On Point. I'm right there with you. I can't believe they're not selling those. I'd buy them in a heartbeat. Honestly, they should sell them individually with a stylized theme case for each stone to match the jobs aesthetics., then they can sell that one big display box thing for those who want to put them all on display from time to time. Id Square Enix wants to drown in money. This is how they can drown in money. I will throw the money at them, through the internet, for my job stones. Hope your paying attention SE.
Same. I'm not interested in a lot of their merch, but if they offered something like the job stone box, I'd be all over it. Hopefully they'll see enough people saying it!
Oh, I prefered AST because of having something to do on the side. It's rather fun having some change inbetween depending on the card you drew, and also be lucky with your hand.
For the Scholar forced outfit change, my main gripe is why don't I look like a Fairy? :( I'd also rather they just gave us the pretty wings - not a whole cloak situation.
Yeah. Fairy motif for the Fairy based healer makes a lot more sense, than a divine angel motif for the Fairy based healer, especially when the divine based healer doesn't get an angel motif at all, and really should. It just doesn't seem to make sense, other than one of the devs is a Scholar main, and wanted to taunt the White Mage mains, by stealing their theme..
SGE casually getting the AoE dot that SCH lost is a bit painful to see. I'm interested in the changes, but I'm worried Healers will still be boring if tanks can sustain themselves eternally on their own.. though not a fan of the angel/fairy theme SCH has going, what happened to Nymian Marine roots?
Wouldn't that be something if tanks couldn't sustain themselves and healers actually had to use GCD heals to keep them up? OMG, a healer that actually spends time healing...say it ain't so. Healers in FFXIV are dps with some extra abilities that the designers require in order to keep the party alive at scripted points in each fight.
As a SCH main, the glamour change during Seraphism definitely has me concerned as I usually lean into the “Military Tactician” concept of the Scholar. Changing our glamours is a bold move on the devs part, regardless of what job it’s on.
I am on the opposite end, leaning more on the Fairy aesthetic. But I am equally disappointed. Why change into an Angel of all things when Eos/Selene are more integral to the job. I just feel like the designer wanted to work on WHM but got stuck with SCH and said "F it, I do what I want!"
I agree. I've mained SCH since ARR and I hate the new ability look. Even if you ignore the fact that I think the ascetic clashes with what SCH is, it looks garbo. Like I should be on top of a Christmas tree somewhere
@@yllarius Christmas will now be the day all the Scholars come out to play. They will post on tree's while White Mages throw rocks at them for stealing their angel theme. Then after midnight, they will go play Sage to reclaim their self respect, and their glamours.
AST looks like an improvement to me, at least the cards are different now. Although I find it odd to remove RNG from a job whose identity is drawing cards from a deck. IMHO they should bring back Stormblood AST and tell people who don't tolerate RNG to play one of the other 3 healers instead. It was a unique playstyle that some people enjoyed.
@@larsbohmer6319 Yes automatically one defensive card added, no mp regen, no crit or speed increase and no customization, change. Also balance will most likely just be damage / healing boosted like it has been for EW. Just like the defensive card will overall defense. It wont be random it will be like SCH Aetherflow and it wont be something you use consistently it will be every 60 seconds. You may as well take off the astrometer, keep the card belt and give the person a staff.
This exactly, what are they even doing sincerely, “Let’s remove the main gimmick of the Tarot Card healer which is the drawing of Cards” Without that, we will literally start feeling like a Whm with extra buffs, since they also removed the 3 sigils + Astrodyne, AT LEAST, leave the main gimmick of RNG drawing cards, c’mon now!
I want to turn into a tonberry with a chef's knife that does massive phys damage but only for one hit and i turn back into regular form. Then the damage the stab does turns into aoe healing across the group and reduces the enemies damage dealt by like 5% or something. Thats the transformation i want. Something really nutty and fun
@lushdontu4015 So? Idc. People are flying convertibles and wearing ridiculous non lore outfits all over the place. It's a game and I think that'd be fun, so I threw it out there. I play to have fun bud.
