The writing for these episodes are 30% political and 70% stupid.
I checked you math, and somehow you got it wrong. It is actually 100% political, 100% stupid and 100% insulting to fans of Batman, DC Comics and superheroes in general. I know that adds up to 300%, but that just shows how bad the show is. It breaks mathamatics.

Not really. Because these are CW writers, and they'll probably find a legitimate explanation like, oh, God hates gays, and so Kate's soul was thrown back into her body after she "died" and she was "undied" and will never die.

I could see why that would be. For one, it shows the writers don't have a spine. They're unwilling to take a chance. For the other, it shows they're not willing to treat a gay person the same as any other character.

When Kate finds out about their plan, instead of informing Arkham she takes out their guards to try to handle Alice herself which led to the Arkham inmates--along with her--breaking out.

She literally walked in and said "I did the crime" and now she's walking around saying "No i didn't do the crime, i both LIED in court and made the dumbest possible decision thinking it would improve my situation"

The writig of this show is inconsistant. The Crows are written as a security firm, then an arm of the GCPD, the only police force, a vigilanty group, and a paramilitary group. Sometimes all in span of 15 minutes.
Do they have a full name or is that it? Like, are they really "CROW PRIVATE MILITARY AND LAW ENFORCEMENT CONTRACTORS LLC" or the "C.R.O.W.S" or is that just it?
@@andrewdiaz3529 Crows Security is the full name of them as at the start of the series they were just protecting the upper-class. By the end of season 1, they were the only law enforcement agencey as the GCPD seemed to disapear as the Crows started to be put in places the GCPD should be.
Well, by the end of this season, they will be known as a white supremacist group & a sub-sect of the Proud Boys, all in one.

Truly the story for the crows replacing the GCPD would’ve been a better sub plot than the main story itself. At least the theory plot twist of why the crows took over the job of the GCPD is because the crow top members excluding Jacob have conspired to replace the local GCPD and using their dark history of corruption and abuse of power, they slowly savage the image of the GCPD further down negative instead of 20% approval. Using the media to portray the local police as shitty individuals. Portraying the Crows as more effective law enforcement department. Acting like a people approved police force. 👮♀️ Even the recruits would look like trainees for white supremacy groups. Their inability to uphold the law. Make them protect the 1% while the crows end up protect the citizens of all classes: poor, middle and upper. Also acting like a pro equal rights organization while portraying the GCPD as racial profilers. Maybe the high investment involves some special spy ops team committing espionage towards corporations, local and international. Using some blackmail on the top executives to invest in protection from the crows. As well as advocating class and worker protection. To the point that it has the mayor, the governor, and senator of Gotham city state in their pockets to slowly disband the GCPD. With one false flag attack involving a raid that causes major collateral damage towards its citizens to the point of media and citizen outrage. The citizens of Gotham push their ACAB shout out towards the GCPD. And the crows would protect the citizens and feed the homeless and shelter them. Doing the actions that the local GCPD lack the budget to do. Having the citizens to shout out disband the GCPD and the crows would agree to advocate the GCPD disbandment. The Crows would recruit volunteers with “permission” from the local citizens. Truly earning the citizens trust. Also some redistribution of wealth and welfare to the poorest of citizens. Thus the crows would finally replace the GCPD as their end goal reach its conclusion despite obstacles that could’ve turn against their interests to replace the local police.

Thorias' reviews are SO good... but they're not worth going on a media suicide mission. Trust me. There will be other crappy shows. Shockingly, knowing how to beat people up is a *small* portion of the job of security guard. Things like understanding and following policy as well as attention to detail are way more important.
From what I've seen most Security Guards just watch cameras and call the police if something goes wrong.
And logistics is about 60% of security. Paperwork! It makes the world go round. Ryan would easily have gotten a job as a security guard. They would’ve just stuck her at some oil rig doing nothing but logistics, no security whatsoever. I know because security is my profession.

Where they actually have to walk through where the security cameras are so that they can secure the parts the security cameras don’t show. TV and movies do not do security justice. It's even funnier when you realize that the CW were trying really hard to recreate the relationship between Oliver and Barry with Kara and Kate. They set up multiple scenes in crisis to make people think they are friends, and Ruby left the show only to replace by a different character entirely.

The fast acting poison not being a fast acting poison is exactly what the writers did on the Flash in regards to time: Reverse Flash’s ancestor dies so he instantly starts being erased from existence, a guy named Savitar unintentionally undoes his own creation but he doesn’t instantly disappear he sticks around for the remainder of the episode because the plot says he can.

Actually that is one of the things the writers of Flash have gotten right with a character from the comics, Reverse Flash is a paradox and no matter how many times he gets erased from existence. The Reverse Flash always eventually returns to make Barry's life a living hell.
@@zerofudou5689 Thawne returning eventually isn’t the problem, the problem is that he has been in EVERY season regardless of if he has a reason to be there. Imagine if every single thing related to Batman featured the Joker, in some cases he’s a major antagonist in others he’s literally just there to be there, that’s what the writers have done with Thawne, they know he’s a fan favorite so they keep showing him because they know fans of the schlock will watch if he’s in it.
@@thomasraines1396 And they've never explained how the original Reverse Flash from Season 1 came back in Crisis on Earth X despite Eddie committing suicide to erase Eobard from existence. Just waved it off with "Time travel's complicated." At least the version from Flash Season 3's first episode and Legends Season 2 was a time remnant Barry stopped from killing his mother Nora until he was forced to let him go and kill Nora again to fix time. So at least that version's existence was explained.
You need to add those thugs from the beginning of your review to the "Kate Kane Endangers The World" chart filled with the people she just couldn't be bothered to apprehend.

