In Limsa if you go to the Arcanist's guild and to the left, you can talk to the airship guy on the right side wall and you can fast travel to the waking sands. Saves a bunch of time not having to always walk over to the Waking Sands from the aetheryte.

More tips to save gil: When you travel to one location constantly, make sure to register it on the main giant aetherite. It will allow you to travel to said location for half the price. You can register 3 areas on trial and 4 areas on subscription. I didn't learn this till like 3-4 years after playing for first time😂🤣. Another tip if trying to travel to Ul'dah without spending 120 gil, go to Gold Saucer then to Ul'dah for free. Also use the hunting log to gain levels early and complete job quest when available for new weapon and item pieces every 5 levels from level 5-30.

Checking guides before doing new dungeons before entering them is something I skipped while I was a sprout and honestly prefer it that way, there's something about the thrill of the unexpected and learning mechanics first-hand that feels oh so amazing, the pure FFXIV experience is simply that good, perfectly paired by the community who is extremely patient and wont flame after a wipe/willing to help you understand mechanics mid-dungeon.

Honestly I'm glad I got in late enough that I can just use Duty Support for all the MSQ dungeons; gave me a good opportunity to get a grounding in them at less than the breakneck pace of three people trying to clear the dungeon ASAP so they can either get their daily clear or get back on the roulette, and once I got into HW and they start using story NPCs for your support companions it just feels a lot more narratively immersive.

One very useful thing that I found out as a healer main after 70 hrs of play, If you want to play dungeons as a healer, but healer queue isn't popping you can switch to another healer known as Warrior. This fixxing bugged healer dungeon queue 95% of the time and you can still play as a healer with anger management issues.
Also you can use Ctrl + arrow keys to change camera view.
Ctrl while using map will highlight Aetherites in the sea of side quests.
Ctrl mousing over items will show you the difference between NQ and HQ versions of that item (if available).
Casting any spell on RDM to trigger dualcast, will allow you to instant cast Sprint... Why is that still in the game, Yoshida-san?

One big for me : the game when I began never really explained the Limit Break. Not at least, how IMPORTANT it is, and how to access it easily (the button never pops alone on the hotbars). We see it when you talk about Sprint tho. New players, put this one on you hotbar, easy access. It's an evidence now, but for DPS it's an impressive amount of damage. For heal that can save the party (litterally, when everyone is dead), same for tank (maximum protection). Some boss mecha even require the use of tank LB (eeeeh yes).

A big one for me recently: there's a setting to allow free movement of the camera when talking to an NPC (as opposed to it snapping to face them whenever you're not directing it elsewhere), this was a game changer for my immersion in the world while questing... I've taken to going into first-person view when running around doing non-combat quests; all of the little emotes that NPC's do to you and toward other NPC's while you're talking to them and progressing your quests, their mouth moving as if they're talking while you're reading their speech bubbles, and just all the little details going on around me in the world that I never noticed, because I was zoomed out as far as I could go most of the time.

A tip I recommend to newer players is to go to the armor vendors in major cities and buy gear in 5 level increments. Place it in your armory chest, then every five levels on your character you can just hit recommended gear and you will be wearing level appropriate stuff. Also, do the hall of the novice all the way through asap. You get a exp boosting ring for under level 30.

And fell in love with healing. I can’t even explain why it fills me with such joy. I enjoyed it so much I went and unlocked Cnj and levelled it to Whm and keep it as my co-class.
There days I’m lvl 71 Smn/Sch and lvl 70 Whm. Admittedly I do use Smn for most of the solo content because I like the lore, but at my heart I’m a Scholar.

To get exp and and train myself on Ast I’m doing the lvl 18-30 dungeons. I’d suggest unlocking Sch, do the job quests to lvl 50 then run a few of the lvl 30-50 dungeons, then a few of the 60-70 dungeons, then a few of the 80-90 ones. - learn extract materia as soon as you're able. Materia I is still quite very useful on the game and it's a good way of making money as a sprout.
    - the market board is your friend. If there's anything you have that's worth something, don't be afraid to put it on sale and/or undercut(as in selling your item with the lowest price)
You don't need to hoard anything. If you don't know what that item is for, you probably don't need to use it right now and you can get it easily later. That serves for items as well for gear.

They were instantly understanding and kind. They explained what was happening and even designated the bard to be my guide. Basically I had to stand next to him and follow him for the entire fight. I did that, and we cleared easily third attempt.

