LORE - Warcraft Lore in a Minute!
Sargeras, a Titan entrusted with protecting the universe, spent countless millennia battling demons from the Twisting Nether. As eons passed, Sargeras became corrupted by the very demons he destroyed. Having refused the Titans' vision of an ordered universe, Sargeras left their ranks and resolved to undo all their work. He released the demons he imprisoned and recruited Kil'Jaeden the Deceiver to raise an army, and Archimonde the Defiler to lead his invasion. And with that, he set upon a Burning Crusade throughout the universe.
Sargeras grew attracted to the Well of Eternity, the heart of Azeroth's magical and natural power, thus setting in motion the plans for his next invasion. Queen Azshara of the elven people fell victim to Sargeras' undeniable power and agreed to summon him and his army into the world through the Well of Eternity. Malfurion Stormrage and his allies, with no other choice, destroyed the Well of Eternity, causing the Great Sundering that split Kalimdor into 4. Still, Sargeras would not be denied.
Aegwynn, a Guardian appointed to combat the Burning Legion, is drawn to a demonic presence in Northrend. There she encounters and defeats the avatar of Sargeras and casts his body to the depths of the ocean. Unbeknownst to her, Sargeras transferred his spirit into her body where he would lie dormant for many years.
Aegwynn later gave birth to a son who she would name Medivh. Both her power and the sinister spirit of Sargeras were passed down, during which Sargeras made his final plans for his second invasion. Medivh's terrible powers begin take hold of his body and mind, and he would begin constructing the Dark Portal. Meanwhile, Kil'Jaeden had successfully enslaved and empowered the Orcish clans of Draenor, setting the stage for a war that would change Azeroth forever.
Have fun!

0:50 i love how you made pandaria panda shaped.
just like the WWF
CITIZENS OF DALARAN, WHERES THE PART WHERE I GET TO SAY CITIZENS OF DALARAN?
+Rhonin, Leader of the Kirin Tor Give it time Rhonin.., Give it time
Go home, Rhonin, you are dead.
+Yecowa Shut up, that moment was sad for me... D;
***** you know what Rhonin and Krasus have in common now? >:D
*****
No...
how dare they not mention JARAXXAS, EREDAR LORD OF THE BURNING LEGION!?
***** who?? XD?? jk
+d123s404 Jaraxxus you mean ..?
+d123s404 Aint nobody got time for that!
Simon Huus Kristensen Yeah, now that's more like it.
INFERNO!
Like if you want blizzard to re-release Warcraft 1-3 in remastered HD for XBOX ONE, PS4 and Other Consoles including PC and Mac. Or is it just me.
They will at some point.
There is a reason why there aren't almost any RTS' on consoles, how do you think you would controll your army? By pressing X? ...
HALO20601 The Warcraft franchise would never work on consoles, ever.
TheSanityX
well even if it doesn't get put on consoles, they should still remake it for PC and Mac.
HALO20601 I totally agree.
LOL, Pandaria is shaped like a panda, I'm done! XD
this realy isn't the lore, it's just the story of how the burning legion started
True!
It's the lore that leads into the first Warcraft, which is good enough.
SlyBiffrons Why is it good enough? Nowhere in description or title is that made clear. This way one can simply flag this video for Misleading title.
MarkaNLNL It's good enough because it lays the background info of the first game in the Warcraft series. That's what lore is. And the title quite literally says "Warcraft".
If this were "WoW lore in a minute" then it would detail the events leading up to WoW. See?
SlyBiffrons the elder scrolls and hitman lores told the story of what happened in every game until the last one.
i don't give a fuck about WoW , i want Warcraft 4!!!
This is warcraft 1 lore *facedesk*
I swear to god you never played any warcraft game, so why want a 4th one?
i played warcraft 2 and warcraft 3 and i love them more than any Wow games because Wow reminds me on LoL and DoTA 2 games that i hate the most.
Dusan Bibin dafuq u talkin about dota was created using WC3, WoW is not comparable to LoL or DotA
i hate it because u control only 1 player in third person and bird mode
Dusan Bibin lol warcraft 4 is world of warcraft
The panda-Head shaped Pandaria is so Awesome xD
this lore could last an hour....
you sure? the defias ( bunch of human rebels you fight till you get to lvl 19 ) lore takes up 24 mins
naglis autukas
We're not talking about that one.
Only one hour?
pfff noob
whole WarCraft lore can last weeks (and not taking shitty MMO lore)
Feels so good to hear Warcraft 2 music as opening!!!!!
It was my very first PC game. I was in love with WarCraft lore, until the WoW expansions after Cataclysm came along and ruined my entire childhood.