@@matthewfraley4427 They all make sense. You should read the lore properly. Tonberrys are diseased and disfigured creatures and they cant use magic. It is very difficult to cure and we have just recently found a cure after hundreds of years. Why would the warrior of light want to disfigure themselves? You never even read a lore book before and I can tell
@@matthewfraley4427 "People are flying convertibles and wearing ridiculous non lore outfits all over the place." Ok? it still makes sense lorewise better than being diseased. Black mages summoned a creature hundreds of years ago to disfigure scholars so they couldn't use magic ever again. It has brought a lot of trauma to scholars, so why would we want to do it? How would it empower us? Stupid idea
@lushdontu4015 again, don't care my guy. Get upset all you want. Doesn't matter to me. Tonberries are cool af, and they are in way more games than just this one. You do you and I'll do me
I main AST. #1 reason being infinite mp pool xD. Gotra say I did enjoyed the rng element of the cards. If the Astrologian was supposed to be a tarot reader, drawing cards not at random is bad. It definitely lost its personality. So so far DT may be the expansion when I finally quit healing (I don't find the other healing jobs fun). It is still too early to say, though. I'll have to play it myself first.
I'd probably like the Scholar transformation more if it was fairy-themed instead of angelic ...and if it wasn't a full-body replacer. So yeah, put me down as one of those SCH enjoyers who isn't entirely keen on this particular change.
Still wonder why never wondered that the fairy turns into a seraph even **before** Dawntrail. Which means the Fairy changes into an **Angel** based form and not into an other Fairy. So on my Opinion, it makes more sence making a angel transformation then a fairy one. Meanwhile whitemage besides the wings always was more of a flower-healing Healer based of druid-class.
I think they should turn it into wings only, focused more on a fairy or translucent theme. That can lean on both ends of SCH identity (Fairy and Military Strstegist)
@@hellfrozenphoenix13 Someone on the forums even suggested a tonberry transformation, and you know... that's just funny and fitting enough that I would take it over the angel one in an instant, lol. COME HELLS OR HIGH WATER!
Honestly the Astro rework looks disappointing. A lot of AST mains (myself included) really like the rng card mechanics. Its part of the class identity and people enjoyed the unique challenge, so the devs removing it instead of of trying to improve it sucks.
The old rng was too strong and the variety of cards effect was useless because we were always rerolling for AoE balance. The current system has no special effect and the RNG is quite bland to say the least... The thing is, you can't have RNG and utility together in this game. This is simply not how the game evolved. The new system brings back different effect while cutting on the remaining diet RNG. (Maybe they all do something slightly different?). Personally, I prefer the new systems. I find utility more engaging than 3 times a few % DMG boost to DPS. Of course, to each their own. Ideally, the card system would retain some RNG by having 2 effect for each card category. Perhaps 8.0 provided the current system becomes popular.
Love sch hyped for it but I'm worried about the glam change on seraphism. For Savage raid and ultimate I don't wear dresses because it makes it difficult to see where I'm standing for mechanics. So if it forces me to wear a dress I'm at a disadvantage I hope they give an alternate look or the option of no glam effect.
Also keeping my mind open about Astro. They removed it as a shield heals, they are taking away the sign system which I may say also replenish mp and has cast time reductions. I honestly linked the rng, I think you at least need 2 diff cards to gain the effects from the signs. 😅
I am Sage for Life but I like to dip into Scholar too. Shield healers are more up my alley. Thank you Avy, this was exactly the video I needed to sum up the changes that will impact me the most as healer main. ❤
I wish I liked shield healers more. I like the idea of shields over restoration but I just feel weak when it really matters to get health back up. I'm sure I'm not playing them to the best of their ability but I really don't like having my big heals locked to 3 uses that's tied into other abilities as well.
@@Nozomivamp eheh is a style. Is good they put in 4 kinds so everyone can find their own favourite. I don't mind having slightly potent big heals. Once you get in the mindset, you see they are more than enough even for emergencies. But is a totally different style from reactive healer with big heals. Which is fun too. I just prefer the shielder pro active
@@MCJhanra yea, but when you get the constant RNG tiny shields it makes me sad and rngesus hates me . . . Tho I do play astro so it isn't any better lol
“The RNG made astrologian and unreliable healer.” I must disgaree, no other class had buffs like AST the healing aspect was fun and took a little time to get the Timed heals down but the buffs themselves didnt affect its healing ability even in EW where astrodyne offered its buffs. The simplification will turn the job into the other healers.. some buff window whether it be defensive, offensive or curative for 60 seconds to 2 minutes.
