Please be aware this video was posted two years ago and the cost of living and tourist traffic has really increased in that time period to where the prices in Todos are now comparable or higher than Cabo.
Not needing a car is high on my list of attractive qualities for a place. I rarely hear anyone agree with me on that. Appreciate your perspective on various places.
I was just there and I certainly don't believe you need a car to live there. A mountain bike with a rack and panniers works great if you're used to riding bikes and investing in decent bikes. You could get an e bike if you really think the hills are too much. Some people rode ATVS or motorcycles around. The one thing is that it can be a very dusty experience because not much is paved in TS....although at the rate it's growing that may be changing.
I can’t thank you enough for the work you have put into your videos. I am exploring Mexico without any Spanish skills (yet) and you have inspired and helped me in overcoming the intimidation and obstacles. I am in Todos Santos at the moment and this is just the info I was looking for! Keep recording and posting! Por favor!
I have so enjoyed "visiting" Todos Santos with you. Thank you for bringing the beauty of Mexico and her people to us. I look forward to your next adventure!
Im mexican, from Chihuahua. I saw your videos and im glad that you enjoy my country, enjoy the beautiful península. Sorry for my english i don’t speak english. Saludos ✋🏻
Well you write it perfectly, so don't apologize! You are doing great and you speak two languages vs one which most americans only speak one although many do speak multiple languages if they live in large cities like LA, NYC, MIAMI etc. Anyhow don't apologize for your english. Bravo to you that you adventure out and seek life and play it large rather than small and safe.
I'm enjoying your videos. Love your energy, thanks. I visited Todos Santos for an afternoon several years ago and I'm considering going back for an extended stay - a month or so like you, perhaps next Winter. I'm looking forward to where you're off to next. Cheers, from Alta California del Norte.
I have enjoyed watching your videos. Last time I was in Todos Santos was in 2018 and it is a beautiful town. The beaches are spectacular. When I retire I plan to move to Mexico and Todos Santos is at the top of the list with La Paz. I look forward to more videos from your channel.
You indicate it was cheaper than you expected to live there, some details on what rent is, what a beer costs, or a meal in a restaurant would be helpful.
hiya Donald, she made this video outlining lots of costs of items. If you live in the US one US dollar = 20 Mx Peso. ua-cam.com/video/Q7JjF35KI98/v-deo.html
I was just there. As an American we were ripped off left and right and the people were not nice at all. Well, they were nice at Coyote Restaurant, the only place I would recommend; we went back time after time.
I just got back from an attempted bikepacking trip in BCS (Air Canada never sent my bike!). Loved my time in Mexico and your videos are helping show me a bit of what I missed (and what I’ll experience when I inevitably return!). ¡Gracias!
Nicely done. Your exuberance and smiles say it all. And doesn’t hurt that you do have a pleasant speaking voice. I’m about to retire in a few months and can’t wait to visit (hopefully sail my small blue water Flicka-20) to this fun and friendly town!! Maybe bump into you.! Please do more videos of other places to explore.!!
Todos Santos has always been my favorite place in BCS. I wanted to live there and we never materialized it. The town bakery in the back of the house with the big beehive oven has spoiled me forever with their hot pan dulces. We used to camp on a completely empty beach. Now there’s a resort there. So sad
We love your wonderful videos and your honesty opinion about the places in Mexico you live and visit. Looking forward to seeing more of your marvelous videos. Thank you.
Thank you for all of your videos about Todos Santos which helps me explain to my mom and others why we have made a home here. To be honest, we selfishly cringe at the good PR but right now, those that depend on tourism would really appreciate the business.
I'm so glad you've enjoyed the videos and I'm glad they could help in some way! It's certainly a little slice of paradise, I can see why you live here!
I found that exploring Baja CA Sur one needs a car. Surprisingly there is limited taxi and colectivos outside the bigger places like in Los Cabos or La Paz. I found this out when I visited Loreto a few years ago. It’s not like down in Southern Mexico where there are lots of taxis, colectivos and buses all over the pace and you don’t need a car.
