Yes, 80% will give you a massive 3500 battery cycles, so I'm expecting a long life for it. You can also discharge to 100% if you need to as well, but I'll keep to the 80.... Their warranty is also 10 years! Not many offer that eh. So very happy so far. I'll monitor it and do another 'follow up' video in a few months as well 👍 ATB, Steve
Thanks for video. I'll be waiting for feedback on the inverter as I'm looking to buy one as well. Top job on that electrical installation. Have a nice trip!
Thank you for watching. The inverter is working good so far, but I’ll really be able to give it a hammering over the next few months. I’ll do an update video as well. ATB, Steve
Very cool battery. Looking forward to see your next video. I'm using Loin Energy, currently with 300 watt hours of lithium and 500 watts of solar here in California. Thanks Don
Hi Don Yes, it’s certainly got some good specifications. I’ll put it through it paces when we’re away. Nice comfortable setup you’ve got there. Especially good in sunny California 🎉
Great video very informative 👍what’s the plan with keeping the batts above 0 ? I’m guessing in that location they won’t hit below 0?? What’s the cycle rating on the battery’s please ??
Thank you, glad you liked it 👍 I don't think our van has ever been below 5degs. My wife's from a hot country and thinks anything below 10 is sub zero.!!! Needless to say, the heating goes straight on. But it is positioned in a very well insulated area, plus we don't intend on going anywhere cold in our travels. So keeping above 0degs shouldn't be a problem. Roamer suggests that best practice is to keep the battery at temperatures between 5 and 40 degrees and avoid overcharging or discharging as well. The cycle rating for my 460Smart3 is 3500 cycles at 80% discharge. ATB, Steve
Sure can Bill, It's a Thetford T2160 12V Compressor Fridge Freezer. I bought it from: leisureshopdirect.com Product ref: 280066 Hope that helps 👍 ATB, Steve
can someone please do a head to head comparison of all the new 460ah lifepo4 batteries that are coming out? redodo bird, roamer, litime, epoch, basen, VATRER, power drag queen, etc.. thanks in advance! @@TheWrinklyNomads
Excellent video . A friend was recommending roamer batteries to me yesterday so it was good timing too ! looking forward to seeing how the system performs on the road
Thanks Justin So far we’ve been in Europe for over a month and I’ve been trying to kill it and just can’t…!!! No problem running the 3000W inverter and appliance’s. So far it’s really going good. ATB, Steve
95mm cables? Makes the 12mm Renogy supplied seem strange. I've also gone mainly electric for cooking, although not brave enough to take lpg out of the system. I'm using 3 x 115 lead carbon and 2 x Poweroad lithium batteries in an experimental hybrid set up. It's all coping well ,while in Spain, with solar and driving. It's more of a problem in the UK. That said, it wasn't compleatly installed until January this year.
Definitely agree there Derek. Those Renogy cables supplied are way underpowered, especially for the 3000W inverter. The 95mm cable is the way to go...!! That's an interesting setup you've got there as well. I'm not brave enough to delve too deeply into battery technology. ATB, Steve.
Hi Joy, There's no extra weight at all.... In fact it's the opposite. The 3xAGM batteries weigh in at 24kg each, that's a massive 72kg total. Whereas the new Roamer battery is only 38kg. I've saved 34kg by replacing them. 👍 Plus the Roamer gives nearly 3x more power than the AGM's. Well worth looking into. ATB, Steve & Margot
I have a question. I’m going to install a BMV712 and thanks as I’ve seen your video on how to do that. My question is this. The negatives to the battery from the MPPT, B2B and 230/12V AC/DC charger do they all go to the negative busbar? Thank you
Hi Mathew, Yes, all the negatives must go to the busbar. e.g: battery negative cable only to shunt, the from the shunt into negative busbar. By doing that the shunt will give the correct readings. ATB, Steve
Thank you for your kind offer Don. Were considering going to Norway and beyond one day, so if we’re passing, we’ll definitely pop in for a cuppa ☕️ Steve & Mary
Top video Steve! Thank you for letting us be a part of it, really enjoyed meeting you!
Thank you.
I'll give it good test over the next six months while on our travels 👍
80% discharge will be a real bonus. Looks like a quality piece of gear. Nice one.
Will be interested to hear about it's progress.

Another excellent video, lots of great info, very well done, thx for sharing
Thanks Chris,
Glad it was helpful.
Cracking bit of kit as well, it's running everything perfectly 👍

Your a genius, looking & learning, but nowhere near this knowledge. We are wrinklies looking & learning, thank you. 😊
Thank you and you are welcome Liz 👍

Can I please ask.. With all the extra weight added, Are you still managing to keep under your maximum laden weight? 🤔 Thank you 😊

Also positives to positive busbar? How much Solar panel wattage do you have?
Hi Mathew,
Yes, all the negatives must go to the busbar.
e.g: battery negative cable only to shunt, the from the shunt into negative busbar.

Yes, same as the negatives. All positive cables to busbar.
Also help to keep things tidy.
At the moment I've only got 320W.

will this setup run the air conditioning with that 3000w inverter ? thanks
Hi, yes will it certainly run a motorhome air con unit, but I don’t know how long for though.
As we haven’t got air con installed.

Cool we live in the Nederlands in a Village cold Dinteloord If you're in the area we're in for tea or if you need help 👍🏻

Hi, I’ve been trying to find your websites with no luck.
Hi Wayne
My website was hacked 😤
I’ve had to shut it down temporarily while I sort it out.
With any luck it’ll be back on line soon 👍🏼