It sounds like the Kardia-type skill is so we can still dps while going through healchecks in raids. i know that would make ME a very happy whm if i got to smack bosses more often while healing! (it's mainly why i even unlocked sage, though i can't play it at all)
i'm one such player that stopped playing Astro during EW due to the changes they made and have only recently gotten back into it once I started using the HoT spells the same way I use the Shield spells on Sage. Regardless the moment I saw the changes they announced in the Live Letter I am so damn eager to see how they work now!
I’m fairly new to the game, and I was so excited to finally get to AST in Heavansward. I love the RNG aspect because it feels like a lot less is set in stone and I have to use my brain a little for the cards and arcana, *but* I think it could potentially be a good thing to have cards not all do the same thing (I’m aware they were very different in the past). While it might lose some class identity to losing RNG, I’m just hoping the new system is still fun and satisfying to interact with because that’s the most important thing ^^
i get that making AST less RNG dependent is a good decision game wise, but thematically the RNG factor always tied into the fact that AST is themed around tarot cards and fortune telling.. you never know what the fortune is going to be, its random, it was thematic and interesting... IMO there were ways to keep the RNG factor while making it more impactful at the same time. like drawing 3 random cards out of 6 (lord and lady are separate) and all 6 of them have their own unique but equal buffs
I'm very hyped with these skills, I juggle all healers so here are my thoughts on each one: - SGE party wide Kardia is the coolest of the skills they showed, and I love the aoe dot, this job was already great in dungeons, it got even better! - I don't really mind the SCH outfit change, considering how little it will last, also I've played RPR before so I'm used to it. As for the Chainstrat follow-up, cool I guess but nothing out of this world. - WHM was the most boring of the four, a gap closer is always a good thing though! It also got a new attack like sch, which again is cool but that's about it. - Big boy AST. I never played old astro, I only joined in endwalker. As much as I love this job and after getting used to the card juggling, the constant weaves in every gcd can get tiring, so I'm very welcoming to the changes. When I heard that old cards used to have other abilities, I got a little jealous, so I'm glad they're bringing it back. I'm seeing people say it will become boring, but I think having defensive, offensive and healing abilities linked to the cards is a lot more interesting that just throwing all cards to the dps, now you ACTUALLY have to think where you want them to go. All cards getting pulled at the same time is also something I like, saves me a couple of weaves, instead of pulling and playing all of them one by one. It also makes sense for all the cards to get pulled at once, otherwise we'd have the HW issue of people only fishing for the damage card. The biggest win is that they brought back that kick ass animation for pulling cards woo!! Out of the 3 roles, I think we got the best of it (that's not me being biased at all wdym?! but seriously poor monks, my condolences), currently I main Sage but I wanted to switch to Astro for dawntrail and the rework is looking pretty good. I'm very hyped to main healer in a world full of dps, my queues are going to be glorious!
I was so excited for Astro but astrodyne is my favorite ability atm and the randomness makes it really feel like a tarot draw. Sad about the changes, maybe some actions for guaranteed accuracy on a cooldown or something would have been nice.
I'm looking forward to the Astrologian changes, I mained it to 90, then leveled the others. Going back to Astrologian after Sage and Scholar definitely felt lackluster, like it was missing a little extra 'oomph' the other classes had. I'm looking forward to the cards giving a little more versatility.
As a AST main, I’m upset that Astrodyne is being removed because it is another MP regen. I’m kinda worried we won’t be able to keep up in higher content unless they replace that somehow. Who knows, maybe we will.
Hopefully these changes to Sage will make Sage players better because I can count the number of good Sage players that I’ve met on one hand mostly because they go into the job thinking it’s going to be exactly the same as playing white mage and so they are often lazy when it comes to healing or throwing a barriers and as a result, your party team wipes often because they don’t realize that the sage class is an active class when it comes casting healing/barrier spells as well as doing damage, you can’t be a lazy, healer and play sage if you wanna do it well.
