@FunkThompson well it will be a spacey shooter with fps parts. I wrote a back story. It will be mutli player but as an indy I am thinking of first host your own server. But move to something more sand boxy if the cash is there to invest in the backend infra
well i have thought about this, but not yet, i want to release a demo first or a few and see the uptake. there is also the uncertainty of a fund and i dont want to take that on unless there is a a good indicator it will be wanted. just somethings does not sit right with me about taking money off of people and it not get fully delivered.

Hi, i cant take credit for those ships i buy them from artists, although i may mod them in blender so it fits the idea in my head. Game Dev has many disciplines, i can do the art work but as i am doing everything i just have to use the wallet dev to get me things i want sometimes. you are right though some of the ships you can see where the artists got the idea from.
I cant really comment on it, the last time i played it was about 5 years ago. i hear there are lots of good things these days, i understand your frustration about how long it has taken them so far. My project wont be anything as polished as theirs lol i dont have 500 mil to blow.

Hi, there will be gameplay out of the cockpit on legs. looking at scenarios for this, i want to avoid ED exploration if i can though, i mean i spent 9 months out in the black in ED and i worked it out you do 9 things, just 9 things in the cockpit, 9 things in the SRV and 9 things now on foot since space legs. not saying something like that wont be there as anything is possible but do i want to spend a few months designing something so boring. i will be doing flying stuff first and add bits to FPS as i go. just have to remember i am one guy, development is not hard but slow.

what reference did you use to set up your flight model to support 6 degrees of freedom? I'm just starting to work on my own project, and could use some guiding help. did you rely on c++ scripting , or did you use blueprints? for reference, I'm using unreal 5.
this is unity so i am using their version of physics, so a ridge body gets force applied depending on the input. unfortunately i don't know enough about UE5 to be able to help you on that one. in unity we use C#
it will be VR at first, to make it 2d requires all of the interactions to be re-written which will take some time, to do 2d is a lot simpler but more to test and debug. on a personal note VR for the flying part takes the experience of flying to another level.
@metalheadmobster at some point you will be able to control the larger ships. I am planning the scenario on how it will work. Single player something like RTS...maybe Multilayer well this is why maybe transferring data from different game types can be tricky to keep everything in sync but everything can be solved in time

nice work, but maybe if you plan to get this as game later , just announce something bigger don't burn it all on short nonsense videos and get a name for it so ppl can follow your work. maybe one day you will get this project finished good luck.
Hi Cozzyhane, the flying is a script i wrote that can be changed to any spacy ship type thing you want and give it, its own characteristic, I am thinking of publishing the build of the video but there is not a lot you can do with that ship as i have only just started building the systems from it. just so you know even though this is VR it is use mouse and keyboard to fly at the mo while i work on the virtual HOTAS system which is what i am working on now.
well for me when building functions for things it is best to do them small and test. so far the features i have put in i have a plan for them, there are many more but i can add them as i go. it is early in the project at the moment but i will be aiming to release bits of it so people can try and play around. i know it wont be everyones cup of tea but i am not doing it for profit just a bit of fun.

We went back and looked at space engineers and this reminded me of it although this looks a lot better visually. Can I read about it somewhere or do you have time to describe what it’s about?
At the mo i am building a site to go over the project and where it will be going from a function point of view. The site is not ready as of yet and i am not working on this full time as I do something else. But in time it will be out. I have written a back story, so some lore, what i would like to do is create scenarios that fit in to that lore. I don't want to create a elite type of feel where some guys poor years of their life in to finding something that is not going to happen but fun scenarios for friends to play. it is a bit early on how i am going to do that. but i tend to develop small chunks at a time. my focus is creating the functions of the ships and player at the moment. Game dev is not hard but slow especially when you are a one man team. it is going to take time, but i plan to release some demos for people to play around with. the one thing i am sure of this is for VR first 2d second.

I am building a site where ill post updates on it. although this project is indy, it will be released in some state and ill just refine it as i go.

i can do the visuals of SC, but i suppose will be like ED but not as big, i am still deciding on how i am going to make the star systems work.
