Yes and no, the fake one is a fake and the real one is real. I did this video like 4 or 5 years ago and didn't know the differences between the re-releases. 10:21 You actually mixed up the head sculpts. The left one is the real one. The big tell is that real one has black painted in the eye sockets surrounding the eyes. Mine has this and all video reviews of this figure is also consistent with this. Makes sense because the left one actually looks better overall. Look at 10:57 and the paint detail of the pupil. The right one looks horrible compared to this. Either way it’s good to see the comparison.

You have two different productions. A 2017 and a 2018 as seen above the barcode. Mine is a 2020 version. Looks different. A completely different sculpt of the upper torso.
Who is going through this much trouble to fake these figures? I gotta say, the fake is pretty damn good. I probably would have no idea unless a seasoned collector like you pointed this out. I didn't realize someone would go to these lengths to *fake a NECA toy*. Wow.
Thanks so much for this comparison! I guess if you just need something to look decent on a shelf, from a distance, these bootlegs would be fine. It isn't until you get up close that you start seeing any flaws. I'll always go for the originals though.
I'm 3 years late to this comment. I agree with you completely, I want the real deal. I have to say though that the prices neca push nowadays are just ridiculous to me, especially when you can get better figures at the same price point or at times even less; with better paint apps, accessories and creativity. I have been a obsessed neca avp collector for years now but I cannot collect them anymore. So nowadays bootlegs and knock offs are my bestfriends, as they don't hold the /rare/ or almost *limited* type of price tag. Recently I got a bootleg Ultimate Ahab Predator from aliexpress which I compared to my real deal Ultimate Ahab, they are so similar its insane. In fact even if you go in close you genuinely cannot see that its a knock off. What gave me a bit of a kick in the ass too, is the fact that the knock off even seemed to have stronger joints than the real deal, which sent shivers down my spine. LOL

So when I did this video years ago I did know much about the release dates. What does your date say on the bottom of the box? If it isnt from the first release than it isnt a fake as they didnt make fakes of the re-release.

Thanks for the very important comparision video! There are already 4 versions of the Ultimate Jungle Hunter toy at the moment: 1 orginal and 3 reissues. The original toy does not have an additional articulation on the removable hands, when the joint allows you to move the hand in and out, also the plasma caster looks down on the blister. So you compare the bootleg version of the original toy with the first original reissued version. Also, I noticed in your vid, that the original toy has a number on the inner side of the biomask and it consists of two separate parts, while the bootleg version seems to be molded in one piece and it doesn’t have a number. I have the second and the 4th original reissued versions of this toy, and both have the same style of eyes printing as on your bootleg version. Mine 2d reissued version has shading on its gums, and the 4th reiss. ver does not.

Man, I remember in the 90s where a knock off toy was easy to spot (they would look like bath toys) now you have to really have them side by side and know what to specifically look for. Edit: the detail in the knock off masks actually looks better to me.

Great video ! There's been a flod of NECA bootlegs and people seling them as original ones lately. In clamshelled figures, NECA sometimes uses black coated wire too; but it looks thicker and sturdier than the one used in bootlegs.
Yes they use black wiring. In one of my early video I had never seen then use black wiring at that moment an brought that up in the video. Then the next unboxing I did had black wiring lol.
I haven't seen them make many I think I see one on Ebay of the ultimate. The cardboard back clamshell one has a lot of fakes tho. I will try and order the ultimate and do a Fake Vs Real

Its hard because 90% of the neca on Alexpress is fake. The new Fakes are really good to the point you cant tell the difference. But yes they made a fake of the City Hunter in both the Ultimate and the original Carded version.

The black vs silver twist ties aren't a sign of anything. I've gotten figures straight from NECA and from Target in-store that use black ones and some silver.
Yup that's what I talked about in one of the others cause I think I opened the It pennywise next and it hand black wires. But they weren't as cheap as these that were on the predator but they were black. Thanks for watching
Is it possible for places like target and Walmart to carry fakes?? I got a predator from target and the eyes on the head doesn’t have that light brown shade inside the eye socket it’s black
They are usually technically not really knock offs or fakes. Usually the ones that get sold on ebay and all the other places that ship from china are made in the same factory. Same mold. Same place. Just these are the rejects or the ones that couldn't pass quality control and they get slipped out the back doors and sold online. Happens all the time. So technically its not fake. Just couldn't be sold cause of defects and other issues. Hope I have enlightened to you.
Would you recommend a fake I wanted to spend a bit less? I intend to display it out of the box anyway and I am about to order a clan leader predator for $50 and they go for up to $300 now for the real. And when I contacted the seller they were honest and told me it was a neca factory replica, which leads me to believe it’s an exact mold and may only be lacking a little in the paint quality. The photos look very close. And honestly if they are made in the same factory with the actual mold then it would make sense that it’s pretty much the exact same figure.
Yes the newer figures are very close to the real figures. I would suggest finding it loose for sell so I think you should be able to find it cheaper opened from china
Thats what I feel, But they also do have all the other Brands like Sh Figuarts, Marvel Legends and so on that also get fakes made. Again though I think the same with all of them that they are made and back doored.

