i lost my grandma to cancer in 2023, i was closer to her than anyone else in the world since i was a wee little baby. she was so kind and gentle, she felt very buddha even tho she was a catholic. i miss her and i know wherever she is shes doing just fine. if you cant find ways to attend the funeral dont beat yourself up. find a way to celebrate his spirit, he'll know. i couldnt attend my grandmas memorial so i took some of her ashes and let it go in a river she always wanted her ashes in and i felt closer with her just from that experience and i know she wouldve understand why i couldnt make it. maybe your dad liked a certain beer or cigar or liked a sports team, celebrate with that for him, its not about making it to that event, its about you grieving and saying goodbye for your own psyche because their spirit is still alive and know how you really feel deep inside.

Try not to overthink too much, you can't change the past. As the saying goes, life doesn't come with a manual. It seems that you are very logical about things even when speaking on your mood/ situations, and that is a strength. Things we go through as young children/adults can certainly affect how we handle things as grown adults, and that's ok (as long as you are aware of why you do things and your behavior isn't toxic). Keep a clear head and stay your course (even if you aren't sure what that course is, take it day by day). Gratitude and joy in simple things help. Enjoy all the hobbies you can. Forgive yourself and others, BUT of course, never accept any BS 😂! I will say this, and some may not agree, but IF you didn't have a close relationship in life, putting your job or finances in jeopardy to attend funeral services is wild. Your father would not want you to be in that kind of situation, nor is it logical. Lastly...never let your past ruin your present or your future (just a good reminder to everyone ❤). I hope you communicate with your children 🙂 they need you, and you need them (connection is what's missing in life sometimes). We often pull away from people when things aren't going fantastic. And really....times are pretty darn hard currently for many. Take it easy. You will be ok 😊. Rooting for you! 🤗

It's not weird bro I went through the same thing, last time I saw my biological father was when I was like 6 or 7 and I just turned 30 a few weeks ago. He got in contact with me around 5 years ago and we talked on the phone for hours and it was great but I'm like you and I got too scared to actually pursue the relationship so I didn't talk to him again and I do feel guilty. But I've also replayed the demise of alot of the closest people to me, it does sound grim af but I'm just glad I'm not alone in feeling like this

This type of news, whether we're aware that it's coming or not is a shock to our system. In times like these you're dealing with way to many overwhelming emotions all at once. In time, you will sincerely deal with your feelings. Give yourself some time. Just allow yourself to feel what you feel when you feel it. Life lesson ~ You will have good and bad moments! Not days, not even hours, but literally MOMENTS! It's all a part of the grieving process.
You don't have to go to the funeral Jeremy. You have to look out for your own survival and stability. I've always been treated like shit at funerals, people are judgemental and they won't have mercy on you just because you showed up. They'll still do what they've always done. Stay in your lane and don't let anything shake you from your security. That's just my opinion.
