In this video, I teach how to perform Shin Lim's Americas Got Talent The Champions final card trick. This is a very popular effect that has been around for years. It doesn't take long to learn either - however, you will need to practice in order to learn this card trick!

Shin Lim is a very talented magician who has greatly inspired me to become a better magician myself. I think it's amazing how he has the ability to captivate and hold an entire audience with nothing but a deck of cards.

I thought it was SHIN LIM tht was going to show us how he did his magic, not some dude thts just talking out his ass. And I really stopped watching after 30sec of his BS.

I’ve been performing French Kiss for a long long time and I still get insane reactions to it. This is just one method as it’s the one I use. I think Shin used the top change instead of a double lift bc he’s so clean at that move and it allows for a more free handling of the selected card. Great job as always though Oscar Owen!
And it appears you have a good grasp on the necessary basics. I’m going to start a UA-cam channel this year. If you ever want to collaborate let me know. My channel is going to be designed highlighting basic necessities in magic that lead to incredibly powerful effects, some classic, and some of the best effects from the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, and early 2000’s that took the magic world by storm but don’t seem to be performed by anyone anymore for some reason. It’ll involve making sure the creators of the effects including the handling and order of the moves are named and references on how to find more magic by those greats in the description. If you have time Oscar Owen, HMU and let me know if you think that sounds like a good idea bc it seems like a niche in the UA-cam magic world that isn’t there at the moment (bc there are a lot of effects that are beginner/intermediate level that are supremely powerful). I’ll be introducing tricks with various palms of and when the channel reaches goals set along the way.
And for all Shin Lim fans - I’m a huge fan and clearly so is Oscar. Pls don’t chastise him for revealing this effect. Shin Lim is a GREAT magician. He is a magician though which means every effect does have a method left in the reality of this world. As great as he is (best in the world), he isn’t doing “real magic” like Harry Potter bc it doesn’t exist. Also, no demon magic comments. As a magician I can’t tell you how much I loathe those videos that make it seem like we sell our souls. It’s preying on beliefs of very religious deep seated beliefs and totally degrades this ancient art we all love. I might even throw in a video a week breaking apart Xendrius’ nonsense just for fun.

Great tutorial. I know it isn’t to EVERYBODY’S taste, but I love your style, drama and ‘theatre’. Such a nice change from the usual, (nearly always AmericanI) monotone, garbled, emotion-less script. I think it’s great!
The only bit I still have problems with is the bit around 8:30 - 8:35. I can do it, but getting iit off sooooo smoothly, is mighty hard! Anyway, great work!!

With regards to the Queen/2H switch and how he got the both 2H's together, if you watch the official AGT video on UA-cam slow it down/stop it while he is showing her the deck to prove the cards are not all the same (around 2:17). This is a common thing magicians do. They are not doing this to prove that the cards are not the same, they are doing it to look for cards. He is looking for the 2H cards. At 2:19 notice the 2H. He pulls that card in very quickly, tucks it away out of sight, and keeps going. At 2:22 look at the deck and, oh my, there is another 2H (right by the 10S)! He splits the deck at that point making that 2H the top card, and puts the rest on the bottom (10S bottom card). However, he still has that other 2H tucked away and that goes on top as well. That's how he got both 2H together. Nifty.
Shin lim is a time traveler ! We have to perform these tricks just for practice of coming in and out of this world . All joking aside , he's the best I've ever seen !

in one of the episodes, he actually turned 6 of hearts to 9 of hearts, while the hearts were moving and adding 3 more hearts right in front of our eyes, can you explain that?

They cut to her face, he puts the card on the top of the deck, then they cut back after his right hand has retreated from the deck.
I actually don't mind the somewhat dishonest edits, magic tricks are mostly designed to work in the moment, not to be endlessly scrutinized by amateur magician sleuths on the internet.
You are right. I watch again the video when the girl said queen diamond, shin put back the card on and his right hand make a sign just life you, CLEARLY, THAT RIGHT HAND and the card go to the bottom of table. You make sense!!!
And the camera help him from us. Online spectators. When he put back queen to the cards, camera switch to the girl. WTF
im amazed at the amount of people who think he’s being cocky or thinks he’s better than shin lim. the gist is that he knows how a majority of the trick is done, and he’s telling the curious people how shin does it. it’s like spoiling a book, some people don’t like it and others don’t care and just want to know the ending.
as for actually revealing it, come on. He even wrote it in the description, these are public and common methods, how else do you think people learn how to perform card tricks ?? obviously it would be another story if he revealed personal tricks, but he didn’t

It might be a tinted card, where you can see underneath the tint if it was flashed, you can see that Shin activated the flash of the phone, obviously there's no need for a flash since the stage is well lit but for the trick to work, he need thay flash.

We all know Magic isnt real. But the way Shin Lim does every trick so precise and clean shows his talent. Other people can do his tricks i bet but he does it in a way where its very hard to catch him to the point where it feels like Magic as a viewer. Doing card tricks is an art and he's the best.