Something I would slightly amend, as someone who completed ARR for the first time literally yesterday: there is an exception to the 'no need to consult tutorials for MSQ dungeons', and that is the 3 Crystal Tower quest alliance raids, which are needed to unlock Heavensward. I saw on the wiki that the fights are largely trivial, so I went in blind to the first one, and died pretty much constantly (playing as melee DPS, but still) (no, not dragoon. Ninja.) I think I literally spent more time dead than fighting. It was a horrible first experience with Aliance Raids. For the second and third, I learned my lesson and watched a 'updated for 2022' guides for both, and I think I died once across both raids, and made such a big difference to how much fun I was having (since a lot of the mechanics you need to have pre-knowledge of or die, but if you have the pre-knowledge, they're very doable). So, I very, very, very strongly recommend fellow sprouts check video tutorials for those. The level 50 Titan was also suprisingly hard, even knowing mechanics, but that may have just been me.
Anyway, aside from that minor nitpick, nice advice, thanks. The 'don't attack after dying' in particular I found useful.

If you say you're new in these raids people will likely explain mechanics to you. Sorry your first experience was rough. I don't remember my first run of that, I probably died a lot too, but I remember it was very satisfying to understand it better after running it more in my roulettes.

The one time I remember dying in the subsequent towers, someone did explain the mechanic. I already knew it, I only died because an explosion knocked me into a second sphere of the same type, but the effort was appreciated. But yeah, that first tower was really rough and un-fun.

Ppl definitely do not wait for you to finish dungeon/raid cutscenes anymore. Especially in later stuff. With that being said, still don’t feel bad for watching the cutscenes. Should they wait? Absolutely, do they wait? It’s usually a no, unless the content is recently added. But so what? Screw those impatient idiots! If they were in such a hurry they should’ve run with friends instead of randos. Enjoy your cutscenes

I started playing the game about 2-3 weeks ago. I love it to bits, love the story, the characters, but especially the couple of people I've met that have guided me through my low level struggles. Wholeheartedly I would've most likely dropped the game if it wasn't for those people. Even though the game is on the newbie friendlier side of things, it is extremely confusing when you start out. Especially if you are used to the skip the story type of mmorpgs which was my case. There's quite a few things that are like, oh just figure it out yourself. Things like differences between field gear and battle gear, how to get into the side jobs like fishing and mining and what not. It took me to lvl 40 to find out that you can save your gear so when you change jobs you don't have to manually equip everything on and off. That you can use dungeons to gain massive amounts of exp daily (literally already had finished ARR when I figured that out). So if you can, grab a friend for those first 20 levels of yours specifically one that's well versed.

Im doing the free trail version for now . a lot of videos I've watch say you really should doe RR and HW rather than skip, but my brother who's already in Endwalker wants me to skip. I have a okay understanding of my character ( Lvl 43 WAR) , but I still want to learn the game and experience the story. Also I feel I need to learn to world more. outside of doing main story im kinda lost lol. any tips on what I should be doing for weapons and armor would be great.

I'd recommend levelling everything you plan to level at the same time cause some jobs share gear and also once everything hits a new milestone like 40, 50 etc you can sell all gear under that level and have a nice clean inventory ^^ also don't be afraid to just talk to people!!

I would actually go a step further and mention hunts and aetheryte tickets. cheap to buy, simple to get, and completely erases teleport cost. would also mention you don't have to feel married to an FC if you do join one. Sometimes theres just some bad apples in them that can ruin your experience or they just don't do the kind of content you want, in which case leaving is totally fine. I had this problem with the small one i was in and it felt like i was betraying them wanting to leave, but it was overall for the best. Do what makes you most happy.

One thing I never hear explained is these videos is the snapshotting of AOE's, it's huuh... Second nature to us veterans just like using sprint to get out of a tight spot is. It feels as basic if not more basic than that. :|
To the sprouts who stumble on this video: AoE's will hit you if you stand in the AOE telegraph the moment it disappears, this might make you go "am I lagging ?" because you're clearly out of it when the effect/damage plays out. It can be jarring coming from other mmos, but at some point, your brain will get used to it and you will go like "aww shiet" when you see the circle disappears and you're still in it, cause you know you're getting slapped by it in the next few seconds. This works the other way around, you can walk in where the telegraph was after it disappeared, but before the effect plays out and be safe from taking damage, this can allow you to slip in a couple more abilities and do more damage than you otherwise would.

Especially the invuln after getting revived is a thing that even a lot of endgame players dont seem to know... or they just ignore it because death 3 seconds after getting rezzed is fun... */shrug*
One hint I would give is: Unlock and use your retainers as soon as possible! Selling gear and items you dont need on the market and getting really valuable items every once in a while from quick ventures to re-sell can give you a well needed gil boost in the early game.
Oh and one more thing, you can change your settings so that new gear that you obtain will be thrown into your normal inventory instead of your gear chest, that prevents that useless or outdated gear clutters your gear chest without you noticing it and having to sort out useless gear every so often

