I held off on the Mezco version until i saw it in stock online. The promotional pics for the Mezco really don’t do it justice. As a owner of most of the Neca preds I really do enjoy the Mezco version. I really hope they continue the line.
For me i would go for Neca always loved the box he came in accessories are great and poses well ! Great comparison it's cool to see mezco do there version like I mentioned in your review dreads look awesome on the mezco !
The real netting, interchangeable mouth pieces, and led lights on the MEZCO easily make it better than the NECA. NECA ones are way to fragile but are a great bang for your buck.
@@bedfordshiremodeller4491 would have been nice but let’s be honest. He only used that in the very end of the film. The LEDs on his bio mask and blaster were used throughout the film. LEDs on his gauntlet also would have bumped up his price even more. I’m okay with what we got.

The skin tone is way off in the ultimate neca and I frankly don't understand why they did that when they got it perfect in the old 7 inch or the 1/4 scale

I honestly liked the Mezco mask due to it's design, but I can say that it kind of reminds me in a way of Scout Predator's bio helmet from Predator 2 who did have the same exact mask but with City Hunter's costume.
Between your sticking to accuracy, and your always looking for the best figures to get, I am a bit interested in a Mezco now. I was gonna pass, but after seeing your vid, the Mezco is pulling at me. (Glad I got the NECA one already!) Thanks for such a thorough comparison! 👍
Great review and it's a hard one. I feel mezco are more premium to feel in hand (most times) but neca has a lot to offer and at a much cheaper price. The mesh eyes I am unsure of, as I know prime 1 collectors have been on at the company to update the mesh eyes for the upcoming 1/3 jungle predator. So must be a thing somewhere maybe. Interesting to know for sure.
It appears to me that the 6th scale Mezco was modeled more after he classic predator from Predators move. P1s head is not as flat as predator 2 and other predators newly developed after P2, including the flattened mask and steeped head, which is probably why this bio mask almost resembles the city hunters mask in terms of proportion
Go look at the Prime1Studios Jungle Hunter (Predator) & City Hunter (Predator 2) resin statues, they’re movie accurate and their heads are very different, very different shape to the top of the head and pattern on the skin between the two.
Neca crushes it for me. The whole way other than the size of the mask they seem to not even have tassels but suppose you can add them but it’s just a must. Jungle hunter always had the black shades reflective eyes no mesh nice and shinny no mess with me look !.
The Prime1Studios are the nicest Predator resin statues, those 3 new Jungle Hunter, City Hunter & Berserker statues are amazing. Although I utterly despise the design of the Berserker it’s still a really cool statue if displayed with the mask on. I got so mad when I watched that movie and he took off his mask to reveal the big spider head. I just knew Hollywood couldn’t help themselves, they had to mess with the design, they’re incapable of leaving perfect things alone, his design is perfect, it can only be made worse, and that’s exactly what they did. And they actually even made it worse in the last movie “Prey”, that’s not even a Predator, looks like a completely different species, looks horrendous.
I've got the 2 neca j hunters original and new painted one I think it's one of the best looking preds but mezco one looks awesome aswell it's a close cool to be honest they are both really good in there own ways I think I will get some mezco figs next year to go in my collection I've only got neca and mcfarlane at the moment
For as cheap as it is the Neca one is considerably more accurate, I'd go for that one if I had to choose. But not because of accuracy, but because Mezco has a particular style that doesn't work for me And yeah the skin bit is controversial I guess, I mean I have the OG Jungle Hunter and his skin color is accurate, the version you got is V2 or V3 and while the articulation and sculpt is slightly better the paint is way off, if you were to compare it to the OG then Neca wins very easily. But besides all of that, the price difference is a big deal, that tiny Mezco predator is not worth that price not even remotely... save your money and get 3 Neca ones Edit: bruh... I didn't notice before the Mezco box used that picture of the old ugly HT biomask 😂 that's just embarrassing
Agreed NECA is more accurate. Mezco is really good for what its worth. I wonder about the Mezco head size, if the biomask from MECA (7 inch) works on head of Mezco, that makes me feel the Mezco head is oversized.
You confirm what I thought when this was on presale ! I was thinking of buying it and then I realized that I could buy almost 3 Neca for the same price and the difference wouldn't be that noticeable, especially since you usually don't use the lights often ! Great video, very informative and impartial !
Just got the mezco figure. I'm not a big fan of it. Articulation kind of sucks. Can't even turn the cannon sideways all that much. It's nice looking. I'll give it that. I also have neca's ultimate version, and that one to me is spot on.
I prefer the Mezco myself. The coloring on the Neca is not for me at all. Too dark so the detail can get lost and that yellow is UGLY. I think most the differences could be explained simply as the figures representing different parts of the movie. You mentioned the Neca bicep swivel and said Mezco didn't have that, does Neca have elbow swivel that the Mezco has? Does the arm computer flip up on the Neca armor? Are the skull necklace/sashes removeable on the Neca? Does Neca have a any lightup functions? In the end what it breaks down to most of all for me is the Mezco looks almost alive and the Neca looks like a toy. Neither are perfect so it's down to personal perception for everyone
One thing I notice on alot of these figures is that they never have the hoses that connect to the mask...hot toys are the only ones that were accurate..

