Jue Viole Grace is such a hard name, Bam might be the strongest of this group but I can't see him winning his battle next episode honestly, not against a Ranker for certain
There was a small panel in the comic where after Miseng gave Bam the chocolate that Arkraptor looked at his empty hand in disbelief like "damn that kid really prefered to give chocolate to the terrorist instead of me"
For the names vs Japanese localization for characters at the moment: -Ja Wangnan = Oujinaru -Miseng = Mana -Goseng = Kana -Horyang = Torasuke(?). They haven't said this out loud, but that's the Japanese on the scoreboard for him. -Yeon Yihwa = Ren Rika Also, I think the reason stated for why Viole was roomed with Yihwa is that Love thought Viole was a girl.
16:15 btw in the webtoon she also says that Wangnan is an smelly monkey and that viole should chose her because her breast are bigger than Wangnan's, which makes Wangnan angry and to fight backs he says something like "theyre big? watch this" and tries lower his pants and flash his little Wangnan before being stoped by the others
The bit wirh Jue Viole in the room with the girl works better in the webtoon i think. You don't have voices to potentially give away gender, and his identity was still a well kept secret at this point, so it worked well as a short misdirect before the bathroom bit. You actually never see his eyes until a decent bit later than the anime has adapted so far, and there were no flashbacks from him. Im guessing they decided not to do that in tr anime because it's risky for viewer retention and also spoilers from readers.
I absolutely love your reactions. You have such good observations and insights back to S1 since you just finished watching it. As for your question, the season 1 crew is pretty famous because of the status of the members. Anaak and Endorsi are straight-up princesses of Jahad, while Khun and Laure(the sleepy guy) are both from the 10 great families. Not to mention, all of them are powerful, so they gained a lot of fame and reputation offscreen as they climbed. That is why Hatz is also well known as a skilled swordsman since swords are considered a weak weapon in the Tower. I think the episode was well paced. One thing I was disappointed in, though, was they cut out a small scene in the waiting room, where a random regular came out of the elevator wounded and dying. He begged Wangnan and the rest of the group to help him, but nobody does anything and Wangnan even says to the man, that he can't risk helping him, because his own life is on the line. I feel like that added a lot of depth to Wangnan's character, and it also gives more reason to why Viole refused to accept anyone as teammates. He saw the whole ordeal, and he assumed Wangan was heartless and selfish just like everyone else in the tower and not worth his time. Also, if you want to know how to correctly pronounce character names here is how you say them: Wangnan=Wong-Non Yeon Yihwa=Yawn E-Wha Miseng=Me-Seng Goseng=Go-Seng Horyang=Hor-Yong Sorry for the really long post haha. Can't wait for the next epsiode! The story really become hype now!
6:13 Had a korean classmate back in 6th grade named Yeon and was corrected that his name is actually closely pronounced as the word "yawn", just with more "e" sound, since I kept pronouncing it as a sharp "yon" back then. A lot of korean names with vowels next to each other can be identified as a mix of sounds with the first vowel having slightly more priority, though I guess sometimes they just mostly ignore the first vowel. Just like Miseng and Goseng's names being shortened from "Gosaeng" and "Misaeng". Also, it was tiring reading JVG as "Vio-le" in my head when I was reading the webtoon that I just went with "Vyol" to cut one syllable off and is much closer to the french pronunciation.
yes hatz, just like all the characters in the first season are famous, the first reason is because they were on a team with an irregular, the second reason is because they are a strong team, khun is one of the 10 families, there are two princesses, apart from the others like hatz and shibisu who are strong alone, basically they are one of the strongest teams in recent times to climb the tower
Those people are in tower for years and take so long to climb even one floor. If there is someone particularly strong and quick, of course you will hear stories. The stronger people are super well-known between regulars. And after you pass floor 20, you get E-rank regular title. Then many regulars just start competing between themselves to see who is strongest in each rank (ofc this ranking is not official)
Was gonna tell you that you’ll find out more on why Hatz was mentioned like a big shot but seems like someone already spoiled it 🤣 but I’ll just say there’s still more to that story tho, it’s one of the most interesting parts of these upcoming arcs for me personally

Yeah Viole is not even 1% of Love as shown by the scene in the manhwa that they didn't adapt here. Maybe he'd rank a bit higher against the weakest Ranker of them all (but even then it would only be around 1% of their power) but it's not like Love is a super high level ranker, he's neither a high Ranker (top 1% of ranker) nor even an advanced ranker (top 10% of rankers). He's probably a bit better than average to be a proctor at an important floor but nothing too special. That being said, a Ranker cannot use their entire power in regular areas, and they can't proctor blatantly bullshit tests, so you can't have a test like "you have to let me beat you up for 2 hours and if you're still alive you win", the Administrator of the floor probably wouldn't be happy about that, so maybe Viole does have a small chance here.
Changing the names is done for accessibility and simplyfication for the japanese audience i would guess. Anime watchers outside of japan are mostly watching with subtitles so it doesn't bother the watchers to actually see the actual names of the characters. It's like choosing easy to understand Names for asian characters for example for western audiences. Tower of God is korean if i don't misremember and if espacially for a fantasy setting with all kind of different names and such. If they would flip between korean and japanese i would guess it would somewhat hinder the flow of the comprehansion espacially if your primary audience might not understand what these korean words mean and so you would need to subtitle it for japanese and that might push away viewers.
For the webtoon's reader we just call the blonde guy wangman so you can call him like that too if you don't know. In the webtoon Nya is a bo and except if they wanted to change this in the anime I think it's a translation mistake (I've seen this episode with french subtitles and Nya was a boy).
