    Fellow Chattanoogan here. We spent a week in La Paz this January of 2024 and we were equally as amazed by it as y'all were. Absolutely our favorite place in Mexico. It just felt so real in the city proper, not overly touristy. Oh and the food. THE FOOD!
    Also as we described it to our friends it's like the blue waters of the Caribbean and south Pacific met the red rock deserts of Utah. Just stunning scenery everywhere you look. We will be back sooner than later.
    Thank you for sharing this video!

      Hi fellow Chattanoogan! That's a perfect description of La Paz: Caribbean meets Utah! It's such a wonderful town and we certainly fell in love with it. :) (p.s. - hope spring has sprung in Chatt!)

    As a foreigner who has called La Paz home for over 16 years, I want to thank you for showing me my city. As with any place you live in for a longer period of time, you forget the beauty and slip into the mundane.... a couple of things I would like to add: Yes, the climate is almost always sunny and nice, but July to September can be (and almost always is) brutally hot (100-120 F every day). The second part of Balandra you discovered at the end of your shift is my favorite part and actually where the famous 'Hongo' (the mushroom-shaped rock you see in lots of advertising and souvenirs for La Paz) is located. I can still remember when it was a famous beach, but not WORLD famous and you could go on a week day and be the only one there and see dolphins and other marine life up close (if you are lucky, you can still see that ocassionaly...). The rock formation you visited I think is called 'La sierra de la calavera' or loosely translated, Skull rock 😉). If in the future you pass back through La Paz again and need help or advice or information or recommendations, please feel free to contact me. I've had the pleasure to meet and help a few UA-cam Van lifers already.

    I’ve seen lots of videos of Baja, but this is by far the best of La Paz. What a beautiful place that would make anyone want to visit as for the beach Kim and I are both are huge beach lovers. We’ve been to the best in our opinion, so far in the Bahamas, which were all private beaches From South Carolina we both love the sand in the shoes. The beach you were at has what we call sugar sand. It’s caused by a big reef just off the shore and the beach being protected in a peninsula. That’s also why the water is so clear there because all the sand has settled to the bottom and it’s not mixed in the water making it cloudy. Super excited to see the rest of your adventures.

    • @chrisandsara
      @chrisandsara  7 місяців тому

      Thank you so much, John!! And that's really cool to learn about the reef and how the sand settles. It makes so much more sense! Thanks for always tuning in and tagging along for our adventures! Hope y'all are doing well. :)

    How was the driving? Was it safe? I’m thinking of driving from LA to la Paz just a little hesitant. And if going to Balandra and want to go at 1-5 slot what’s the earliest we can line up. Thanks!!!!

    • @chrisandsara
      @chrisandsara  2 місяці тому

      Hi there! We felt safe driving from LA to La Paz, but we'd only recommend driving during daylight hours. If you can find others to travel with that would be awesome because it is very remote in portions of Baja.
      As far as the earliest you can line up for the 1-5 time slot at Balandra, I'm really not too sure, but I would think you could get there at least a couple of hours early. They had the line for the 1-5 time slot on a side road just waiting and it looked like people had been there a long time when we left at noon.

    • @chrisandsara
      @chrisandsara  7 місяців тому

      Hi Richard! We actually stayed in a few different spots when we were wanting to explore La Paz proper. There is a Harvest Host that's about 15 minutes outside of town that lets guests stay up to 5 days and they were the kindest people. Highly recommend! They have water and sewer for free and even let you use 30 amp hookups for $10 a night. There's also an amazing campground called Campground Maranatha about 10 minutes from town which we'd highly recommend, too! Not the cheapest, but still far cheaper than the states and they had dry or full hookup sites + a great swimming pool, hot tub, lots of showers and toilets, pickle ball, and more and the entire campground was meticulously maintained. In a pinch when we were in town past dark there was a hotel we found on Harvest Host that would let us pay $200 pesos a night (~$12 USD) to park in their gated lot.

    La Paz it’s the capital of the Baja California Sur state….i really like it , even I lived in Cabo San Lucas,…La Paz it’s less developed…less noisy..and by far less touristy….the beaches are miles long and nobody around….also pretty safe…no bandidos or bad hombres…my prediction : it’s gonna be with in the next 10 yrs the new jewel of the crown of Mexican tourist bureau ..,,my company named FIESTA AMERICANA had one little hotel ..but NOWADAYS we bought a FULL CONDO complex oceanfront at the marina named LIVE AQUA LA PAZ…it’s gonna be my new sales office. Take a look to our website. Saludos compadre from loco mexico

    Note to myself: Add La Paz to my list ofplaces to check out. DO NOT watch Chris & Sara videos after dinner time. .
    Do you think La Paz is a good option for expats? I am not even close with being done traveling, but I am always on the lookout for finding a place to become my forever home. Currently, I am just north of San Diego and California is not going to be my place.

    • @chrisandsara
      @chrisandsara  7 місяців тому +1

      hahahah sorry we made you hungry! 😅
      La Paz seems to have a large expat community but at the same time it's not overrun with expats like Todos Santos or Cabo. It's the capital of the state so it has a high number of professional nationals which make it feel pretty different than some other places in Baja. It's definitely worth checking out! It's a town we could see ourselves snagging a place in one day because we truly loved the people and culture there.
      I'd also recommend looking into Loreto. A much smaller town but lots of expats, very safe, and still full of beautiful beaches. And it has an international airport!

    • @chrisandsara
      @chrisandsara  7 місяців тому +1

      Hi Michael! So great to hear from you! First off, we love life on the road and if you have a bit of wanderlust and are okay with constant changing scenery, GO FOR IT! We can't imagine staying still anymore.
      As far as content creation goes, we'll be completely honest and say it can take a long time to generate enough income to live on. We're 5 years into content creation and it's still only about 40% of our income (we own a web design and marketing agency that's our full time gig). That being said, we still need to make enough money to pay our mortgage and save for retirement. It sounds like y'all are ahead and of us and might not need to generate as much as we need to.
      My biggest piece of advice would be to start creating and see if you like it! Sharing and helping others can be a lucrative business but just be sure you love it because it is exhausting and very time consuming. I also want to mention blogging as a huge way to make money as a content creator. So many people overlook blogging because it sounds dated but if you learn SEO and how to blog properly you can make a living from blogging and it can be a bit more predictable than UA-cam. Combined they make a great job though!
      I know that's a lot, this is a topic we love talking about. We're actually working on a video for in a couple of weeks where we talk about how we make money on the road and tips and tricks to get into doing a similar lifestyle so stay tuned. :)

      In general, in Mexico, to locate yourself in a place, two street names are given, first the one that is called the main or preference (you have the step first) and then the secondary (in this case the 5 de Mayo is the main and the Francisco I. Madero is the secondary)

    I hope I don't sound rude but the first thing you can avoid to do if you respect our city, our state, our region and our country, is not to take the "California" from us. It is the root of our identity and, I know you got one California name too, but that doesn't mean whe lose ours.
    I hope I don't sound rude but please, take one or two extra seconds to say "Baja California Peninsula" or "Baja California Sur", please.
    Still, beautiful video. I live in Guadalajara right now but I'm from La Paz. Love how much foreigners love my beloved city.

    • @chrisandsara
      @chrisandsara  2 місяці тому +1

      I'm so sorry, we didn't understand the cultural significance of the word "California" to the Mexican people. For that we apologize and we'll work to refer to it as Baja California from now on. ❤ The reason we just put "Baja" and not "Baja California" is because we didn't want our American audience to get confused and think we were in a place in the USA.