I'm a sage main, and it infuriates me when I'm not playing sage and I see the lazy sage players. I like to play RDM when I'm not doing sage, and the amount of times I've had to jump in to heal or rez has annoyed me constantly. Like, I love the job, and I love seeing people happy to have me as their healer, but the amount of people who do the job disservice has always gotten people to be skeptical of me when I'm back on Sage. Like, the job really is a ton of fun to play, and you're absolutely right, you can't be lazy. Because Sage doesn't have many pure heal abilities. Once your addersgall is gone, it's really hard to keep up healing if you're not on top of keeping the tank shielded or the most egregious thing, not having Kardia on the tank. Man, I see that a lot, and I have to consistently remind the sage to get Kardia up on the tank. But oooooo boy, when I get a tank that wants to call my healing abilities, it is the most fun I have playing as sage. And they keep my supply of addersting up.
I can't make up my mind on what to play. :( I've mained Astrologian all my time and loved it, then I switched to Sage when that class got released, but didn't like the playstyle that much but kept playing it throughout the expansion. Should I go back to Astrologian? I haven't touched it since before Endwalker, the absence of the class scares me a bit, feels like I'm gonna be a newbie all over again. :c Or should I just continue with Sage in the new expansion and see if those changes will change my mind about the class?
40 second swift cast really does make the bland and meh RDM useful. I've saved a few runs with swift rez at 60 seconds, so I look forwards to trying it out and then putting RDM back on the shelf with SMN - because Square can't be arsed with them. SMN is actually my favourite class but it's so utterly devoid of a soul.
As a SMN main, I just lie to myself and pretend I'm perfectly content just summoning actual primal-looking summons now; and definitely am not upset that they refuse to give us ramuh, shiva, and leviathan despite the fact that we now can store more aether than ever do to the story and therefore it makes the story-reasons "they're too much aether to contain" redundant.
Astro just getting dumbed down from the looks of it.. They're replacing cards with worse Aetherflow. Hopefully the other changes will be fun. Every expansion, the job just loses more and more flavor
@@Splizacularit does, it adds a challenge, thinking on your feet with what youre presented. Now it will always be one offensive, defensive and healing + lord or lady of crowns. Youre essentially reduced to a time casting whm with a small buff window. Stormblood had the right of it comparatively
@@IAmValefreeI was an AST main in Sb and quit when they reduced cards to being boring 3 or 6% damage buffs across the board in Shb. Then ew came and removed diurnal sect for the sake of dividing healers as regen and barrier healers so ast lost some versatility (identity) for the sake of simplification. The RNG aspect of getting 3 different seals is hardly rewarding for the amount of effort it takes. The rng mechanics in its current state is not fun for me at all. The rng aspect will never be the same (because of raiders) and at this point, I'm glad it's being removed Now that cards have unique effects to differentiate each other from one another, maybe the damage buff card can finally be more impactful than the meagre 6% it currently is. New card system also removes old actions like undraw and redraw so we have space for potentially more useful and impactful skills like that aoe divination looking skill.
@@michealwatts7469 Yes, it is a challenge. A challenge that gives you breadcrumbs as a reward. SE could have made Astrodyne more powerful but that would mean increasing the gap between players at the skill floor and players at the skill ceiling. Ain't no way SE would do that when their goal is to dumb down every job to make them playable for people that are as dumb as rocks.
No more high apm, no more randomness that constitutes actually interesting and deep on the fly decision making, we are now spicy WHM. They killed my playstyle and are deleting it from the game with no replacement for it. I feel like ShB Summoners coming into EW. This sucks.