Thank You Laura for the Todos Santos Mexico trip and your I really appreciate your video planning to visit Todos Santos this year your video is very informative. I feel you make a connection with your UA-cam audience
I drove down the peninsula from Colorado back in the late 90’s….camped on the beach at Cerritos for a month so Todos Santos was our go to town for supplies…amazing town! I loved how it was old school shopping like go to the bakery for bread and go to the butcher for meat and go to produce stand…amazing fresh food! I’m sure it’s grown a bit since the 90’s but we were the only 2 people camping at Cerritos for days on end…some people would show up on weekends…I plan on spending winters down there starting within hopefully the next 3-4!years…perfect job on the describing of Todos you did in this video….on point!
All the reasons you mention are the reason I’ve been trying to get back there. A day trip in 2019 and I fell in love. I’m so excited to head back at the end of the year. I’ve heard it’s changed some since then, but still looking forward to spending a relaxing week. Might be a little early for whales, but I hope not. ❤
Until your video today, I've never had a clear idea of what the pueblo of Todos Santos looks like. Very impressive. It's much more than I'd imagined. The place that you rented looks incredible! Wow! I haven't owned a car since the 1st of March, 2013. I walked exclusively (1,000' elevation change between where I lived and downtown) for one year in San Miguel de Allende. No Buses. No taxis. Then one year of exclusive walking in the mountains of Los Alamos, New Mexico. Since then, mostly biking and some walking in Newport Beach, California. And a lot of distance swimming. I'd be interested to know the reality of living in Huatulca,, Oaxaca. I did find online what looks like a good gym!
Man! You are so fortunate to be able to do this. I would love to retire soon and head to Mexico and explore the country. It looks like Mexico is so much more affordable than the U.S and Chile ( where I’m originally from ).
Thank you for making this. I am visiting soon to help my friend and his family make Todos Santos their home. My family is from Mexico but I've never been anywhere in this area. I'm very excited, thank you for the information.
Lovely video you 2.....TS looks very nice.....I'm from Illinois and I have researched MX extensively(Through YT videos anyway)and if I was going to live in MX somewhere I think I would like to live on the BCS somewhere around La Paz.....Seems like just big enough of a town to offer everything I would need and with tons of things to do & see.....Keep the video's coming....You're doing great.
Cabo Pulmo, out on the tip of peninsula is one of the neatest quietest places Ive found in Baja. Swimming with sea lions was cool,Nancy's place has great food.
Wife and I enjoy your videos. You’ve inspired us to try residing in todo santos. She has dual citizenship I’m working on residency. A bit discouraged on the rental prices. We’ve been looking and it’s tough finding anything in our price range. Trying to stay under 1,300 a month for 6-12 months but nada do far.
Have you checked with Ricardo Amigo Real Estate (RARE) - they are a great rental agency to check out in that area. But yes, Todos Santos has really spiked in prices and popularity since I was there two years ago. Cerritos and Pescadero may be a bit cheaper if you check that area.
You asked for feedback so i'll mention I really enjoy the vids of the things you see around you. The shots of you talking are great, you've got such a warm smile, but more cutaways would be cool. Thanks for the vids! always an enjoyable vibe.
Financial reality: electricity is $ .15 kWh as opposed to Seattle where it is $.08. Gasoline is $5/gal. Chicken, beef is more expensive. Canned goods because you can only buy name brands are always more expensive. Craft beer is Seattle prices. To build a house is 20% more than Seattle. For instance, a 90 lb bag of concrete is $16 in the PNW. In Todos Santos, it is $23. DO NOT BE DECEIVED! Living in the Baja is NOT cheaper than living in the US. If you want to live in a retirement budget, find somewhere on the mainland.
