Now this what BASSIST'S are expected to deliver with Soul Music... The fact you made just 1 or 2 fills throughout shows you played with the spirit.. like I learnt from Don Moen "never over play"... Thumbs up Nick
the way you and your band play this song is sick adds a whole new feel to it i really like it man great bassline too and so much character on the stage amazing!!
I want to say thank you so much from a brother bass player. We play many elevation songs monthly at our mega church here in New England and it was a blessing to find your channel. God bless you brother you are inspiring.
Nice! That’s why it’s really cool to play with all chords memorised. Just enjoying the groove! Imho, one big pressure with bassist is you cannot make a mistake 😂 seriously I’m not exaggerating, there’s no such rule or police will not grab you. I experienced playing one time and hitting that one wrong note at the right time can mess the groove system 😂 Maybe because the tone is so big, it’s obvious when you play a wrong note compared to other higher frequency instruments.
Hey nice 'punch' sound.. i've been listening and I have two questions: What fuzz did you use, and, in the bridge did you use an octaver for the higher notes?
@@TonyBiancoOfficial he used the ehx bass microsynth for the big chorus. he uses another lighter overdrive called the dark glass “alpha omega”. he uses the alpha omega after the microsynth almost as a compressor for the microsynth because it can get big and messy. if you go on elevation worship resources you can see him and other bass players from elevation talk about pedals and gear. cheers!
@@nickedwards4542 heck yeah. I really like your approach on this line; I’m definitely stealing a couple of your higher licks. I have a tendency to almost turn this tune into a walking line because it has so much room for chromaticism in it. One of my favorites to play live at worship services.
Hey Nick, love your playing! I had a question for you! When you added your drive/fuzz at the last chorus and through the outro, it took a lot of the lows out with it! Was this completely intentional? I've been trying to learn more about how drive on a bass sits in the mix and would love to hear your thoughts!
Hey, thanks for the comment! It may seem like it cuts some of the lows, but it’s actually more so adding highs. To prevent from cutting too much low-end, I use a fuzzes and overdrives that have a clean blend knob. This lets you maintain the clarity of the signal path prior to the fuzz or overdrive while also adding a bit of dirt to it. Hope that helps!
What's sad about wanting to make sure you and your band are tight? if people are making mistakes and distracting the congregation from worship is that not sadder? My very not modern church uses tracks and in-ear monitors so that it's one less thing we have to think about when being the vessel of worship for our congregation. It's not always about being overproduced it's more about being able to shift focus on more important things. Whether there are five people or 5000 people in your church they deserve to be led in worship by musicians that act and play professionally.
in a big building like that, all the equipments helps them a lot otherwise they will get lost or cant hear one another. And you cant have worship when the band and singers dont even hear themselves or are out of beat.
Great example of how the emotion of the song is in the bassline

Probably the best bassline I've heard for this song. You have a gift :)
Ahh thanks so much. Too kind 🙏🏼

Thanks so much for the kind words! Really appreciate it a ton. Glad that my stuff was able to help you out!
Really good-so grateful for this video👍👍👍👍
that distorted tone is everything
For real!
Does anyone know if that’s the micro synth or darkglass he uses?
@@mikethompson1095 definitely the micro synth

SO Good!!
I got way too excited when I saw this
I'll get a warm washcloth so ypu can clean up.
Super clean, nice performance bro. Nowadays is super hard to find such a emotional and clean bass line like yours.
This was fun to hear. Thanks!
We need a tutorial of this one!🤩

moving cause I've done that on bass at worship and it hits you...ya know.
Amazing!!!! How do you record your IEM mix??
I can’t tel if the distortion was volume related or if it was added from the peddle board.
Never mind, I just rewatched
Hey, sorry for the late response. I used an over drive and a fuzz on this one
@@nickedwards4542 Nice!! which ones? Currently putting a pedal board together
I would love to know what bass pedals to use. I’m putting a few together myself.

thank you! this was at our church's youth conference.
What DI are you using bro? Sounds lush!
Noble DI
@@nickedwards4542 of course it is!
What IEM do you use?
what fuzz do you use?
Click with brush hit?
Wow, it's a good thing the cameraman and cordgirl were in their show blacks so we couldn't see them.
*OR NOT.*
what’s your pedal setup?

What year is that P bass?
I’m playing on a ‘71 reissue. Yours must be a 60’s I’m guessing from the strap button on the headstock?
It’s a 2013, but a ‘63 reissue

Where can I learn to play like you?
UA-cam. This bassline was pretty simple most of the time.
What are you using to get your tone? I only briefly saw your pedal board?
yooo brother! please leave a bass cover.

What IEM do you use? What is the best budget IEM for a bass player?
I use JH Audio Roxanne. You could look into KZ. I know a lot of people who use them and they’re very inexpensive.
Are You E Edwards' brother?. And is it another campus of EW? I'm not sure if it's Ballantyne
hey! what in ears are you using?
I use JH Audio Roxanne
Muito bom
the voice sounds a little bit dry, if you put some reverb it will sounds better 👌 but the electric guitar and bass. wonderful
That guy at 5:07 knew what was up

Finally found the power house!

Which church is this?
The BFG Guy elevation church
Gonna be honest I thought he was John Mayer at first 😂💀
It's kinda sad that modern church has gotten so overproduced that worship musicians use monitor mixes and click tracks for services.

How is that sad lmao its just to make sure your performance is tight which is solely to let the people be able to worship better

Worship is in the spirit and in truth. Does not matter how it is done.
