It worked, but the shape didn’t turn out right because the form you used was not firm enough to hold the desired shape. If you look at the Shoe Goo videos, you’ll notice they use strips of plastic sheeting, or cardboard strips cut from old packaging. Which are much thicker and firmer than masking tape alone. Or if they use masking tape, they fold it over 3/4s of the way leaving a small strip of the sticky side which adheres around the back of the heel. Leaving the thicker folded over side at the top to serve as the form. Try it again using a thicker, firmer form as I described and you’ll have success. Also notice how they squeeze out the goo, they start at the left side of the form and go slowly and steadily back and forth from side to side in rows of goo to fill the gap. They don’t use the stick that much.
