This is such a well produced video. The visuals are focused with such clean lines. The transitions are interesting, yet not distracting. Concise and uncluttered. And I learned a lot!
I think the rule is simple, if you have to force a face, it's corny and you should stop. Make whatever face you feel emotionally at that exact moment I guess. I've seen a loot of dancers just force it especially little ones and it's so awkward and cringe it's quite comical sometimes.
in my opinion it depends on the circumstance and what emotions are supposed to be evoked within a choreography; thats why they probably made this kind of video bc if facials dont come naturally for some as she said, it takes practice so if its forced to begin with, with time, it will come, well, naturally :)
@@austin9526 I guess you are right, but If the choreo asks me to look angry, I just can't do it because what tf am I suppose to be angry for? I do what I like in the moment and I'll have to force it, which results in dance looking corny at least facial part imo it's just not natural like forcing a smile (god I hate to look at those sour smiles). But I've seen dancers who legit change emotions on their face every second, it looks like a damn emoji wheel I swear.
I resonate with your comment and actually think it all depends on your dance culture. Growing up in Europe, I never heard about dancers choreographing their facials. It was not until I moved to America where it seemed to be a must in choreography process. In Europe, we also share the sentiment that your face should naturally reflect the emotions your are feeling when dancing, thus we never had to choreograph it. So moving to America, I do find the problem of finding myself cringing and looking corny when I try to force on a face during choreography just to follow the choreographers directions. But my American peers don’t have that problem, so I figured it’s just different mentality about dance
@@nguyenyenchi4201 I came from a place of a freestyle dancer, why would I fake my emotions as I dance you know? Tho I am from Europe 😆. Still thinking about more, I get that choreo is a different beast and requires different skillset but still I think you should express you emotion how YOU want and not what the choreographer has in mind, or just put in the back where noone sees my face 😄
Thank you! My 7 year old is preparing for dance tryouts this Friday! The only facials she has right now are #1. Smile, #2. No Smile 😂😂😂😂😂 Jazz Hip Hop Contemporary Ballet Wish her luck!!!
Sorry to make a request outside of the video, but have you reacted to D Soraki? I would love to see it. The Red Bull World Championships, especially the semifinal (?) dance to I'm Coming Out is the most outstanding choreography and dancing I have ever seen. He makes every dancer I've seen look like they are miles behind him. And that dance was choreographed on the spot, after dancing several battles already.
Please react to J-HOPE (of BTS) new album ‘Hope On The Street’ on Friday March 29th. Featuring new single ‘NEURON’ and a collaboration with JUNGKOOK (of BTS) Cant wait to see the choreo !!!!
I would argue that someone who finds dancer facials cringy would ALSO find theater expressions cringy. Dancing IS acting, forcing your body to do things it normally wouldn’t, and appropriate facials bring the movements to life
whoever directs these new videos knows what they're doing
Danyel was the right person to teach about facials, her facials are insane
the girl of the video is also pretty good
@@two2657 hey! The woman in the video is Danyel ☺️
1:31 For some it comes naturally
Love that we got a live demonstration for that statement.

Love that you let this class being taught by the QUEEN of facial expressions! One of my favorite dancers and teachers on steezy!

just to add - thats why dance is so powerful. its essentially acting with movement, and that comes with those "forced" facial expressions.

STEEZY seems to be on vacation. What happened to 3C1S? Reverse Choreography? These videos were fire and now it seems like the fire has burned out.

This is just unnecessary unless you are in theatre or whatever but if you are choregraphing you be you dont make cringy faces

Would Clay do an Intro to Tutting program? I would love to learn from him❣️