Said RNG only gives a personal 3% damage buff, some attack speed and mana regen. And that's IF you get 3 different seals. Fishing for the different seals is a disproportionate amount of effort to reward ratio imho. With the cards themselves all being meagre 3 or 6% damage buffs, I think the RNG aspect is very weak and unimpactful. This feels like doing surgery for a McDonald's salary. I prefer it when each of the cards have impactful and unique effects like Sb AST. I would also like it if AST doubled down on the time mage aspect. Like giving Collective unconscious an aoe heal that builds up the longer you hold it, not too different from Earthly star. It would give us a reason to actually hold collective unconscious instead of pressing it for a split second. Plus the animation is really nice. Also I think the "cards being SCH aetherflow but without choice" allegations are really stupid because AST still has a ton of useful ogcd resources that don't face the opportunity cost issues and doesn't "run out of gas" like with aetherflow. If a SCH runs out of aetherflow, they're gonna have a hard time healing. If an AST runs out of cards, they still have PLENTY of options to heal.
@@axylum4453 I don't care about doing damage. If anything the whole "This feels like doing surgery for a McDonald's salary", is what I'm after. I want more skills and things to manage because it's fucking boring otherwise. I don't care if I deal the same damage as the local crayon eater WHM that presses 1-1-1-1-1, it's about me having atleast one job in the game that's actually still fun to play for me. God forbid any job is not braindead. The "cards" are completely useless in dawntrail, it's literally just another stack of ED, in fact I'd rather have that, because now idiots are going to be defending the new aetherflow system for the next 3 years until it's removed. There is not a single fight in the entire game that requires more healing / mitigation than what AST basekit can supply right now. In total you press CO like 9 times in TOP and don't get me started on P9S (That's right, harrowing hell isn't even enough to force me to heal, just press MC), this is just another addition to the kit I wont get to use 99% of the time. In other words, now I have my card(s) on a 1 minute timer, because I also get heal / mit cards that are completely worthless and I will literally never use. Just en my suffering Yoshi-sensei-sama-kun-chan-P.
SCH getting so much! I'm so excited! Seraphism definitely fills a desired hole in our kit, where we have the most trouble dealing with Doom spells that reduce HP to 1 and have to get people back to full health ASAP. Also I love angelic aesthetic so giving me a free angel transformation is pure bliss!
I definitely dont think WHM lack mobility since they have lilies every 20 seconds and ends up being dps neutral so far. But i'm definitely excited about SCH abilities, that angel looks amazing

It’s enough with people disliking the Scholar wings, but the saddest thing is that Sage got an AoE DoT when Scholar lost theirs. Just makes me think that Sage is the devs favourite healer
They should bring back extending the card effects. Instead of lord and lady they should add a bonus card for the fourth slot when you play a combination of cards it producces another fourth card that has a particular effect the standard eight do not have: so we would have a unique effect to be played after each distinct set of 3 cards dealt

More stuff to do as WHM? Yes, please. As nice as it is sometimes to just turn my brain off and spam Glare/Holy/Medica I&II most of the time it would be nice to have a damage rotation of some kind for when you want/need some extra deeps.
Personally I hate the changes they'll do AND already did in the past to the AST. He was complex, fun, challenging and super unique. With Endwalker I was sad about the simplicity, but now he lost his charme entirely. Well, at least for me, if they really change him like that.
Imo number one priority for healers should be that they have to make them more fun to play. Have to spam the same button for 90% of the time is not fun.
My issue with AST and why I stopped playing it is that the original card system was perfect to me and the change to "all cards are just dps buttons" made me cry. If you do the math it worked out to something like a 4% overall DPS increase in an 8 player group but with 100% of interesting gameplay removed. imo literally ANY change from what it was turned into is a strict improvement, even just straight up removing it because it's not an interesting part of the job anymore as-is.
Losing astrodyne will suck if they don't give us something similar in exchange. I loved AST when it first launched. It took some getting used to with the cards how they are now, but losing astrodyne means losing extra mp regeneration, extra damage, spell speed....it wasn't hard to just redraw if you didn't get the sign you wanted. You could even macro the redraw button to the same spot as the draw button since it was on a 30 second cooldown. You were even guaranteed to not get the same star sign twice in a row, so if you needed a different sigil you had a 50/50 shot to get the one you wanted. 2 out of 3 was fine. No matter what, you were buffing your team. That one button feels the same way as losing the samurai button to me. The job was not that hard and the cards weren't even poorly optimized. Half the cards were for melee/tanks, the other half were for ranged/healers. I've also noticed that whatever I drew would always be the opposite type. So if I needed melee and I drew a ranged card, redraw. Poof. Problem solved with unfailing accuracy. I may have to drop the class if we have to have significant changes every update/expansion...I'll hold my breath on that one. There just has to be more to it than just the simplification and drop of the skill. They have to give us back some MP or some other kind of trade or its just a nerf in my oppinion. Sorry for the wall of text, it just sounds to be not as great as it seems on paper.