There are amazing places in the peninsula but you need a car, for example you can do a loop tour in the penisula start in La Paz, go to Todos Santos, Cerritos and Cabos San Lucas, and then to San Jose del Cabo, Los Barriles, Cabo Pulmo( a Divers heaven), Miraflores and other small towns and you will arrive to Todo Santos or La Paz
I haven't seen any moped for rent here. There are some quad bikes, but to rent them for an entire month would have probably cost about as much as my rent.
just beginning to explode the possibility of a move, have seen a few of your post here, love your delivery, length, content, have subscribed - thanks for taking the time
Sayulita - ugh no. I stayed in San Pancho for 2 months (May, June 2021) and loved it, but am afraid it's on its way to becoming a Sayulita (overly crowded, loud party town with growing crime). I'm currently in San Sebastian del Oeste (magical town in the Sierra Madre mountains), and am trying to figure out where to go next. I may buy/build a tiny home here and make it my home base during the hotter months on the coast, but it's definitely a remote area which most people would not like. I've been to Lake Chapala, Ajijic, San Pancho, Hugera Blanco, Sayulita, San Pancho, Sayulita, and here. Overall I think if you need water in your life I would probably pick San Pancho (San Francisco) .. great surf, good food, good people, good access to most everything you need, and good times. . . but not over-the-top crazy.
Great video. I really appreciate seeing some of the hiking/cycling trails around town and not just saying "Here's the Hotel California and some people say the Eagles song is about this hotel". I really wish I could loan you guys some better bikes, it would make all the difference. I'm surprised people don't ride around on ATVs/Cuatritmotos a lot there. Keep up the good work!
There are a few people on ATVs around, but not that many. I support if I had known in advance that we would buy bikes, I would have bought nicer ones in La Paz and then brought them here, but they've been great to have to get around town. Glad you have been enjoying seeing a different side to Todos Santos!
Yeah, the views of the wide streets and glimpses of the views from bicycle riding 8:03 were really great. I only wish they could have been longer and more revealing of the "great outdoors" that can be experienced in Todos Santos neighborhoods. Those desert peaceful trails made by small animals over the many decades are really memorable to me. I know the cinematography aspect might be difficult, but that's the Magdalena biome there near T.S. There are tiny clumps of heath species which capture the floss & dross with seeds blowing in the wind and help establish and nurture desert life. So seemingly ephemeral yet, they're really well established around T.S. Maybe you'll be exposed to amazing biomes elsewhere and be able to show us what's unique and memorable again. Thx2!
Nice video. I would love to visit there again. I love Baja and Mexico. My wife won’t go. When I was younger in 1982 some friends and drove down Baja We visited La Paz, Todos Santos and Cabo. Those places were very different than today. I always wanted to go back to Todos Santos and I did pass through on the bus from Cabo to Ensenada after doing a boat delivery to Cabo and having trouble getting a flight back. Hey I can recommend electric fat tire bikes for transportation. That are amazing. If you ever buy one make sure you buy a mid-drive model they can climb any hills. The fat tire bikes are awesome on sand and dirt and great in the road. Cheers enjoy La Paz.
I love your videos of Baja and Mexico City. You have a cheerful personality that makes you and your videos irresistible! Plus I happen to like this country south of our border (California).
I drove there in a rented VW bug from SJC in January of '98 and by far the most eye opening experience was the highway drive. Did you see any roadrunners there?
That’s about when I drive down there late 90’s in a 2 wheel drive Toyota pickup with tents and surfboards from Colorado…the road was pothole central didn’t drive at night we were warned camped anywhere we pulled off for the night in the open desert..spent a month in Todos Santos area….Good times!
I’d never heard of Todos Santos! Thanks for introducing me to this city! I’m so motivated to go there for the food scene. I love seafood and fresh fish! 💪
What a great video!!! I am going to visit Todos Santo now because of this video tour. It seems to have everything you could want to do for outdoor activities!!!! Thanks!!!!!
Enjoyed your video on Todos Santos..how it's grown from my last visit to see the Hotel California in the 90's. I like how well you promote the restaurants and the wonderful character of the people. I always thought the whales were only visible in the Sea of Cortez. One tip... Mexico is known for it's lovely beaches so I thought it would have been nice to see you in the water. Nice job none the less..I'm a subscriber.
You can't swim in the beach here (plus not super interested in swimming with those hungry whales right off the shore! haha). The water is far too rough here and WAY too cold right now haha.