I'd rather have this in 3 minutes but fucking UNDERSTANDABLE.
Set speed to 0.5 to match your BRAIN POWER
this is a pretty good response
0:53 Look at the bottom colony o3o.
A minor correction cause I'm a lifeless nerd who has nothing better to do:
Azeroth's continents never moved away from each other when the Sundering occurred. The explosion simply destroyed the land and the oceans filled it in. Kalimdor (the super continent) lost 80% of its land.
No you're not right. The continents really do moved away.
KoraxProductions Nope. Page 12 on the Ultimate Visual Guide of WoW, a canon resource directly from Blizzard, states that Kalimdor lost 80% of its land. The original landmass, dubbed Kalimdor by the Titans, consisted of the existing continents and all the land in between.
***** I just gave you the source, buddy. Check for yourself.
Loosing 80% of landmass doesn't imply that the remaining rest didn't moved away,
+KoraxProductions that literally makes no sense, if they were moving away after losing that much landmass they would be much MUCH farther away. also in order for them to move it would require there be a fault line in the center pushing them all away (which would have destroyed the continent long before the explosion did) and judging by the fact that the central rock formations around the vortex are still intact that would mean no such fault exists. never argue with a man who is able to state an official scource, 9 time out of 10 he knows what he's talking about.
These lores are the background lores before the first game in the series, that holds true for most of these videos
And then Pandas.
***** From Warcraft III but yeah
***** They were a joke that turned into an expansion!
Oliver Anderson
Why do people keep saying they are a joke? Chen was a major hero character of the orc campaign, and while they had lesser roles in the other campaigns, the only non-canon pandaren appearence is the one that joins in the rescue Illidan mission if you did well enough during the tower-defense mini-game.
The Hydralisk was a joke...it was hidden and hard to find, did not carry over after that mission, and is never brought up at any time during the mission or after.
ZanathKariashi Because pandas were jokes. In w3 you can find couple random/hostile pandas, which gave like "wut reaction". And at the end of the game, you can find that "The largest panda ever". It gave me good lol.
Yeah, in frozen throne you can get Chen, but seriously, he is just joke & comic relief. Just about everything in his... hilarious. After you do his quest, he doesen't say anything, just follows you around.
They were jokes in warcraft, until Blizzard run out of ideas.
I didnt saw any pandas in Warcraft 3 reign of chaos and frozen throne..
this is not all the lore...
its Warcraft lore, the first game.
'this is not all the lore' WELL NO SHIT, you wanna condense nearly five days worth of non-stop story time into a 2 minute video? Go ahead.
The ABSOLUTE FUCK TON of lore in the Warcraft games/series/whatever couldn't be condensed into a 2 minute video. Sorry. lol You'd need a few hours at least. If not a few days to explain it ALL and all the connections, and why this bit over here is important and... yeah.
As these people allready have said, in order to get ALL of the Warcraft lore in one video, the video would have had to been like 20+ hours of constant reading. This is an EXTREMELY EXTREMELY EXTREEEEEEMELY condensed version of the lore behind warcraft 1.
It's the core,to tell all the lore you will need few weeks if not more of non-stop story time about that lore, its an epic lore but its really big, even if you will finish with the legion, eredar, dreanor, orcs, azroth and all the other bullshit you will still wont even get to half of that.
and then the whole shit got retconned
0:50 Anybody else noticed Pandaria looks like a panda?
Happy 50th Episode, lore!
Music at the beginning is from Warcraft 2 when you're defeated while playing as Orc, Music at the end is one of the tracks from Warcraft 1.
This game has a really good lore, especially reign of chaos which is my most favorite in the warcraft series, but people only seem to notice this game for the custom map dota, and im sad when people watch me playing the campaign and people come in like, oh look its Axe, oh look Mirana, oh look Magina its like people only play warcraft not for the campaign but for dota, im not a hater of dota, I play it, but the amount of times I played campaign and hours I spent playing it is alot more than I have played dota
Also I hate frozen throne because of the last final fight for the throne. Arthas vs Illidan its a fight for the frozen throne, on previous warcraft they made a wonderful job on cinematics, but they couldnt do that cinematic on that last scene, it just made me weep a tear when I saw that.
+Darwin Mendoza The lore still good though. The reason why the cinematic was bad is because this is Blizzard first time creating a cinematic using in game graphic but they have to rush the project since it was almost on the release day.
This was excellent. Well done on the shape of the southern continent:)
Wait, Medivh "is" Sargeras... WHAAAAT!?
sargeras spirit was in medivhs body but after medivh got killed sargeras was sent into twisting nether
+MrGlies It's clearly meant to be a take on the "Jesus as son of god" idea (except with evil beings instead of holy ones)... so think of it like that...
