  • Pat Kelly from Mad River Outfitters breaks down how to tie Bob Popovic's classic Bulkhead Deceiver with Mangum's Dragon Tails as the body. This has proven to be a very efficient pattern on smallmouth for us around here but can also be modified for pike, musky, saltwater, peacocks and more.

    Great job guys! Definitely helped me figure out how to taper the bulkhead portion. I Like the dragon tail too. Smallmouth season is around the corner. I hear they crush crawfish.

    That Renzetti has me drooling... I love my Presentation 2000 but I have had my eye on that all black Master Series.

    These dragon tails .....I have been buying them for years at toy stores and they call them slinky worms . I bought them all 5 years ago in different colors and tie big 8 inch streamers with them for halibut ....

    Phenominal... However, finding the "right" bucktail to tie these is a bit of a challenge.

      @@Madriveroutfitters I have plenty of white. It's the other colors that are problematic. You should the a variant of the hollow with a SID-style wedge head on the jig style hook

    Very nice fly, a lot of work. Better not use these on bluefish.