I went snorkeling near there once. Scary as hell! Absolutely beautiful, clear and unbelievable sea life. And yes, the whales will come right up to you. Seals too. But then you know no sharks are around. 😳😂
@@laura-bronner Just an FYI as a Todos Santos resident, experienced surfers love the waves and swimming with the whales, no worries about them eating people. There are baleen whales here (no teeth), humpbacks and grays. Gray whales come very close to shore, digging in the sand to eat crustaceans and the humpbacks can be seen a bit further out breaching like crazy (in the winter, mainly January and February), it's amazing! But yes, the water is too rough for most people to swim.
My son and friends(all from Sonoma County CA.) live or vacation there yearly. I like the Colonial type interior myself but wanted to see TS thru your eyes. IF we move coastal I would rather be on the Sea of Cortez for the gentle warm swimming and oysters.
It's an interesting phenomenon how Todos Santos attracts so many people from California (the US part). I'm born and raised in the Bay Area and the difference between the gringos who come to TS and those that go to the east side of Baja (like Los Barriles) is very noticeable.
I would love to meet you before you leave town. I’m here indefinitely (from the states) and have been coming here since 2012. It took me many seasons to decide to make it my mostly full time home. Your place looks delightful. 💥
Hi, sounds like a nice place to checkout. Appreciate the transportation Bits of information. I would love to see for myself cause the culture, people, variety of foods and things to do are what make a perfect place to hang out at for awhile. It was fun and enjoyable video, your happy face, and thanks for your time and sharing. CHEERIO Amigos🌹🌶
Very informative video. I knew nothing about the area. Good to know about the car/bike thing and the lack of mass transportation. Nice filming, beautiful area. Interesting that the restaurants are plentiful
I loved your travelogue of Todos Santos. I’m wondering Laura, were the menu prices in Pesos? If not they were super pricey. I could get 4 dinners in San Francisco for some of those. Also just toward the end of your vid when you said “all those whales” the screen went black. My dear friend moved there, she plans to build a house but of course has been mired in red tape. She also the surf is “muy peligroso”. She was referring to her stay a bit outside the town. Did you feel comfortable swimming there? If so Que parte?
Makes me want to go back there (I was there briefly in the late 80s) when I get a small RV... But I think central Mexico is going to be a better opportunity for us...more infrastructure, you know? But wow, miss Baja SOOOOOOOO much. Spent many, many long, wonderful camping trips in very out-of-the-way places...yes, and whale watching too. I stayed 10 days at Laguna San Ignacio with a group of people on the remote bay and the game warden took us out on the bay every day to interact (yes, touch even!) the friendly whales there. I was only 30 and it was the experience of a lifetime even in a life full of amazing experiences! I've subscribed to your channel and look forward to following your adventures as I languish here on the wet, cold south Oregon coast trying to work out how to save enough to get that used RV and skedaddle south!
I have driven by Loreto twice and only now do I regret not stopping to visit. As a matter of fact, I didn't even know you they have an airport. It's definitely on my list of places to visit very soon. Thanks
My wife and I are hoping to visit Mexico later this year, Laura, and we're really loving your videos! I don't remember you mentioning anything about scooter rentals in Todos Santos. Are they available, and if so, any idea how much?
I haven’t seen any scooters, but there does seem to be one place renting quad bikes, although I’m not sure how much. You can probably check their website, I think they’re called Omega 👍
That was a great video and the beaches look awesome and the hiking is something I would like to do and the one spot that looked like a pig or a alligator @ 6:07 was cool and picturesque. And Todos Santos is very under rated and I hope that when everyone is able to travel that they think about this place, because I will definitely will and would like to see the beaches and meet the people and eat the delicious food. And I always look forward to supporting my UA-camr's always no matter what. Because I love learning about other culture's and the cost of living and the food & the positive about other country's as well as the United States. Well you and your husband have a great night and as always I will be looking forward to your next adventurous video.
Thanks so much Scottie for your support and for always taking the time comment! I'm so glad you enjoy the videos - Todos Santos is for sure a great spot - I'm sure you'll enjoy the beaches and all it has to offer when you get the chance to visit, let me know when you do! Have a great weekend!
Hi! I loved the video! Just made me want even more to move there. Any locals over here? I need to know si hay escuelas en el pueblo, por lo menos una escuela primaria...saludos desde Argentina!