I don't think you got his trick fully..... But nice try. You make it too obvious but when I watched shin. He literally let them do what they want and they don't place the Q at the top of the cards like you did....

You showed several ways that he did not use because I watched the shin lim video. Yes, your way works but shin didn’t do it that way. It’s different when a trick is done for one person or on tv with the world watching. You say the spectator won’t notice but again, the world watched and I watched it over and over.
Question:
What if the person choose our “special” card?
(As if the woman had chose the 3 of diamonds)
Then you don't even touch the deck. You have her flip over the top card, and say that it is signed as a souvenir. Then move on to a backup trick/your next trick.
actually we image it complex but it is much simpler than we think. He just makes 2 sets of special card. She cannot pick both tho. The odd is 1/52 but eventually, she may randomly calls the special card, then just give her the real one without mark. And Lim will use the 2nd set to perform his trick.
As a magician he knows a lot of tricks and can change on the spot.
Option 1: Just like Bisu Nguyen said you would need two card pairs. Then just do the trick like Shin Lim did by asking the participant to think of a card but having you (the magician) find the card (selecting the non-signed one).
Option 2: If you wanted to shuffle through the deck randomly and have them select a card, you would have to have the prepared card removed at the beginning so it wouldn't be picked. You would also need two marked card options available to be snuck into the deck in case one's pair gets selected by the participant. Again not impossible but more complicated.
Option 1 Simplified: Shin Lim just avoided this altogether by kissing his card like Melissa, but without lipstick (which he jokes about) so that his card did not become unique. By keeping your card unmarked, you can have your two repeated cards placed inside the deck before the trick even begins without drawing any attention. This completely eliminates the need to hide and transfer prepared cards mid-trick. Unmarked cards also give you the freedom to show the deck to the audience at any point and not risk being caught. Plus you eliminate all chance of variance between the mark you make during the trick and the mark on your prepared card.

For the phone part he uses a special deck of cards called “lightpaint by mathieu bich:) Before the show he just ask her about her favourite card. In other cases he would just ask her to pick a random card.
Lightpaint is different to the effect in the show, but it’ll use the same theory behind it. Lightpaint doesn’t show the actual playing card but would be Q❤️ on the card.
In other words vote for shin Lim because he’s a good at magic 😇
The only problem with your channel's explanation is that Shin Lim was not dealing with having to fool a " spectator "...he did it in front of millions of people and I did not see him palming these cards using the techniques you are describing or if he did it was pretty not easy to see.

My real question is- How he got Melissa to pick the Queen of Diamonds?
This can't be a random selection. Because, the whole routine can be performed with a random selection. But here's the part he took the picture with camera and put the blank card on the table before her choice. So, it is nearly impossible to match her choice if it was random. On the other hand, no force can be done by just asking someone's card in mind.
So, in sense of magic it is neither random nor a force. The only one way left is coincidence. But in 52 cards there is only 1.92% probability to be a coincidence. And no magician would perform on such a big stage just relying on coincidence!
By simple deduction one can conclude "She is in on it" and if so the whole trick holds no merit.

This is not revelaed.. We all know most of tricks are sleight of hand which Shin Lim doing amazing. BUT There are no explaination how picture appeared as queen of diamond?? Picture was taken before spectator's choose? I know back side of the card is special and you may see black but in picture with flash, camera record different thing under the black cover. BUT again, picture was taken before she has choosen the card. On the other hand Card is choosen totally free.. Shin Lim did not ask her to pick one from the deck.. He asked to say!!! First she said QUEEN and then said DIAMOND. Nobody convince me that Shin Lim set up his final performance would be success if he can steer spectator's mind to choose queen of diamond. Other wise he would be fail!!!

Shin Lim is amazing to say the least and you Magic Reveals are wonderful.
Perhaps in the future when you do reveals you may want to consider using the same cards as the trick as it was not easy for me, personally, to follow. I don't do magic and am easily fooled so when you changed suites to clubs I was a bit lost... Cheers...
Holy crap! I shouldn't have watched this. I'm not looking to become a close up illusionist or magician. Therefore, I am a spectator by default. So, why then would I rob myself of the amazing thrill of not knowing how he defied the laws of physics. Now I simply know how. I mean, we all know, in the bad k of our mind that there is a trick to every illusion. That's where the real trick is, trying to figure it out on your own and that is where the joy and wonderment lays. It is in the mystery. We all robbed ourselves of that amazing hair standing, bone chilling "MAGIC." . I will continue to watch Magic videos as I was never watch the reveal of any trick against.

You can buy those. Essentially its blind to the eye but shows up in a picture with a flash.
Look up magic mirror or whatever. If you force the card in the image then you put together the routine around it

The card is a special card. When it is hit by the flash, the card shows up on the screen. That trick can be purchased at most magic shops.

You only have to know a little about card magic to know how this trick is done. I'm sure Shin Lim performs it better and with camera cuts and perfect angles it becomes more difficult to figure out.

What if the spectator picks the card you picked/signed as their favorite card? Get them to change, or do you have two decks with different marked cards and you swap one deck for the other?