@@saintjudazzz @Saint Judaz its way better. I have 4 Neca predators and they are all stiff as hell and constantly fall over even with stands. Just dinky and they were a product of their time. They are also not in scale with most high end 6 inch figures. I feel like they are more toys than anything. This mezco predator is great, easily poseable and I had no issues with him at all, didnt even need a stand. The Alien is A+ also. Love it
I'm shocked, but I'm not haha. I think for the price the neca wins hands down. Yes you lose a bit of detail and extra mouth n hands but not 100 pounds difference.
Neca figures for me have the price advantage. I’d love a $130 Predator but that’s MAD steep. For me I’d just save up another $150-145 and get a hot toys. My local shop has the mezco for like $125. Maybe I’ll pull the trigger on it after I watch this and see what I think. I’ll let you know after I watch. Edit: hell no lol I’m sticking with Neca.
Comparing 2 jungle hunters figurines and not Mezco Vs Neca. The mezcos figurine looks good as well as the Neca, if you are a person who is really detail oriented, I’ll go with Neca on the jungle Hunter. The Neca figurine looks very but very close to the jungle hunter in the movie. The Mezco biomask looks more like the City Hunter or AVP version. Both are great looking figurines, perhaps Neca has been longer in the business and came up with more version and experiences.

I like both for different reasons. I find the Mezco one has a much better plasma caster assembly, the Neca one falls off a lot. I noticed like you that the mask on the Mezco one is way too much like Predator 2, especially after they took so long to release it and it didn't look like that in the pre production shots, is that false advertising? Should they send people an updated mask that actually looks like the movie it's from, though I love your work around you did... Neca one looks so much better with the mask and even the maskless head look a bit closer to the shape of the head in the film. Other pro's with Mezco is the cloth and mesh clothing
I would say although Mezcos Predator has great paint work and sculpted detail, probably topping Neca in that regards, when putting into account the price point I just believe Necas is an overall better value. For $60 cheaper you get a well articulated, accurate looking, and accessory packed figure that just can’t be beat for the value alone. Mezcos is great but if I’m going to be paying $100 for a figure of a character that already has cheaper alternatives, it better blow me away.
I wasn't too interested in having the Mezco version, but your awesome videos are tempting me and I know how good Mezco are because I owned the Deadpool figure and that impressed me.
Each version brings something different to the table. NECA is more screen accurate. However, the Mezco release is higher quality. I'd probably get the Mezco version since I already own the NECA version. Thanks once again Dean! God bless and stay safe!
You can't mess up the mask on a Predator like that, Mezco lost right out the gate. Also Neca Preds are in that beefcake scale, I like how even the smaller ones still dwarf most other figures.
That is bootleg neca predator. The bootlegs always make the flesh tone way to yellow. I own two of the original neca version and they don't have the yellow skin tone.
That one isn't bootleg, after the AVP predators came out Neca started giving alot of the Predators this yellow skin paint look on them and now the 3rd issue of this jungle hunter doesn't have the yellow skin anymore, it has the normal skin color look. Idk why they were going with the yellow skin look tho
