a face swap device to look human and got exposed on national TV. Oh, and there's also the explanation of alternate universe dopplegangers. Seriously there's so many ways they could have framed Kate's father, and it shouldn't be hard to pay some expert to testify to any number of those possibilities.
It's kind of impressive because I think they managed to have literally every single part of the episode make zero sense.
When Batman does detective work, you see him put together evidence into a simple theory and deductive reasoning, as well as having help through technology that the police don't have.
When Batwoman does detective work, she stumbled upon the answers.
Who's the best detective in the world?
Kanassa Obviously the writers think Inspector Clouseau is a better detective than Sherlock Holmes.

Before the first episode of this show aired, I watched a video about it. I don't remember who the creator was, but their point seems more on the nose with each episode.
Batwoman is not written as a superhero origin story. It is more written like the rising of a new supervillain.
And I will honestly not be surprised if one of the episodes has Kate beating up dozens of cops to save a bunch of criminals because they are colored or gay.

The absolute hypocricy of this episode. Earlier in the season Batwoman tried to pressure her ex into coming out in an objectively unsafe situation for her to do so (she'd lose her career and parents and so on), and she arguably outed her in that resturant to own the homophobes, but I guess forcing people to come out (or at least attempting to do so) is just "being true to yourself" when Batwoman does it, and worse than murder when anybody else does it. Obviously outing people is bad, not worse than murder but still bad, yet we're expected to forget that Batwoman has done the whole "if you really loved me" shit to try to do just that... and been presented as the one in the right in that situation. Their consistency with this message is almost as lacking as their consistency with time travel.
Sadly, I don't think the writers even recognize the hypocrisy on display here.
@@thoriasunlimited4053 Unfortunately, you're probably right. At this point it seems like they attach a spot the difference to the job applications and only hire writers who can't find anything. Given the plot of the episode, a competent writer could've used this as an opportunity for character growth and self-reflection from her, but instead she's not even a stagnant character, she just has so little character that her personality amounts to "whatever this scene requires".
I highly doubt the writers even know the meaning of the words hypocrisy.

@@DmanDice I couldn't pass beyond the first season, to be honest. It was a good idea in advance, but I didn't like the execution. Some people told me that it got better after the first season, but I had already moved on.
I liked her in the books, liked the first season well enough, and then it went off the rails. At least the books kept being good til about the last 3; the tv series only made it thru one season.

Adam West's Batman has a better criminal conviction rate then Batwoman.
The opening second is good enough reaction for the whole show. This disaster just doesn't stop.
The most obvious "plot twist" here would be: Parker becomes the new Luke because... men suck and being black and gay is simply not enough woke points anymore ^_^
Luke is the only person with common sense in this show. So, I can definitely see that happening
I wonder if Kate realises that announcing that Batwoman is a lesbian would but a red mark on ALL lesbians in Gotham city, since every criminal is going to go after a lesbian if there's a possibility that woman is Batwoman after all.
Okay, I right away have an idea for a better twist ending to this episode:
Later on, Batwoman sees Lesbian Hacker Girl's parents and angrily walks up to them.
Batwoman: "(Indignantly) Hey, you shouldn't be so bigoted against your daughter because she's gay! Love her for who she is!"
Girl's Father: " (Slightly confused) Um, we do! We always have!"
Girl's Mother: "We've supported her lifestyle choice from the moment we learned about it!"
Batwoman: "Uh, what are you talking about? I heard that you hated her because she was gay?"
Girl's Father: "Whoever told you that lied."
Batwoman then approaches Lesbian Hacker Girl, who is quickly typing away something on her phone.
Batwoman: "You lied to me! Your parents aren't homophobes!"
Lesbian Hacker Girl: "Yeah, I did. See, when I learned that you were on to me, I had to quick think up a way to keep you from turning me over to the police. Of course, everyone these days feels bad for someone who's been the victim of discrimination. So, I spun a tale for you about how I did it all just because my mean old parents hated me for being gay, and you actually fell for it! Meanwhile, the city has sent me the ransom money, and my lie distracted you just long enough for me to have enough time to launder the money through some fake bank accounts and digitally scrub any evidence that may have proven I was the Terrier! You helped me get away with extorting a fortune from this city! Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm about to go on a $5 million shopping spree! Thanks, sucker! You're my hero!"
Lesbian Hacker Girl then walks away laughing, leaving Batwoman standing there with her mouth hanging open, realizing she has once again been played for the gullible fool that she is.

I just think they're fanatics. The sad little ideas are the only thing rattling around their brains. Forget talent, writing ability, meaningful themes, deep metaphors, character development or dialog. All you need to write a TV show is a collection of imbecilic political agendas that you repeat over and over again. To me this is precisely why you're not supposed to hire political fanatics to write things. They're all idiots, and what they write will therefore probably be idiotic.

It seems they see the whole superhero stuff as a backdrop and write the show like it is some sort of highschool drama and they are too stupid to realize that the scenario conflicts with that.
Makes it easier to find out who Batwoman is now cause she just easily made the list of possible suspects pretty small

To be fair that's sort of accurate, the guy who played superman in the last movie walked around in glasses and nobody recognized him.

Yesterday I saw an article about this episode titled "Batwoman just came out as a lesbian to Gotham" or something similar. At first I thought "But wait, everyone knows Kate is..." and then it hit me that it meant the alter ego Batwoman came out to Gotham and I kid you not, my knees halfway gave out and I almost fell over from the stupididy before smiling to myself thinking of all the wonderful things Thorias was going have to say about it in this review. How much more stupid can this show get?? Oh wait, weve seen this pattern, hitting new lows every week without fail. Cant wait to see what happens next week to make Kate an EVEN WORSE character and "hero" (gag).
I remember when someone asked Avery Brooks how he approached
playing a star trek captain as a black man an his answer was that it was stupid to
try and play his role as a black captain and you lose any merit with that
approach. He instead played the role as a captain who happened to be black and
although his experiences might given him a different perspective in some
instances or mean he has to approach situations differently in some instances
it should never be an overriding or defining part of the character. Barwomen could
learn from that statement.

It makes perfect sense that a woman does more damage than a man. Two X chromosomes, X2, two times damage. Alice has an additional chance to crit due to being quirky.
So, Sophie is threatening and torturing a tied-up suspect for something he didn't do. Because she's upset her husband left her. Hilariously, this show seems to now have a message that women shouldn't be in law enforcement.

A simple truth the writers of this show don't understand

Proceeds to steal a man's identity, work, tools, weapons and devices and takes all the credit. Imagine that.
Personally, I had to check out the first episode when it premiered to just see if Batwoman was as bad as I thought it was going to be. Well, it didn't disappoint; I turned the channel on that Batshit at around the 30 minute mark. What's amazing, well....not really that amazing is the fact this woman playing as Batwoman was offered an extension. I can't see this show getting a second season. Then again....this is CW.
Batwoman makes Paul W.S Anderson's Resident Evil movies look like the Godfather and Goodfellas.

If this show is smart enough, Luke could realize that Kate is a Horrible person and is terrible at her job so in secret, he starts training then finds a secret area in His old home where there's a recording from Lucius where he's made a Bat suit for Luke and he's starts fighting crime, and obviously Kate would find him fighting crime and try tos stop him and give some excuse saying 'She's stopping him to protect him' so they duke it out

Shot dead as well as the other cast as it cuts off to a man in a brown leather jacket and red helmet walking away as he jumps off a building then boom! The Batwoman logo get's shot up then falls down as the 'Batwoman' is replaced with 'Red Hood' because Honestly, That would be a dream come true