I've just bought one and now I can't tell if it's authentic or a bootleg! It was tied down with black wires but the figure itself looks more similar to the real one here. The major one being the vertical shade along the abdomen area. Does the bootleg have the NECA stamp on the soles as well?
I have backed off of the neca fakes because they have been so close to the real. I want to do a update on some of these figures and fake vs real period just to go over the things to look for when buying.

Why the heck did I get a combination of both even though I only bought one the plasma caster was real and the hands were fake the helmet was real but the skull was fake
I have just purchased one off ebay in the UK but not received it yet. The hanging hook is black and formed from the cardboard that makes up the back of the box. Also , the box has round , clear seals top and bottom and not normal sellotape off a roll. This makes me think that it is a genuine Neca.
Very hard to tell on some of them especially the new ones. the older ones you are able to more tell from how bad they were made but now a days these new ones are spot on.

When I looked into the paint job of the first release the chest and stomach were the same paint job. I know this is fake for sure because it was 20 nib from china an I also got a partial refund on it because it was a bootleg. And the wiring it came with was super choppy. I never seen the wire that cheap (wire that holds down the figure) even if its black wiring with neca. Like part of the rubber or whatever it is was ripped of an was just the metal wiring smh it was real bad

Neca makes them both like this. Does not mean one or the other is fake. Ordinary from neca the back pack site both ways and they use multiple ties just like not all paint is the same on all neca figures. Some are a little different. In this case one might be fake but in most cases NECA makes them both like this
I got mine a week ago and from a real Authentic shop and the mask is more Coppery than both of those . But just recently found out that they did the Re-Issue in 2019 , so same figure but different releases and slight diff paint work . So dont automatically assume yours is fake ( to everyone not the UA-camr ) because they release at different times and factories quite often
Theres a.lot of bootleg toys here in Manila. You can tell at once a bootleg from.a real one. The weight the molds. The paint jobs. Etc. There are several versions of re issues of this particular toy. I have one.myself and its a mix of his reviews. I think the only fake in here is this guy.

Amazon doesn't sell you anything, technically. Just like Ebay, someone, somewhere is selling you the item THROUGH Amazon. Amazon never even possesses the product, most of the time. The seller ships it to you and Amazon is only involved with the financial transactions. In other words, its impossible to know if it's real or fake before it arrives. If an item on ebay or Amazon has a price that is noticeably lower than usual, and the seller is in China, its almost certainly a knockoff.
My jungle hunter unmasked came with a orange and purple tinted stripe down the forehead. It’s confusing trying to figure out the reissues but the feet say Neca 2018 made in China.
It really depends some go for $9 sometimes an then some go for the same price at what neca is worth. Then like the mafex is way different. The spiderman I did a fake vs real on, the real was 100 and the fake was $20 smh

After watching a few UA-cam videos, I've noticed that the 30th anniversary and the ultimate bootlegs are very different! The 30th anniversary one is the better one! More closer to the legit one.
The one I just got last week doesn’t look exactly like either one of those. The lettering on the package is the darker red, but the the extra head doesn’t look like the “fake”. Mine has characteristics of both in the video. I got mine from Best Buy. The battle damage on the helmet doesn’t look like either one of those. I have an unopened one from three years ago I got from Amazon and it has battle damage like the ones in the video. The newer one from Best Buy has more of a bronze tint and the tape is circular. The display hanger is black cardboard like the box. The older one from Amazon is clear plastic.
Neca uses round tape and sometimes the hook is plastic or cardboard every ultimate I’ve bought are from Walmart/target or from necas eBay store only fake one I got fake was a fake 09 Jason I bought from wish gave it to my 4 year old nephew for Christmas this year lol don’t buy from wish and always check the sellers Info and customer ratting and reviews I just got one today from Walmart

The black vs silver twist ties aren't a sign of anything. I've gotten figures straight from NECA and from Target in-store that use black ones and some silver.
Yup that's what I talked about in one of the others cause I think I opened the It pennywise next and it hand black wires. But they weren't as cheap as these that were on the predator but they were black. Thanks for watching

Is it possible for places like target and Walmart to carry fakes?? I got a predator from target and the eyes on the head doesn’t have that light brown shade inside the eye socket it’s black
They are usually technically not really knock offs or fakes. Usually the ones that get sold on ebay and all the other places that ship from china are made in the same factory. Same mold. Same place. Just these are the rejects or the ones that couldn't pass quality control and they get slipped out the back doors and sold online. Happens all the time. So technically its not fake. Just couldn't be sold cause of defects and other issues. Hope I have enlightened to you.
Would you recommend a fake I wanted to spend a bit less? I intend to display it out of the box anyway and I am about to order a clan leader predator for $50 and they go for up to $300 now for the real. And when I contacted the seller they were honest and told me it was a neca factory replica, which leads me to believe it’s an exact mold and may only be lacking a little in the paint quality. The photos look very close. And honestly if they are made in the same factory with the actual mold then it would make sense that it’s pretty much the exact same figure.
Yes the newer figures are very close to the real figures. I would suggest finding it loose for sell so I think you should be able to find it cheaper opened from china

Thats what I feel, But they also do have all the other Brands like Sh Figuarts, Marvel Legends and so on that also get fakes made. Again though I think the same with all of them that they are made and back doored.