My NECA ultimate doesn't look as yellow as yours for some reason. In fact I wouldn't describe my figure's skin as yellow at all Got it from BBTS. Are you sure yours isn't one of the chinese knockoffs? Overall I agree that NECA wins but by an even higher margin IMO on account of my particular sample at least not being so yellow while correctly having all that darker colouration that MEZCO somehow missed. And yeah the Mezco's biomask looks more like that of the Scar Predator from AvP than the mask of the Jungle Hunter. The use of a picture of the old Hot Toys figure as box art is the cherry on top of a pretty weak figure IMO.
So one is nearly 5 times the price and it’s not as good? That’s hilarious, but other than the colour of the skin being too yellow I much prefer the cheaper one. Especially the unmasked head sculpt, I don’t like the more expensive one at all, looks so bad with that crease from one eye to the other.
The mask is a deal breaker for me. I look for accuracy in my collectibles now, more than anything and the Mezco one is so off I have to wonder what they used as a reference. Have to agree that it looks more like City Hunter's mask.
The NECA head sculpt turns by itself around 1min 41sec in. Pretty neat cant beat that.

Neca for me. It doesn't matter how well you get the body, if you get the bio helmet wrong, you kill the whole figure.

The only downside with the Mezco Toyz Jungle Hunter is that their,s no Red LED lights for his leftwrist gauntlet which is areal shame

Neca’s joints get loose after a while. Difficult to keep from toppling over.
There is mesh on the JH bio mask lenses. It's just extremely subtle in comparison to other versions that have it.

I wasn't too interested in having the Mezco version, but your awesome videos are tempting me and I know how good Mezco are because I owned the Deadpool figure and that impressed me.
Is it me or does mezco version looks similar to the mortal kombat x version of predator?

Each version brings something different to the table. NECA is more screen accurate. However, the Mezco release is higher quality. I'd probably get the Mezco version since I already own the NECA version. Thanks once again Dean! God bless and stay safe!
You can't mess up the mask on a Predator like that, Mezco lost right out the gate. Also Neca Preds are in that beefcake scale, I like how even the smaller ones still dwarf most other figures.

That is bootleg neca predator. The bootlegs always make the flesh tone way to yellow. I own two of the original neca version and they don't have the yellow skin tone.
That one isn't bootleg, after the AVP predators came out Neca started giving alot of the Predators this yellow skin paint look on them and now the 3rd issue of this jungle hunter doesn't have the yellow skin anymore, it has the normal skin color look. Idk why they were going with the yellow skin look tho

My NECA ultimate doesn't look as yellow as yours for some reason. In fact I wouldn't describe my figure's skin as yellow at all Got it from BBTS. Are you sure yours isn't one of the chinese knockoffs? Overall I agree that NECA wins but by an even higher margin IMO on account of my particular sample at least not being so yellow while correctly having all that darker colouration that MEZCO somehow missed. And yeah the Mezco's biomask looks more like that of the Scar Predator from AvP than the mask of the Jungle Hunter. The use of a picture of the old Hot Toys figure as box art is the cherry on top of a pretty weak figure IMO.
So one is nearly 5 times the price and it’s not as good? That’s hilarious, but other than the colour of the skin being too yellow I much prefer the cheaper one. Especially the unmasked head sculpt, I don’t like the more expensive one at all, looks so bad with that crease from one eye to the other.

Mezco the Neca Predator,s always look cheap/nasty like atoy at least with Mezco you getta lot more attention to detail
The mask is a deal breaker for me. I look for accuracy in my collectibles now, more than anything and the Mezco one is so off I have to wonder what they used as a reference. Have to agree that it looks more like City Hunter's mask.