Hello I enjoy your videos, am happy to see that Mexican Americans, are moving to Mexico and learning more about the culture. I highly recommend the restaurant Alemana in down town Guadalajara, next time you are in Guadalajara try it.
The water is very rough here and gets deep very quickly off shore. It's best not to swim at this particular beach. You can actually see whales right off the shore here during the winter, that's how deep it is!
Please be aware this video was posted two years ago and the cost of living and tourist traffic has really increased in that time period to where the prices in Todos are now comparable or higher than Cabo.

Todos Santos, has a lovely wine festival early part of the year. Lots of fun.

I was born in chihuahua
You just need to get decent Mountain Bikes that can handle the terrain and going up the steep hills. Looks like a terrific place to live.

They make a lot of Fat Tire Electric Bikes that are good for about 20 mile range and 20 mph work in sand and are reasonably priced
Here's a guy that gets it.
We just visited this town today for the first time. I knew there was something special after walking for a bit.
Thank you for all of your videos about Todos Santos which helps me explain to my mom and others why we have made a home here. To be honest, we selfishly cringe at the good PR but right now, those that depend on tourism would really appreciate the business.

We just visited Todos Santos on a tour during our stay at Cabo this past August. Thx for the share!
Very nicely done! I lived in Todos Santos from '90 until 2012. You are right...with a car it is incredible.
I will go to Todo Santos as soon as I can! Great video, love the genuineness and honesty.
Thanks so much, glad you enjoy them!
I live in Todos Santos. Thank you for giving me a video to share.
Thanks for sharing it!

excited to see Todos Santos... was thinking of buying land north of the town. Looks like a place I could retire
It's a really beautiful place, hope you enjoy it!
I love eating at La Generala! Todos Santos Cafe is great too. I love staying at the Coli Bris hotel.

Instead of a car, many small towns in Mexico rent mopeds. Have you considered that? Cheaper and easier to navigate the smaller streets.
I haven't seen any moped for rent here. There are some quad bikes, but to rent them for an entire month would have probably cost about as much as my rent.

Travel by yourself, I do. My better half won't go either.
@@Roger_Ramjet same issue here. Nice to hear others have that same challenge, as I struggle with it
I love Todos Santos, and even Pescadaro.
I love your videos of Baja and Mexico City. You have a cheerful personality that makes you and your videos irresistible! Plus I happen to like this country south of our border (California).
Where to next? Would love to see La Paz more in depth! ♡
A few days in Cabo and then thinking we'll spend the next month or so in La Paz so lots of videos to come!
@@laura-bronner please please do! I love watching your coverage on the seafood 😍😍😋 I miss Mexico
What a beautiful vlog! Hope you're be able to spend another episode in Todos Santos! So this video was shot in January?
Yes it looks wonderful. I just hope those prices were Pesos!
Favorite upload from you so far - Muy Bueno
Man! The whole place reminds me Southern Spain,Costa del Sol,Andalucía in particularly...Well,it was settled by the same people.
What a great video!!! I am going to visit Todos Santo now because of this video tour. It seems to have everything you could want to do for outdoor activities!!!! Thanks!!!!!
What a very beautiful town. The food does look insanely good 👍 what a great outdoor location.
It’s such a beautiful place!
The hospitality sounds second to none there.
I’ve never heard of Todos Santos, but it looks amazing there!
It's been a great place to spend the month! It's very beautiful :)
My only concern, do you need a car, or will a at be allowed?
The weather can get cool
My son and friends(all from Sonoma County CA.) live or vacation there yearly. I like the Colonial type interior myself but wanted to see TS thru your eyes. IF we move coastal I would rather be on the Sea of Cortez for the gentle warm swimming and oysters.
I'm from there too!
Sonoma County that is

It's an interesting phenomenon how Todos Santos attracts so many people from California (the US part). I'm born and raised in the Bay Area and the difference between the gringos who come to TS and those that go to the east side of Baja (like Los Barriles) is very noticeable.