Someone in Blizzard already said that WoW is treated more like a 'possible parallel universe', and that none of the story in it is really set in stone for any possible sequel to the series.
I forgot to tell you that if you are interested in the lore you could play the strategy games or even read the books, which are not alll of them tied together.
0:52 lol, panda
Who else noticed that Pandaria in this video was shaped like a panda ?
literal Pandaland
who else is watching this so that they will understand what is happening in the movie? ;)
If you really want to understand, look longer videos with more precisions
The movie's lore is much different than the game's, so maybe this is not the best video to watch
If you want to understand the lore of the movie.. Get the first Warcraft and play it.
You know what hit me? These are the very basics of Warcraft lore. WoW has so much lore that you couldn't fit it all into 100 volumes! I think a really important part if the lore was missed out when you forgot to mention the war between the titans and old gods and the creation of Azeroth :(
OMG Warcraft 2 music, some of the best music just ever.
Note on the Lore, I had no idea it was that rich, or should I say 'messed up' :-)
Great Lore, Blizzard actually should put it in first scene of the movie.
Actually this lore is a little inaccurate...
+Gildo Cravo That actually was the warcraft movie.
you guys are really good, you should really start to summarize history books and sell the summeriest to students, ull make millions.
good start only 200 episodes more left :) and then we can move on season 2 :D :D
In that case, use this sentence:
Will there also be lores for the expansions?*** Shorter, and makes more sense.
People are saying this one missed a lot, but I disagree. He summed up all the events that happened before Warcraft 1. And that was the point.
Before the Sundering, it was Kalimdor cause of elves. Then when they split, the collective continents became known as Azeroth.
Oh trust me on this. The Warcraft lore is deep and complex, and still being expanded upon with World of Warcraft's exapnsions. For a video game, the world and lore is on par to the likes of Lord of the Rings/Middle-earth and A Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones.
Well, I guess you are right, but it would be like to see like an avatar of him somewhere. Kinda like in frozen throne, but with a bit longer scene. It could be like an quest series for wow involving the legion, and he would be like barely seen somewhere in somekind of form, but not really as an boss or anything like that.
Lol, if you look closely at 0:50, you'll notice that Pandaria is in the shape of a panda.
I like what ya did with Pandaria at 0:50
They're the same lore..... Everything in this video is completely relevant to the entire warcraft universe. You witness the sundering of the world in a cata dungeon, fight kil jaeden in the sunwell, archimonde in the caverns of time, see medivh in karazhan and caverns of time, go to draenor where the orcs were first corrupted, kill the demon that corrupted them (Magtheridon), etc.
And that's the prologue before the actual warcraft lore.
And yet, it was still more lore than there was in the first game (which this leads up to).
I played wow for years and this is the first i've ever heard of any of this - did they change the lore?
Blizzard have said repeatedly that the Lore exists to serve the gameplay, not the other way round, and they frequently twist and retcon it.
Oh also even Metzen can't remember it all now, so yeah it's got pretty messy after 3 RTSes, and 8 years of WoW and expansions.
i was saing that 2, but when i looked into the lore of wow i was Obsessed with it and now i am a 85 lvl rogue!
0:58: i couldn't stop laughing at the mii!
1 minute to put me to sleep was successful.
Lore is the whole story.
If you wanted to tell the full lore of warcraft the title would be:"Lore in (Almost) an Hour.
Because reasons.
I can only summarize it as follows: The horde, only having had little to no contact with the undead lest for the Battle on Hyjal, were probably contacted by Forsaken ambassadors and accepted to a political coallition because there was less prejudice against them, it would grant them a foothold in Lordaeron and access to its resources there.
However since WoW doesn't portray any of these details properly, it's no wonder nobody has a clue what's going on -.-
"The Avatar of Sargeras" is a mii, LOL.
The moment I saw "Warcraft Lore" I knew it was going to be voiced by Jesse Cox!
0:51 I love how Pandaria looks like a panda
well he isn't dead, his avatar was defeated; he is still alive in the twisted neither
Blizz should make a game based on Aegwyn's adventures.
Good, because I never read the quest dialogs...Ever....
-Flips table- FOR THE HORDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For the record, I've been playing since Vanilla. I didn't raid Hyjal when it was relevant, but I am aware we didn't "truly" save the Well.
Yes, this is all shit I know of, as I've done it all. Again, been playing since Vanilla.
I'm aware MoP is crap, but the raiding content is quite good.
Just to make sure you're aware btw, I'm not a "newfag", nor a Wrath/cata baby. Been here since launch, kthx, but I've never really been too big on lore.