You can rent Chocobo's from the Chocobo keep in the 3 starting cities that will give you something like 10minutes with a chocobo mount if you know where you need to go but you dont have a close aetherite to teleport to. You can also use the Chocobo Porters for a cheaper transport between major aetherites, sure it will take a little longer but you can use that time to check other things that you can use all the gil you will save from transportation fees.
You can get to the Gold Saucer for free if you take the airship from the 3 starting cities. While we are on the topic of cheap/free teleports, setting major aetherites as Favored/Free destinations will save a lot of gil in the long term (I will always set the major hub/endgame hub of expansions as one of these to save tons of gil). If you have Blue Mage unlocked you actually have a free Return to your home destination...its called Self-Destruct (you can also do this in the overworld by getting a mob to kill you)

That Food Exp Buff always annoyed me. Yes, more Bonus is always welcome but it's so extremely small, also not affecting Quest or Roulette Exp, that those +3% (yes, plus. it's not a multiplier of 1.03) likely barely affect anything unless you deliberately just grind mobs and dungeons all the way through. Even then, Armory Bonus is +50% to 100% already, not to mention Rested and special Items.
I am honestly entertaining the idea the real reason people keep recommending it anyways is more about supporting the Boiled Egg and Orange Juice Industries of Eorzea

I have the free trial downloaded and ready to go, and as soon as we hit 2024 I’m going in. By the end of the, by all accounts, ridiculously long trial I should know for sure: MMO’s are either never going to be a genre I like, or FFXIV is a game I’m going to dump a ton of time and money into.

Game changers for me when I was new was
    (I play on controller)
You can put a macro and sprint like in other games and you can just press the l3 button down to sprint
    /action sprint
    /mucin sprint
I think it has to be on 98 or 99 there’s a video about it on UA-cam
I recently discovered this one you can change the 3rd person camera angle I played all through arr to endwalker with my camera being too close to the ground so happy I found that out 😂 easier to dodge mechanics now too. Also enjoy more of the Ffxiv world visuals now.
You can add a second hot bar on top of your original hot bar so you don’t have to keep flipping through your hot bars with L1 there’s a video about it on UA-cam I forgot how to do it myself
You’re invincible right after you wipe just don’t press anything forgot how long it last too I think a lot of ppl know that one
This is for new tanks ALWAYS expect the dps or healer to run ahead of you don’t panic and even if they grab trash just pick them up and keep it moving usually your team will stop right before the enemies so you can pick them up. Also SPRINT before you pick up trash your sprint will last longer than when you’re already aggroed and just sprint in general before trash I use to just do the normal jog picking up trash made me whipe a couple of times doing that (not being aware that you had to sprint) and also while you’re pulling use one mitigation if you do decide to jog and if you’re taking damage (I also said to sprint befor trash because when you run pass the trash far enough they cant do ANY damage to you which is actually really stress relieving playing tank. Use aoe to pick up trash
    Sprint
    Gap closer
    Aoe enemies
    Run to next mob
    Gap closer
    Aoe enemies
    Mitigations
It may change in certain dungeons
(Also don’t forget your tank stance at the beginning of anything you do playing that role)
You can auto change targets closes to you after defeating a enemy it’s in your configurations I forgot which exactly (I forgot a lot of things lmao)
New shield Healers cause I sometimes see some shield players say they guess when to put shields up the enemy on the enemies list has a bar that gets full right before they attack so make sure to put the enemy list somewhere you can easily see it. Focus target tells you too
If you want to get into crafting level your gathers first no kidding you’ll want to get mats by yourself so you don’t have to spend money on the market to get the mats. start with alchemist if you feel too overwhelmed trying to level all of them at the same time I leveled mine one by one starting weaver was not a good choice at all 😂 I say alch because it’s one of the easier crafters to lvl imo not too many mats to get (not too expensive on the mb if it comes down to you needing to buy something on there) and you can get a good groove on how to level your crafters I started doing level quest but stopped because it was expensive ishgard restoration at the firmament is by far way faster and collectibles from 70-90 will get you there quick .
(Yeah this changed from game changing tips to tips overall lmaooo)
Tomestine gear is way easier to get than mb gear when leveling your classes if you don’t have the gil I think you can start getting them at lvl 50 someone correct me if I’m wrong
For new MMO players this play style consist of a tank healer and dps
🟦Tank collect trash (enemies) keeps the boss distracted while dps does damage and healer heals every one
🟩Healer keeps the tank and the rest of the party alive (ALSO DOES DAMGE lol)
🟥Dps does dps they can also have party buffs
(Don’t be like me playing dps and running ahead of the tank just grabbing trash thinking it was like any other game my ARR sprout days were ROUGH🤣🤣🤣🤣)
You can turn mount music off In configurations
You can use your retainers to sell things that you get to sell on the mb I didn’t know about that until mid heavenswards 💀
Healers aren’t the only ones with raise summoners and red mage I think can also raise you so don’t lose hope when you accidentally wipe to something with them in your party new healers.
You can visit other worlds and get things way cheaper than your server if it is cheaper use universalis to check other servers markets on something you’re interested in.
There’s a whole lot more I’m missing but this is already long enough if anyone comments they can add to this or correct me
