After 3 months of trying, I caught my first carp on the clouser swimming nymph tied the original way (hook down). It took me so long to land that fish. I like this variation a lot better.
Cool! Good work. If using the original, it's important to have a bead on it. Otherwise, this version will work alot better.
This is one of your best efforts. A very simple approach with full explanations with whys and tips. This is missing in some recent videos. Must be very difficult to come up with fresh material every week. Thanks for all the videos.
Thanks so much for watching.
Absolutely awesome looking bug! Thanks fellas!!!
Thanks for being here!
Wow great job Brian, thanks for the post
Mark Sleeper Thanks for being here.
Cool, a new vid! Great stuff. Always helpful.
Thanks as always for watching.
Love your UA-cam videos. This too was great. I'm fortunate to attend fly classes with Bobby Clouser Jr here in Harrisburg Pa. When you mentioned about the clump of peacock for the wing case, I was reminded how he said to " take a goodly bunch"!!
Keep making your excellent videos, they are extremely educational. Tight lines.
Thanks so much for being here and please stay tuned. As long as folks keep supporting the shop, we can continue to make videos.
Great lesson! Thx!
Thanks for watching!
I love these patterns because they represent a wide range of bugs and other things. We have alot of damselflies here in N.C. and this one works great!
Thanks for watching.
Hello,
I love this fly and I'm going to try it.
I have used a jig off tungsten bead.
Keep posting those vid I'm looking at them from Belgium.
Thanks for watching!
Any chance we could get some more Pike and Musky fly fishing videos? It's super popular all over the World now and a fantastic sport. I've seen you do one before Brian. It would be great to see some of your fly patterns and how to tie them, and talking about the tackle required for newcomers to that type of fly angling. Keep up the good work.
We published about 5 or 6 this Fall with Blane Chocklett and Josh McQueen. Both pike and musky. Not sure when he'll be fishing for either anytime soon though.
Great job, and a nice lookin' bug! They hold up ok with no head cement? I know it'd be pretty hard to get a drop in there without hitting that soft rabbit fur.
Couple of half-hitches behind the bead and you are fine. If you did want to use, the Loon Water Based soaks down in really well and doesn't really hamper the materials.
Thanks for watching!!
On the subject of the tungsten, not only is it heavier, but for the same weight as lead, it still sinks faster!
Thanks for watching.
Is the bead on this fly tungsten? I would think this spooks fish.
He surely states whether tungsten or not? If he doesn't, it's not. Pretty sure he would not show you a carp fly that would spook fish. The man knows a bit about carp fishing.
I'm a little confused by the Tiemco 2302 hook. I went and and bought three sizes and find discrepancies in the description. Your package says this is a standard wire hook and everything on line says it is a 1x fine wire. Tiemco 2312 is supposed to be standard wire. So which is it??? Don't want to tie flies that Carp are going to straighten.
Thanks for checking but you would have to contact the shop directly with a question like that. Feel free to call or e-mail them and they will be happy to help.
What colors do you tie it in.
You'd have to check with Brian directly on that but pretty sure it's only one color. Send him an e-mail at the shop or give him a call and he'll be happy to help/answer.
Hi Brian I did not see the material list on the sight any info would be great thanks Mark
Mark Sleeper Check our Blog. Should be the same day the video was posted. Let us know if you can’t find it. Thanks.

Mark Sleeper Best then to call or e-mail Brian at the shop and he should be able to help. Thanks.
