They've added widgets by my count three times in the last 20 years. Are they going to keep them this time, or discontinue them in a year just like before?

Awesome video Brandon-Installing right now on my M1 Mac!!-I can’t wait to try out all of these insane features-Thanks for your super in-depth and informative content-keep it up!
If we get another big release in 2026, I think it's safe to say we get a major new release at least every 3 years. Windows is going back to major new releases every 3 years as well.
@@techwithtyler20 Apple is doing fine last years: precise refinements in a system that has become more beautiful and performatic. On the contrary, Microsoft can't improve Windows, because it's a very general system that can hardly work in favor of performance, but rather in favor of portability and market dominance
It's just my opinion, of course Apple products should be more affordable. But I see that the company has been designing and placing its operating system in products with the appropriate hardware for a long time, and that is a great point.
As someone who just switched from windows to Mac, you saved me! Using apple devices wouldn't be the same without you, I wouldn't know half the things I use! Thank you so so much for your work!
I just updated my macbook and I've NEVER been more confused. I've been so out of the loop on updates and changes and features.... this video was excruciatingly needed to get me up to date. Thank you!!!
My last MacBook was the Retina Pro 13 inch from 2014. I just picked up the 16 inch M3 Pro and using this vid to help me learn all the new tricks. Thank you!

It’s my favorite is OS X launch in a long time because it focuses less on standouts and more on subtle changes. Like the new lock screen iPad clock or the way that the apple matches the real apple on your hardware when you boot the system
I am on Ventura due to needing to keep some apps working, but appearance-wise Catalina was the last OS X version I liked. I usually turn off transparency stuff and keep my desktop as a solid color. I never use stage manager or widgets. Ventura also made it much harder to set up my menu bar like I want with Bartender and iStats Menu.
I got my first macbook right as Sonoma came out and thought y’all was living this well all these years lmao good to know i bought just in time for the new update
Absolutely fantastic video. I’ve watched a few other videos on Sonoma and I was thinking there were about 8 new features. Admittedly some of these are relatively minor but they can make a huge difference. For example mouse acceleration I was using a paid app to control this called Steermouse. I may not need this app now.
I liked being able to sign a PDF that was emailed to me and when I hit the share button on the newly signed PDF it automatically gave me an option to send it back to the sender as an attachment. That’s slick shit!!
Loved the features and loved the way you actually did a detailed research before that. It was really helpful! looking forward for new tips ( btw a little background would be nice, especially in 37 min videos :P not a complaint :)
This update may not seem significantly different from Ventura, but it does appear to consume a more substantial amount of RAM. Individuals with 8 gigabytes of memory might encounter some performance challenges

the autoswitching for airpods is promising, I thought it was just me who had problems with it all the time. It connects when I don't want it to, and doesn't connect when I do 😄

Thank you. This is fantastic. I don't usually get excited about a new OS, but I will be revisiting this site many times over the next few days! It feels like... a Mac again, doesn't it?

I just updated to Sonoma but I don't have that icon, and can't seem to find it anywhere in Settings. Any help as to how to get that up on the menu bar? Or has it been recently removed in the latest Sonoma Update (14.4.1)
It’s unfortunate that my MacBook Pro 2017 didn’t get the update! I have used it for a long time! It’s actually my 2nd Apple device that’s outdated and leaves my iPhone 13 Pro as the last device thats still getting updated. It’s just hard and expensive to keep my iPad and MacBook updated!

NotchBooks get the taller menu bar. It was leaked last year that it would be coming to everyone, so if the "it leaks, it comes 2 years later" pattern holds true, we'll see it in macOS 15 (Napa?).
Very thorough and understandable. Thanks! I wasn't sold on widgets to begin with, harsh flashbacks of Windows Vista... gadget bar? But I was a big fan of OS X's Dashboard. You've convinced me that perhaps I can set this up again. Also, I've always had a Hot Corner for Show Desktop. The new option to click the desktop has taken some getting used to but is a welcome feature for me, and frees up a Hot Corner!
Thanks Brandon - enjoy your content. Watched a couple days ago, but now that i have updated and watching back to make tweaks i wanted to point something out or at least for me. The widgets are nice and helpful. I did find though that some that i added from my phone just tells me to open my phone if i click on them. Obviously if this is how they work then it beomes less useful to have them on the desktop, but not sure if i am missing something? Thanks again
Thank you so much for your video I was looking everywhere to why when I clicked my desktop main menu screensaver I was getting this grey shadded outline box lol
6:56 yeah but the items are still there and sometimes you need them. It’s much better to just always move them into a folder and that folder into another at times. I’m already at folder DT47 since 2017 but that works well.
With how little friction the cursor is (it slows down rather than stopping instantly), I think Brandon is using an iPad with trackpad attached and Universal Control to control his Mac with his iPad. Increase the size of the cursor in Accessibility, and you're there!... I think. I've never actually used it myself.
