- Fraser Island circa early 1980's. Found an old damaged ex rental VHS video tape .
Has been uploaded to preserve and share, as its interesting to compare Fraser Island landmarks, access, travel, camping, fishing of approx 35 years ago to current day . Note the access fee's and
Rainbow beach access to Inskip point.

I used to rent this video on vhs once in awhile. From endeavour hills melboune. There used to be video store there not anymore. But i still have the memories watching and chatting with dad
Great vid... I first went to Fraser Is. in the late 80's with my family in an old Pajero Superwagen. Much fun and very different from today.
The last of the good years . I.m lucky enough to have camped on fraser in the early 70 .s with my parents , old 70.s landcruiser ute canvas canopy , no fancy gear ,used to be all you needed . Happy to remember it that way .

I feel very lucky to have camped Fraser 30yrs ago when it was still wild and remote.
Thanks for these vids. It's the way I remember Fraser and the only way I want to remember it. I stopped going there in the mid 90's.

i visited frazer in those days as well no permits camp anywhere i still visit frazer in the same s w b landie 43 years later
God this takes me back to when we first started going in 1979. The good series 3 landie, the fj40 Shorty, the fj55 wagon, the 60 series.... wowsers..... learning to drive a 7 years old, the lot.
funny how the same landcruisers are probably still driving around to this day

Love the footage! I grew up on Leyland Brothers and Vic Hislop. On, (presumably 16mm?), at the local cinema.

One question. You said in the Tile was Early 80?s. The car passing from Right to left side of the video in the minute 3:00 its a Land Rover Discovery?
Looks like a 1984 Mitsubishi Pajero superwagon, there were a few getting around Fraser back then.

Boy hasn't that changed for the worst
The first time I went up was in the late 80s and this is how I like to remember it. My wife and I went up again last January in my old HJ 47 ute but things have really changed for the worse. The whole place is full of Bogans hell bent of stuffing the place up.