I’m gonna guess they are focusing in ASTs burst capability on 60s. Draw 4 cards, give away two to dps and crown of thorns with a heal in the pocket. I think it’s great and all the complainers are crazy
I’m looking forward to the AST changes. I really like the card system for AST in pvp and, from the looks of it, it’s gonna have a similar feel hopefully? I will always play AST-- the power of the stars will guide me ✨
I feel like Astro is on the path of becoming the summoner of healers. Once being a fun and unique class only to be dumbed down so much that it looses it's spark. It's disappointing to see them go this route with Astro.
I really hope they make it so we can chose our own sch "angel" glam, i think people would make alot of funny outfits and we could have a whole magical girl transformation going on xD missed opportunity if they dont ( i assume they wont tho :( )
"Rng makes ast an unrealiable healer" Not sure if you played ast long enough to make this claim, but ast has arguably some of the best healing kit and mp economy in EW. Sure it has it's flaws and sure the rng can be a pain but calling it unreliable is very far fetched. Well whats done is done and we see the DT changes already.
AST was the first healer that I ever played in an MMO. the concept was so cool that i just had to try it. since then they've done nothing but homogenize it and weaken its class design. it's a shame
Worried about AST, but honestly I have not liked most of the AST reworks. SCH and SGE I am excited for. I feel like I love the way SCH plays, but always think I should like SGE more for some reason... don't like the aesthetic direction SCH was taking so I may be a SGE main.
you're confounding "capable' and "popular'- it was by far the least played healer, had the least logs of any healer as well, in no small part due to prior ASTs leaving after sequential reworks. Didn't mean however that some very good healers still stuck with it.
"Swiftcast reducing from 60s to 40s will let us revive people more often." In reality we will all be swiftcasting Holy and Glare 20s more often, not Revive 😂

I actually drop scholar for sage if the game makes me use it too much.
A lot for people in my experience…
It was difficult sure but once you nailed it down it was just a joy.
tbh I even like AST as it is now, at least for casual play. the RNG part is cool and part of the aesthetic.
Essentially, AST get their old Cards back, one increase Physical Damage, another Magic Damage and Healing Potency
This exactly, what are they even doing sincerely, “Let’s remove the main gimmick of the Tarot Card healer which is the drawing of Cards”
Without that, we will literally start feeling like a Whm with extra buffs, since they also removed the 3 sigils + Astrodyne, AT LEAST, leave the main gimmick of RNG drawing cards, c’mon now!
That is stupid. Turning into a tonberry is a nerf lorewise.
@@matthewfraley4427 "People are flying convertibles and wearing ridiculous non lore outfits all over the place." Ok? it still makes sense lorewise better than being diseased. How would it empower us? Stupid idea
@lushdontu4015 again, don't care my guy. Get upset all you want. Doesn't matter to me. Tonberries are cool af, and they are in way more games than just this one. You do you and I'll do me
I just hope the AST card changes give MP from playing cards. The fact that I never have to worry about MP if im playing my cards is why i love Astro
Agreed. Such a strange decision by them, I think!
SCHs have no idea where Seraphim comes from, just like MCHs have no idea where Automaton Queen comes from.@@eludariel6603

Honestly the Astro rework looks disappointing. A lot of AST mains (myself included) really like the rng card mechanics. Its part of the class identity and people enjoyed the unique challenge, so the devs removing it instead of of trying to improve it sucks.