@@prime8nate like what differences do you notice? we are trying out the various spots you mention and we live in ca
I would love to meet you before you leave town. I’m here indefinitely (from the states) and have been coming here since 2012. It took me many seasons to decide to make it my mostly full time home. Your place looks delightful. 💥
Hey Kim! Message me on Instagram (@eternalexpat) or if email is better laura@eternal-expat.com - I'd love to grab a coffee next week!
Hope your enjoying yourself. I don't go anywhere. Because of Covid. Glad you like my pueblo.
Try tequila sunrise restaurant always make special trips from cabo
Loved your video ❤️👍 my partner and I are visiting there next month for 3 weeks I think, def a week or two anyway…ur vid was 👍👍
Totally agree. Don’t want a car. There are so many places to live where transportation is great.
I'd much rather ride a decent bike (not a junky cheap one rented to tourists) in TS than buses in Cabo or La Paz.
Hi, sounds like a nice place to checkout. Appreciate the transportation
Bits of information. I would love to see for myself cause the culture, people, variety of foods and things to do are what make a perfect place to hang out at for awhile. It was fun and enjoyable video, your happy face, and thanks for your time and sharing. CHEERIO Amigos🌹🌶
Thank you! This was really well done yet again
Thank you so much!
the music and the b-roll really adds to the way you tell a story!
Thank you, I'm so glad! Hoping to incorporate that a lot more in future videos!
@@laura-bronner It really adds to the "short story" theme. With that said, when you do talk, you're good at it. Not a lot of "umms", "sooo", etc.
bonito lugar Mexico 🇲🇽
Thank you Laura.
Thanx. ¡Mucho! Waking up in Oaxaca as always, from the mountains to the sea. Very good to see you’re car-free (the ONLY way to bee). ¡Chao¡
It's changed a lot since I was there about 20 years ago.
Very informative video. I knew nothing about the area. Good to know about the car/bike thing and the lack of mass transportation. Nice filming, beautiful area. Interesting that the restaurants are plentiful
I saw "Krakatoa" on your bookshelf. If that's the Simon Winchester book, it's one of the best reads of my life.
oo ok maybe I'll have to read it then, that's a big recommendation!
Great to see what you have lived..we will visit soon.
Glad you enjoyed seeing it!
bahia de los angeles is another of my favorite places!
Wow! What a place!
I just moved to Mexico!
How is it going?
How do you earn a living there? I'd love to go abroad, but earning additional means of subsistence is my main concern.
Great video I appreciate them. Looking forward to following you on your journey. 👍🏼
I've subscribed to your channel and look forward to following your adventures as I languish here on the wet, cold south Oregon coast trying to work out how to save enough to get that used RV and skedaddle south!
do you host retreats or hiking meetups there? would love to join you if so when I go to visit!!!
So La Paz is your big favorite of all? lovely video thank u :)
Amazingly Beautiful Video. 🥂🍾
Never heard of it before. Is it easy to get across the boarder from California to Baja California Todos Santos with the covid restrictions?
Spent a week in Loreto, Baja Sur a decade ago. Best fishing, best tranquility. Awesome.
@@laura-bronner Thanks Laura, they do show scooter rentals on their website.
Great video!! it is much appreciated.
Nice town. Stayed there many years ago before it went more upscale.
Love your videos !! ❤️💯 so many videos out there on you tube , but this is refreshing to me. I like your vibe and energy. 😎✌🏼.
Thanks so much! I’m glad you enjoy them!
Hi! I loved the video! Just made me want even more to move there. Any locals over here? I need to know si hay escuelas en el pueblo, por lo menos una escuela primaria...saludos desde Argentina!
Great vid & info. Would you, consider sharing rental listing info on this casita and other places you feature?
Let's add also the beautiful name of the town.
Hello I enjoy your videos, am happy to see that Mexican Americans, are moving to Mexico and learning more about the culture. I highly recommend the restaurant Alemana in down town Guadalajara, next time you are in Guadalajara try it.
Is there a hospital, doctors, dentists or do you have to go out of town for that?
Do you not go into the water? Why not?
The water is very rough here and gets deep very quickly off shore. It's best not to swim at this particular beach. You can actually see whales right off the shore here during the winter, that's how deep it is!
A reason not to live there
@@laura-bronner hmmm a reason not to live there
