I taught this effect on my channel sometime ago, but there have been lots of new subscribers since then and I wanted to teach them a classic! New magic coming later on in the week :)
What you showed at 2:20, saying the spectator can choose any card they like (second round), doesn't match the way you showed it in the solution. So, the question is how did you originally force the 9 of hearts?
Just for the record it was originally called the Chicago Opener or Red Hot Momma by Al Leech a Chicago cardman sometime in the 1950's. Pop Haydn in 1982 in his routine changed the name to Chicago Surprise to better distinguish a few of his subtleties he added to the trick.
Yup, I learned this trick from Michael Ammar too, Red Hot Momma like you described. Would love to learn more about the different subtleties with other variations. It's been a while since I've performed this trick. I dont' recall the nice sublety in first phase with asking the spectator to say stop as we're cutting packets of cards before putting the other packet on top, place the red card on top.
This is the best card trick i learnt from your old videos, and, i got a lot of reactions, thankyou sm, btw this is indeed the most powerful trick to fool others ;-)
Hey man I was wondering if you could upload a video on this channel where you perform, like 3 magic tricks like a live show. I think it'll be amazing, and if you could make a video where people ask you some questions, not just about magic, like you did last time
Yes I can. I’m slowly going to be uploading content like that (live performances, questions, how to get more confident etc). However I’m making this transition slowly - so over the coming weeks you’ll see more content like that :)
What you showed at 2:20, saying the spectator can choose any card they like (second round), doesn't match the way you showed it in the solution. So, the question is how did you originally force the 9 of hearts?,plz reply oscar
at 2:25, you say that the spectator has free choice to pull out any card that they like, then how come you've used hindu force in the tutorial? if the spectator pulls out any card randomly, then how would it work?
I would do the ‘classic force’ normally but it would take another 20 mins to explain it, so I switched it up to the Hindu force which is easier to explain and works well. But look up the classic force if you want to know how I managed to do it!
Yes in Indian we shuffle the cards like the hindu shuffle, its first preference here😂 Kindly upload more card tricks I love only card magic not any other! 🎉
I’m just starting out in magic. I’ve started with some cars tricks. I’m having a really hard time handling the cards and feeling just one or two cards. Are there any simple things I can practice to get better at controlling cards and learning to do the lifts etc? Any tips would be most helpful. Any books worth buying that show some beginner friendly tricks? Thanks
Don't count on Owen ''the little parasite'' to teach you that. He just exposes secrets. I suggest that you buy ''The Royal Road to Card Magic'' by Hugard and Braue. It's an old book that is still published today. It is made for the beginner and teaches you in a clear way how to master card sleights and entertain with a deck of cards. When you will have mastered the content of the book, you will be a competent card magician, far better than the ''little parasite''. Best of luck.
Hey Oscar you had a video of a card trick which you did over a pool table with two decks of cards, i wanted to buy the second gaff deck of cards but for the life of me can't find the video, can you help please, thanks mate
It's a classic trick and it's not the best in the world. :) But the poor final phase was chosen, which depreciated the WoW effect. The tutorial was also very confused.
You used the "classic" force in the demo, but that's not a 100% reliable force. What do you do if the spectator doesn't pick the card you are trying to force with that method?
2:29 you show the "reach in and pick a card" on this example On the explanation you showed the "Hindu force", but you could explain how you forced the card on the 1st example too Cause I think other people wouldn't be fooled by the "Hindu force". You're picking cards from the top, and showing them the bottom card anyway? Idk
A double lift shouldn't be that obvious, the snapping corner of the card really takes some attention, especially in videos.. In real life it doesn't matter... But in videos you should do some things differently in my opinion
On your performance on the second trick. You let the spectator choose any card by spreading the cards but on your explanation part you demonstrate it by a hindu shuffle. You should explain it on how you do it on the performance.
I know what you mean, but it works really well. Also in Asia, people shuffle the cards like that (as opposed to the overhand shuffle people do in the West). So there is a cultural element to it as well.
@@oscar Yeah the shuffling part is fine it's just showing the bottom card as the selection is just kinda silly and makes it unconvincing to me but I guess they'd have to be paying really close attention or already know it ahead of time to notice what you did there typically.
@keldrath I felt the same way. I thought it was strange that you’re just showing the card on the bottom. It makes the shuffling of the cards on top irrelevant. Am I missing something?
@@Vin_easel no you got it but I guess it's just misdirection and people don't tend to pick up on it Personally I'd just use a different force, any works I just find theres a lot more convincing ones out there.
A couple of hints to make your videos decent. For F#@ks sake don't use stupid music in the background while talking, and secondly talk to your audience and use the camera, look into it when you do a camera change; You are supposed to be talking to your audience, not into outer space. You need to connect with your audience. It would have been a good video except for that.
Adding too much bass to mic modulation and turning up the background music to drown the vocal will not increase your weak testosterone level...try some physical exercise. • south Florida •
What I like doing for this trick is to start off with the red card in gamblers cop so that I can full spread the deck so to add the small detail of no red card in sight... but do you think that that subtlety would work? (Amazing tutorial as always 🙂)
Utterly superb Oscar. I have been watching your videos for at least 3 years, and you always bring something new to the table. Absolutely incredible tricks, that are tops for a beginner to learn. Also priceless to anyone keen in magic.
Very effective trick and great tutorial as well! I learned it in about 20 minutes and fooled my brother and Dad with it. The only thing I changed was using a different card force.

^^noticed this too and am also confused about it
This. In his original performance, the force was way more convincing. Probably, this is a techinque he is not going to reveal to us yet ;)
@@DanXDelion a little dot mark on the card and done. For this trick, you need to know to force a card. *Indu Shuffle* is one, but not the only one...

Proud to be a Hindu and proud to learn Hindu force
Main problem is when they asked you to perform the trick by choosing card by themselves🙂🙂
amazing trick but that hindu force seems too silly for my taste, i wish you've shown the force that you used
I see red card
Says completely free choice then explains that it was a force...
So cleaver