I agree I would have liked an extra option to re-shuffle cards or signs
Yea same honestly
if they brought back real rng cards like sb i wouldnt mind but as they are now they're awful; the rng element doesnt even matter
Yall are wild….. I think the update is good, I hated the simplistic rng of healer mechanic. Lol but that’s just me
Love sch hyped for it but I'm worried about the glam change on seraphism. For Savage raid and ultimate I don't wear dresses because it makes it difficult to see where I'm standing for mechanics. So if it forces me to wear a dress I'm at a disadvantage I hope they give an alternate look or the option of no glam effect.
Probably not happening considering RPR enshroud faces the same issue and you have no options to fix it
Also keeping my mind open about Astro. They removed it as a shield heals, they are taking away the sign system which I may say also replenish mp and has cast time reductions. I honestly linked the rng, I think you at least need 2 diff cards to gain the effects from the signs. 😅
4:40 scholar used to have an aoe dot ability
The big question is: does the scholar seraphism change my lala into a non-lala form for the duration of the ability?
Angelic potato, I guess 😂

Removing the astrodyne buffs is mixed for me as I enjoyed having an extra MP generator
as a whm main, i couldn’t be more happier about the job changes and additions; another attack and the gap closer! i love it!
“The RNG made astrologian and unreliable healer.”
I must disgaree, no other class had buffs like AST the healing aspect was fun and took a little time to get the Timed heals down but the buffs themselves didnt affect its healing ability even in EW where astrodyne offered its buffs.
The simplification will turn the job into the other healers.. some buff window whether it be defensive, offensive or curative for 60 seconds to 2 minutes.
The ring is what made ast ast. I'm not an AST main, I actually rarely touch it, but I'm still a lil mad
Rng* stupid autocorrect lol
It sounds like the Kardia-type skill is so we can still dps while going through healchecks in raids. i know that would make ME a very happy whm if i got to smack bosses more often while healing! (it's mainly why i even unlocked sage, though i can't play it at all)

I like the gameplay idea for Seraphism, and I love transformations, but aesthetically SCH is becoming a mess
I for one am happy the cards now each have different effects again.
i'm one such player that stopped playing Astro during EW due to the changes they made and have only recently gotten back into it once I started using the HoT spells the same way I use the Shield spells on Sage. Regardless the moment I saw the changes they announced in the Live Letter I am so damn eager to see how they work now!
i played astro just for lvl up to 90 and it used to be one of my most played classes, i really hope it will be fun again
I'm very hyped with these skills, I juggle all healers so here are my thoughts on each one:
- SGE party wide Kardia is the coolest of the skills they showed, and I love the aoe dot, this job was already great in dungeons, it got even better!
I'm keeping my mind open about AST. I never really played it much so I'm curious to see how the new setup works!
Who knows, maybe we will.
my thoughts exactly. are the cards still going to give us that small mp boost since we're drawing 4 at once? i am worried for my mana pool
Avy has the best intro for a UA-cam channel I’ve ever seen and I’ve been here since the OG days of UA-cam where we had a 5 Star rating system 😂😂
Me as a AST main doing Lightspeed+Rez for a 4sec rez “kewk”
I was really hoping they'd ogcd that blood lily misery skill /sad. I really hate how casting it kills my dps flow lol.
Hey Avy! Love the content
Astro just getting dumbed down from the looks of it.. They're replacing cards with worse Aetherflow. Hopefully the other changes will be fun. Every expansion, the job just loses more and more flavor
Kinda odd how rng and inconsistency is "flavor" 🤷♂️
@@Splizacularit does, it adds a challenge, thinking on your feet with what youre presented.

@@Splizacularkinda odd how this rework is made for people that don't play AST instead of people that already love it...
The rng aspect will never be the same (because of raiders) and at this point, I'm glad it's being removed
Now that cards have unique effects to differentiate each other from one another, maybe the damage buff card can finally be more impactful than the meagre 6% it currently is. New card system also removes old actions like undraw and redraw so we have space for potentially more useful and impactful skills like that aoe divination looking skill.

Yes, it is a challenge.

AST no longer being random has killed my interest in the class. That was part of its identity, and what made it fun.
No more high apm, no more randomness that constitutes actually interesting and deep on the fly decision making, we are now spicy WHM. They killed my playstyle and are deleting it from the game with no replacement for it. I feel like ShB Summoners coming into EW. This sucks.