I've just bought one and now I can't tell if it's authentic or a bootleg! It was tied down with black wires but the figure itself looks more similar to the real one here. The major one being the vertical shade along the abdomen area. Does the bootleg have the NECA stamp on the soles as well?
I have backed off of the neca fakes because they have been so close to the real. I want to do a update on some of these figures and fake vs real period just to go over the things to look for when buying.

I have just purchased one off ebay in the UK but not received it yet. The hanging hook is black and formed from the cardboard that makes up the back of the box. Also , the box has round , clear seals top and bottom and not normal sellotape off a roll. This makes me think that it is a genuine Neca.
Mine has Neca and all the copyright stuff printed on the base of his feet. Could he still be fake?

you won't be able to tell the Fake one just by looking at the box, unless you're comparing it side by side and you know which one is fake..
Very hard to tell on some of them especially the new ones. the older ones you are able to more tell from how bad they were made but now a days these new ones are spot on.

When I looked into the paint job of the first release the chest and stomach were the same paint job. I know this is fake for sure because it was 20 nib from china an I also got a partial refund on it because it was a bootleg. And the wiring it came with was super choppy. I never seen the wire that cheap (wire that holds down the figure) even if its black wiring with neca. Like part of the rubber or whatever it is was ripped of an was just the metal wiring smh it was real bad

Neca makes them both like this. Does not mean one or the other is fake. Ordinary from neca the back pack site both ways and they use multiple ties just like not all paint is the same on all neca figures. Some are a little different. In this case one might be fake but in most cases NECA makes them both like this

Are you sure the fake one is not just a re-packaged original version. There were 3 re-issues of this figure afterall.
I got mine a week ago and from a real Authentic shop and the mask is more Coppery than both of those . But just recently found out that they did the Re-Issue in 2019 , so same figure but different releases and slight diff paint work . So dont automatically assume yours is fake ( to everyone not the UA-camr ) because they release at different times and factories quite often
Theres a.lot of bootleg toys here in Manila. You can tell at once a bootleg from.a real one. The weight the molds. The paint jobs. Etc. There are several versions of re issues of this particular toy. I have one.myself and its a mix of his reviews. I think the only fake in here is this guy.

Amazon doesn't sell you anything, technically. Just like Ebay, someone, somewhere is selling you the item THROUGH Amazon. Amazon never even possesses the product, most of the time. The seller ships it to you and Amazon is only involved with the financial transactions. In other words, its impossible to know if it's real or fake before it arrives. If an item on ebay or Amazon has a price that is noticeably lower than usual, and the seller is in China, its almost certainly a knockoff.
My jungle hunter unmasked came with a orange and purple tinted stripe down the forehead. It’s confusing trying to figure out the reissues but the feet say Neca 2018 made in China.

Bit late to the party but could you make sth like that regarding Ultimate City Hunter Pred? in my country its impossible to get it so I have to order it from abroad and Im worried that I will get a fake one considering I already got a fake Godzilla KOTM figure and Jason Vorhees from Friday the 13th remake. Would greatly appreciate it. Even if not a vid at least get in touch if you have any conparison pics.
Wiring? Or the clear plastic T-ties? All of my NECA predators are legit and all but maybe one have had the clear plastic t-ties.
After watching a few UA-cam videos, I've noticed that the 30th anniversary and the ultimate bootlegs are very different! The 30th anniversary one is the better one! More closer to the legit one.
The one I just got last week doesn’t look exactly like either one of those. The lettering on the package is the darker red, but the the extra head doesn’t look like the “fake”. Mine has characteristics of both in the video. I got mine from Best Buy. The battle damage on the helmet doesn’t look like either one of those. I have an unopened one from three years ago I got from Amazon and it has battle damage like the ones in the video. The newer one from Best Buy has more of a bronze tint and the tape is circular. The display hanger is black cardboard like the box. The older one from Amazon is clear plastic.
Neca uses round tape and sometimes the hook is plastic or cardboard every ultimate I’ve bought are from Walmart/target or from necas eBay store only fake one I got fake was a fake 09 Jason I bought from wish gave it to my 4 year old nephew for Christmas this year lol don’t buy from wish and always check the sellers Info and customer ratting and reviews I just got one today from Walmart