These people think that literally everyone who is poor is a criminal. Since she’s homeless she spends all of her time with poor people therefore she spends all of her time with criminals. You have to keep in mind these are the elite of the elite‘s. They’ve never actually experienced suburban life let alone actual city life.
I love how Alice can magically appear at any place whenever she is not needed! The woman must have made her Uber driver a rich person this episode.

Here’s the problem: Replacing an actor or actress will change nothing if the writing is still horrible. The only way terrible writing can get better is if you fire the bad writers and replace them with better writers. It doesn’t matter how good the show’s actors and actresses are. There is only so much actors/actresses can do if the writing is crap.
They spent the last third of episode 17 to justifying Kate killing a guy by throwing Batman under the bus, just to have the same guy who threw Batman under the bus say that Batwoman doesn’t kill. Batman killed, but Batwoman? Never!
I couldn’t stop laughing every time they tried to remind us that bat woman doesn’t kill.
So to sum it up for the rest of the season:
1. Javicia Leslie is an improvement over Ruby Rose in the acting department
2. The rest of the show is either the same or worse
Also since all the major players are women, and this is a feminist/ABC piece, nothing of importance can happen to them because of that. So you'll have to watch a stalemate till the end with only the occasional male villain of the week being brought down (Maus, Hush).

The funniest part is that the "protected" groups under communism used to have strong parts, even in SJW writing. Back in the 90s and 00s the entire point of having gay people etc in TV shows was so that evil hillbillies could randomly appear in downtown LA to kill them. But nonsensical as that was, at least you could sympathize with the victims of this almost entirely fictional violence. Now that they are obviously untouchable super humans the audience just changes the channel.

Thank you for all she knew, Jacob could have saved Alice as a child and felt sympathy for her, or they could have been former lovers,etc. I hate when writers do this, give characters information they shouldn’t have.

Security guards are licensed through the state, which involves background checks and fingerprints and everything. Running unlicensed guards is a great way to have the state shut down your company. Felony convictions generally red flag the process.
Because DIVERSITY FORCES the audience to have to watch this show..even when this show ends it will be a "win" to the world
What “legacy” does Kate have? How long was she active in universe? A few weeks? A month or two? Also what did she do that would actually stand the test of time? She didn’t stop anything major, the most impressive thing she did was stop a train from crashing, there is no “legacy”.
I mean i'd consider completely shattering all laws of physics with a bike and a rope counts as pretty fucking major, but.... but not in the way they want.

The sad part is: It's actually dumber than you make it sound. A couple points:
1. The venom from the bats was actually obtained by them biting Mouse's corpse (who was killed by poison). Somehow the poison was concentrated enough to be able to be put in hundreds of bats who could then somehow also spread that diluted poison via bite. Of course, if they're supposed to be vampire bats, they'd be sucking blood, not injecting venom like a snake. So the whole poison thing makes even less sense, because the amount of toxin that could get delivered via a bite that tiny wouldn't be significant. Also, the writers seem to think that a poison antidote lingers in the blood forever and grants some kind of permanent immunity in the way a vaccine does, which is why Mary's blood is supposed to be important. The writers are so incompetent they don't understand the difference between a poison and a disease.
2. There's no reason for them to deliver Mouse's body to Mary's clinic. It's an underground clinic run by a non-doctor. Why would anyone deliver corpses there? If someone found a dead body, they'd be calling the police, not delivering the corpse to the clinic. And there's no chance they mistook Mouse for alive because he died last season and has been left unrefrigerated in a subway tunnel so his body is probably in all kinds of stages of decomposition by now.
Also bats in general eat insects not rats.... About 1% eat mice but even then they only go by sound not just blood sucking anything in sight.

Thorias, that's IT, you've hit on the explanation! The writers are trying to see how much BS they can get away with. THAT'S why every episode is WORSE than the PREVIOUS episode. The writers DO learn...and what they learn is what is AWFUL, so that they can make it even MORE awful in the NEXT episode. It's the only explanation that fits all the facts. The only remaining mystery is: the motive for making it intentionally awful.
I don't watch batwoman each week. But I do watch your reviews (which is actually enjoyable and entertaining) each week. Suffering so I don't have to. This mans a saint.
To be very, very generous, a homeless person usually lacks the funds to start a small business like a martial arts studio, and her record could keep her from being hired by existing ones. She could try offering private lessons, but again, her record makes it unlikely that people would just let her into their homes or go to isolated non-public areas with her alone.
Nope, many places hire former convicts. Her skill sets would actually make her a good body guard or security officer.

There's absolute no reason why most of the characters, save for Luke, still remain in the series. Everyone else had a direct or indirect connection to Kate Kane. With her "gone", Alice has no real adversary, Jacob can still go after the new Batwoman, but the motivation/plot twist isn't there, and Mary, other than being Luke's bedroom buddy, is just chewing scenery. Just more than Ruby Rose should have been replaced.
Did they seriously drop the kryptonite poisoning from the first episode? They made such a big deal out of it.
It's Batwoman. Setting up potential plots and then failing or DUMPING them an episode later is the only consistent element in this show, next to the obnoxious writing.
It will most likely come up sporadically, then either end in her “almost dying” or getting superpowers, because the writers watched an episode of Smallville.

Just a thought: the people at the top of CW are supposedly hard-headed business men and must always have an eye on the bottom line of the accounts sheet. Batwahman is a crock of >>>>. So why is it still in production? Dries and Berlanti must have something on them; something they can blackmail them with: "give us a second series or we destroy you". I honestly cannot think of a better reason why CW is still commissioning this show and still employing Dries and Berlanti.

This show just refuses to give their main characters actual agency or responsibility in their actions. They have no influence over how their lives turned out, it always a string of bad luck, tragedies, and third parties fucking them over. Ryan's criminal past is solely her just being in the wrong place at the wrong time enough times to rape the law of averages.