@@IAmValefree First time?
Agreed, especially beacuse they already simplified him in the past...
The reward isn't playing a more challenging job and getting higher dps or whatever. The reward is playing a more challenging job and not falling asleep out of boredom.

AST was main in SB and SHB, I love the look of DT AST
Imo number one priority for healers should be that they have to make them more fun to play.
Have to spam the same button for 90% of the time is not fun.
Off topic but what is that white mage weapon the miqo’te is holding in the thumbnail to this video?
It’s the new AF weapon!
Hardest part of the new astrologian for me was resisting the urge to spam all four cards the moment I got them and mess up my gcd.
Thank you! I totally agree that the WHM should be able to turn into an overpowered angel or whatever the scholar got.
Like Temperence?
I’m gonna guess they are focusing in ASTs burst capability on 60s. Draw 4 cards, give away two to dps and crown of thorns with a heal in the pocket. I think it’s great and all the complainers are crazy
I’m looking forward to the AST changes. I really like the card system for AST in pvp and, from the looks of it, it’s gonna have a similar feel hopefully? I will always play AST-- the power of the stars will guide me ✨

"Rng makes ast an unrealiable healer"
Not sure if you played ast long enough to make this claim, but ast has arguably some of the best healing kit and mp economy in EW.

White Mage getting En Evante was not on my bingo card
and Scholar gets Avatar haha
I am astro and scholar main, but i d love to know what people love abt white mage, its my last healer to still lv up.
Puh Astro is my main. I‘m really worry about the changes. Every Addon we get a new card system. That’s really annoying to learn every time 😩
Worried about AST, but honestly I have not liked most of the AST reworks. SCH and SGE I am excited for. I feel like I love the way SCH plays, but always think I should like SGE more for some reason... don't like the aesthetic direction SCH was taking so I may be a SGE main.
AST was not unpopular in endwalker. It was one of, if not the best healer. Capable of solo healing ultimate
you're confounding "capable' and "popular'- it was by far the least played healer, had the least logs of any healer as well, in no small part due to prior ASTs leaving after sequential reworks. Didn't mean however that some very good healers still stuck with it.
where is your white mage weapon from?
It's the Stormblood White Mage relic weapon!
Eureka Anemos Relic :3
I want to use white mage more on dawntrail. But I'm designated tank in my FC 😢
If I were a scholar and they changed my outfit I’d be pissed 😅 like just give me the wings and leave my outfit alone
"Swiftcast reducing from 60s to 40s will let us revive people more often."
In reality we will all be swiftcasting Holy and Glare 20s more often, not Revive 😂
Was AST unpopular in Endwalker? I somehow didn't get that vibe at all lol
Is everyone forgetting that WHM had a AOE dot? Aero III?
And SCH… aoe dot + able to spread single target dots.
with the pure/barrier healer divide. It looks like pure healers are getting new damage spells whereas barrier healers are getting aoe dots. It's not much but it's a lot better than the 121111111 gameplay healers have right now
@@axylum4453unfortunately looking to be that same 11111211111 gameplay. You can't use the new ability until the 2m mark under presence of mind. So yah... enjoy 1111121111. Same with Sch and Chain stratagem. Sge is too early for me to comment if the dots stack. (If they do then that will be the first healer to ever break it) [outside older iterations of healers](tbh I miss it)
But tbh SGE will only have a reduced 111112311111111111111 bc dots have a longer duration now then they did back then.
Yay Avy post!
Man i wish they saw my forum post and put in a Jecht like ball player phys melee/ranged class that was a spell fencer with ranged elemental ball attacks for the beach episode of ffxiv.
seriously. the viper looks pretty mid, but a blitzball player would be topical and exciting.
haven't touched WHM for whole of EW or even shadowbringers they had horrible mana effeciency did they ever fix that?
There are already many people upset about the SCH outfit change lol
Wait AST was unpopular in EW? How come I was always quing into me and another AST during trials? I love AST
Back to maining AST yayy
I love how they gave whm a dash but most people cant even hit the sprint button or use expedient as a movement tool outside of raids