0:53
It's pronounced like this: Ah guh win
It's NOT pronounced: Eggwin
Actually in warcraft 3, it looks nothing like the map they show in this video. Pandaria never existed some of the islands never existed, northrend was longer and thinner and Kalimdor was more of an crescent.
That was only the first war. The 2nd and 3rd are still missing. Please do those too.
That didnt age well xD
UH OH, Your mommy might tell you off for using naughty words, it's time out for you mister.
BONE TOWN Lore in a Minute.
yeah... sargeras transferred a "spirit" into her body... and she had a baby
i just read the book about medivh and his apprentice khadgar... really REALLY good book if u ask me
It's kind of SUPPOSED to. It was a plan on words because of the title "avatar".
Was that... just.... Warcraft 1 lore???? LoL x_x
Nah, not even that, this is a bit of every game
Sargeras opens the Dark Portal. Kil'Jaden takes the orcs. They converge upon Azeroth as the credits music plays. Epic.
Lol @ 0:50. Bottom is Pandaria, shaped like a panda.
But if the continent was called Kalimdor, why name one of the new islands to Kalimdor? Or why not call all of the islands, Kalimdor 1, 2, 3? (ofc the pandarian island can't be renamed, because it already has a name. If you know what the island really is)
Sir I insist you put that table down
welp, that was about 1% of Warcraft Lore XD
Jesse Cox
I consider almost all lore written in the books to be canon. If it's in the game and documented in the books it's canon. Up through WotLK it was canon because it was following the RTS games' storylines. After WotLK, so patch 3.3.5, Cata, MoP, I consider that to not be as canon. At least not until they continue the story line through the novels.
why it sucks? it didn´t direcly modified the game, and if you don´t like the pandas, all you have to do is not go to pandaria, the rest of the game, still wonderful! the levelling content is better than ever!
I like how now this basically sums up the build up and the events of a certain movie
Well...1/3 of Warcraft lore anyway...this gets you to like, Warcraft 1.5, doesn't even get into Warcraft 2, 3, or WoW at all.
I didn't think it would managed to be squeezed into a minute anyway, but I was curious. Should be "Warcraft: Orcs and Humans Lore in a Minute"
All the lor videos always go up to right before the games start. So in this case warcraft 1.
This went past the start of Orcs and Humans though.
Raven1024 barely : /
Kalimdor is the big continent before it split, but also the western continent afterwards. Azeroth is the name of the world, the name of the south-eastern continent, AND of a human kingdom. The parts above continent-Azeroth are made up of lordaeron and Kaz modan.
Still half of this was because of WoW-era retcons and additions, and should be disregarded anyway since WoW has trouble of keeping a consistent lore, having already retconned half of the previous games away...
you are talking bull shit dude, wow is like a warcraft online, the lore is all there, and as you level up, you get to know it, try to play it at least before you hate it.
Indeed, but one DOES simply tell Warcraft lore in a minute and 17 seconds.
You went 40 seconds over. Dislike.
Also back in WoTLK and Catacylsm, you could raid the Eye of Eternity.
it's not even warcraft 1, the vid ends where wc1 starts
But the world of Tolkien is far more complex it's what make it great, you can't deny it.
Need to do a follow up lore in a miniute for the rest leading through warcraft warcraft 2 and warcraft 3 then I think everyonese else who has played wow can figure out the rest
YES YES AND YES AGAIN. VOL'JIN FOR HORDE LEADER.
..................... You serious?
WoW's lore IS Warcraft lore! The Burning Crusade was years ago and we already saved the Well of Eternity, defeating both Archimonde and Kil'jaeden.
this was terrible
Anyone notice Pandaria is shaped like a panda- Holy shit.
0:52 Pandaria is shaped like a panda lol
warcraft lore in a minute part 2?
hmmm so why Titans favorite place was kalimnor, and Titans come before Legion and befero Hight Elfves.
Its lore in a minuite, they cn't fit the entire stiry of warcraft in a minuite XD
that isn't 100% true, there are many things in wow that are not true to the original Warcraft lore. Also, since wrath, wow lore takes place afterwards the things that happened during Warcraft and are therefore not mentioned in the original Warcraft stories. (Most of it)
Actually no you are wrong, it is complex and it is deep, but it isn’t close to A Song Of Ice and Fire and nowhere near Tolkien’s work, he single handedly developed what is probably the most in depth and unique lore outside of the Warhammer 40k universe. What you have to take into account here is that wow lore is essentially a rip off of Tolkien’s and various others, very little of it can actually be called unique, even if it has reams of paper written about it.
LOL baby Medivh with beard LMAO!
Anyone else think the avatar of Sargeras looks like a mii?
have....have you ever played the campaign?!
